OVER 100 PEOPLE ATTEND OPEN DAY FOR SOCIAL INCUBATOR INITIATIVE

  

Abu Dhabi, Tuesday 25 June 2019: More than 100 people across Abu Dhabi took part in an Open Day held by the Authority for Social Contribution – Ma’an to learn more about how their new social incubator program will help develop solutions for people of determination.

Held this morning at Zayed Higher Organization, the highly successful event was led by Her Excellency Salama Al Ameemi, Director General of Ma’an, who provided a brief history of the establishment of Ma’an (part of the ‘Ghadan 21’ programme) which aims to develop the third sector in Abu Dhabi and supporting solutions for social challenges.

Sarah Al Haj, Director of Ma’an Social Incubator offered attendees an in-depth insight into the Ma’an Social Incubator (MSI) program as well top tips to help with the application process, with the purpose of motivatating social entrepreneurs to come forward with viable and groundbreaking solutions to societal concerns. Concluding with an interactive Q&A session, guests were able to generate a clear understanding of the program.

Entrepreneurs were invited to hear about the lives of People of Determination at Zayed Higher Organization, with guests receiving a tour of the state of the art facilities and workshops made available to the ZHO students.

H.E. Salama Al Ameemi – Director General of Ma’an, said: “Thank you to everyone who joined us today to hear more about the Ma’an Social Incubator, a program I am incredibly passionate about. This Open Day is one of many stepping stones towards achieving a thriving third sector and enabling Abu Dhabi to become a hub for social entreprenurship and inclusion. This program aims to set the course for Abu Dhabi increasing its number of not-for-profit organizations.

“With our first cycle of the Ma’an Social Incubator focusing on solutions for challenges faced by people of determination, it was a fantastic opportunity to hear first-hand from the Zayed Higher Organization who do such excellent work supporting people of determination day-in and day-out.”

Zayed Higher Organization strives toward achieving an inclusive society where students can excel in diverse spheres of life with practical classes in sewing, carpentary, printing, and art part of the array of varied learning experiences. ZHO students also enjoy the region’s first robotics laboratory with the most advanced equipment aimed at regaining an individual’s movement and mobility. Other therapy classes include hydro therapy and horse riding.

أبوظبي، 25 يونيو 2019- بحضور أكثر من 100 شخص، استضافت هيئة المساهمات المجتمعية – معاً اليوم المفتوح بعنوان "حاضنة معاً الاجتماعية" والذي تناول موضوع تمكين أصحاب الهمم ودعم المشاريع الاجتماعية الناشئة، وذلك بالتعاون مع مؤسسة زايد العليا لأصحاب الهمم.

حيث قدمت سعادة سلامة العميمي، المدير العام لهيئة المساهمات المجتمعية – معاً، نبذة عن الهيئة وأهم أهدافها والمحاور الأساسية التي ترتكز عليها، وشرحت سارة الحاج، مدير برنامج حاضنة معاً الاجتماعية، ورشة عمل حول خطوات التسجيل في برنامج حاضنة معاً الاجتماعية، والذي يتناول في دورته الأولى موضوع أصحاب الهمم، وسبل تمكينهم ودمجهم باعتبارهم جزءا لا يتجزأ من مجتمعنا. واستهدفت ورشة العمل روّاد الأعمال الاجتماعيين، والأشخاص المهتمين بإنشاء مؤسسة اجتماعية أو منشأة أهلية في أبوظبي، يكون غرضها توفير خدمات مبتكرة ومستدامة لتعزيز دمج وتمكين أصحاب الهمم.

وقد حصل الضيوف على فرصة الاطلاع على الخدمات التي توفرها مؤسسة زايد العليا لأصحاب الهمم من خلال جولة تعريفية حول أهم وأحدث المرافق وورش العمل المتاحة التي تقدمها لطلابها. إذ تسعى المؤسسة جاهدة نحو تمكين الطلاب من التفوق في مجالات الحياة المختلفة، وذلك من خلال الدروس العملية في الخياطة، والفن، ومجموعة من تجارب التعلم المتنوعة. كما يحصل الطلاب على أول مختبر للروبوتات في المنطقة بأحدث المعدات التي تهدف إلى استعادة حركة الفرد وتنقله. كما تشمل فصول العلاج الأخرى العلاج المائي وركوب الخيل.

وبهذه المناسبة، صرّحت سعادة سلامة عجلان العميمي، المدير العام لهيئة المساهمات المجتمعية "معاً": "أوجه شكري لجميع الذين انضموا إلينا اليوم لسماع المزيد حول حاضنة معاً الاجتماعية. يعد هذا اليوم المفتوح أحد الخطوات الأساسية لتحقيق قطاع ثالث مزدهر وتمكين أبوظبي من أن تصبح مركزًا للريادة والإدماج الاجتماعي. يهدف هذا البرنامج إلى تحديد المسار لإمارة أبوظبي لزيادة عدد المنشآت الأهلية.

Lamborghini launches the new Museum of Technology - MUDETEC

The new interactive space hosts “Future Shapers since 1963” exhibition for limited time

Middle East, 26 June 2019 – Lamborghini has announced the completion of a major revamp of its museum at Sant’Agata Bolognese, presenting a completely re-branded facility with new and exciting exhibits. Now known as MUDETEC, the ‎Museum of Technology has quickly become a popular attraction for tourists visiting the birthplace of Lamborghini in Italy.

The new interactive space reveals the secrets of Lamborghini and its world through the innovations and tales of excellence that, for over fifty years, not only revolutionised the company itself but the entire panorama of the automotive industry, creating concepts and casting foundations for the design and technology of tomorrow.

Speaking about the new announcement, Damien Percheron, Head of Middle East and Africa markets (MEA) for Automobili Lamborghini, said: “The new MUDETEC is the go-to place for Lamborghini super fans who want to truly immerse themselves in the brand’s rich history. The museum focuses on safeguarding and conveying the values, driving passion and future-focus that are the mark of Lamborghini, offering teaching activities at two new educational workshops for students: “Vehicle set-up and ergonomics” and “Carbon fibre and its technology”.

Celebrating the relaunch of the Lamborghini Museum in the new MUDETEC guise, an exclusive exhibition of “Future Shapers since 1963” has been specifically inaugurated as part of the museum’s space, featuring the pioneering spirit of Lamborghini with regard to innovation and design.

Running until October 31st 2019, the exhibition is a virtual journey through the decades, with a focus on vehicles that revolutionised the marque at the time they were built. Visitors explore exhibits through the support of special installations and touch screens offering access to information, photos, original sketches and videos.

The Sixties are marked by the 350 GT, the first sports car designed by Lamborghini; the Miura, the fastest car in the world when it made its debut; and the Espada, the first four-seater sports car with a powerful V12 engine. The Countach is the car of the Seventies that revolutionised the industry with its futuristic design and cutting-edge hi-tech solutions.

The Eighties saw the arrival of the LM002, Lamborghini’s first off-roader and the forerunner of today’s luxury SUVs. In the Nineties it was the turn of the Diablo GT’s futuristic looks: the world’s fastest series car at the time. The new millennium got off to a flying start with the Sesto Elemento, a masterpiece of engineering with an exceptional weight/power ratio and built entirely in carbon fibre.

The journey continues with the story of the most recent challenges in technology: hybridisation for the concept Asterion; the ALA® system (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) for the Huracán Performante; and LDVI (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata) for the Aventador SVJ, the new Huracán EVO and the Urus: the first Super SUV in the world, designed at a time when it seemed impossible to combine the two apparently-distant worlds of the super sports car and the SUV.



The exhibition also features an Ad Personam space, where visitors can experience a first-hand view of options available to customers wishing to customize the car of their dreams with the Car Configurator.

High-speed mono MFP meets demand for reliable, high-volume printing

Epson’s latest A3 business inkjet delivers printing at 100ppm for specialist high-volume use cases, such as logistics

Cairo, Egypt, 24 June, 2019: Epson has announced the latest addition to its range of superfast eco-efficient business inkjet printers. The WorkForce Enterprise WF-M20590D4TW delivers dedicated high-speed mono printing for specialist, high-volume environments with reliable results for continuous print runs. It does this while using up to 82% less energy than laser competitors.

Jeroen van Beem, director of sales, Epson MEA, says: “The latest Enterprise model delivers speed where it’s needed, reliably delivering document after document in highly demanding environments such as logistics warehouses or central reprographics departments. For example, the performance and reliability of Epson technology means that waybills, printed in high quality, can be issued with every delivery, ensuring packages reach the right place, at the right time, allowing customers to check contents, without fail.”

The inkjet linehead that delivers very high speeds and print quality is designed around scalable technology that Epson first used in industrial systems, such as large-scale label presses. The remarkable linehead design, measuring just 43mm wide and containing approximately 8,676 black nozzles, offers outstanding misfire detection and variable size droplet technology to reduce banding. This compact but incredible level of detail not only enhances performance; it also provides speed and reliability for highly productive teams where downtime is not an option. Users can print up to 120K pages in black without replenishing ink, enabling high-volume continuous print runs.

To further enhance the printer’s quality, Epson has incorporated several technology innovations, including a self-repairing printhead to eliminate banding and an electrostatic transport belt to maintain quality at high speed. Barcode mode assists in printing sharp edges.


The optional 3,000-sheet high-capacity paper tray delivers a 5,350-sheet max paper input, while a 4,000-sheet stapler/stacker finishing unit helps improve efficiency, saving time and effort. مواقع الحوسبة الطرفية تتضاعف ثلاث مرات بحلول عام 2025

وفقاً لدراسة أجراها مركز بيانات فرتيف 

التوقعات الأخيرة تشير إلى نمو ملحوظ في هذه المواقع ونقص في المواهب العاملة فيها

26 يونيو، دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة: أجرت "فرتيف" دراسة عالمية منذ خمس سنوات حول مراكز بيانات المستقبل شملت سائر مجالات القطاع. وتعاون 800 اختصاصي في إعداد الدراسة التي حملت عنوان "مراكز البيانات 2025: استكشاف الإمكانيات"، لتقديم رؤية شاملة حول الجيل التالي من مراكز البيانات. وقد نشرت "فرتيف" اليوم دراسة أخرى بعنوان "مراكز البيانات 2025: أقرب إلى الحوسبة الطرفية" تكشف فيها عن تحولات جوهرية في القطاع كانت مستبعدة في التوقعات المنشورة منذ خمس سنوات فقط.

إذ يغير الانتقال إلى استخدام الحوسبة الطرفية من طريقة تفكير قادة القطاع اليوم حول مراكز البيانات. فهم يواجهون بيئة واسعة من مراكز البيانات مكونة من أنماط متنوعة من المنشآت والتي تعتمد بشكل متزايد على الحوسبة الطرفية للشبكات. ومن بين المشاركين في الدراسة ممّن يمتلكون مواقع حوسبة طرفية أو يتوقعون امتلاكها بحلول عام 2025، فإن أكثر من النصف (53%) يتوقعون ازدياد عدد المواقع الطرفية التي يدعمونها بمقدار 100% على الأقل. بينما يتوقع 20% من المشاركين نمواً بنسبة 400% أو أكثر. ويتوقع المشاركون في الدراسة بالمجمل أن ينمو عدد مواقع الحوسبة الطرفية بنسبة 226% بين اليوم وعام 2025.

وتمّ وصف الحوسبة الطرفية - في الدراسة الأصلية التي أجريت عام 2014- بأنها توجه آخذ بالازدياد على الرغم من التطرّق إليها 4 مرات فقط في التقرير الذي امتد لـ 19 صفحة. وكان تركيز القطاع منصباً بقوة في تلك الفترة على الهيكليات الهجينة الداعمة للشركات، وتكنولوجيا السحابة وموارد استضافة المعدات التقنية. ويعتبر النمو الذي تشهده الحوسبة الطرفية وتأثيرها الكبير على مراكز البيانات أمراً مذهلاً، خصيصاً في ظلّ التطورات فائقة السرعة التي يشهدها القطاع.

وفي هذا السياق، أوضح روب جونسون الرئيس التنفيذي لدى شركة ’فرتيف‘: "شهدنا خلال خمس سنوات قصيرة بروز نمط جديد كلياً من المنظومات مدفوعة بالحاجة إلى تقريب عمليات الحوسبة من المستخدم. وتعتمد هذه الشبكة الجديدة الموزعة على الحوسبة الطرفية التي أصبحت عاملاً جوهرياً غيّر طريقة تفكيرنا حول مراكز البيانات بشكل جذري".

من جانبه، قال جيردانو ألبيرتازي رئيس شركة "فرتيف" في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا: "يعد استشراف التوقعات الخاصة بالتحولات التكنولوجية لأكثر من عامين مهمة صعبة، وتأتي هذه الدراسة في إطار رؤية الشركة في زيادة استثماراتها لسوق الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا الذي يتميز بالنمو والتطور المستمر".

وأضاف: "تتوافق التوقعات النمو المستقبلي في الحوسبة المتطورة إلى حد كبير مع النمو المتوقع لتقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي وانترنت الأشياء وغيرها من التطبيقات المتطورة التي تعتمد على النطاق الترددي، ويتمثل التحدي في الوقت الراهن على إدارة البنية التحتية الجديدة بكفاءة وفعالية خاصة في ظل نقص عدد العاملين في مراكز البيانات، كما نشهد تزايد أهمية عامل الإدارة عن بعد لهذه المراكز بما فيها مراكز البيانات المعزولة والتي سيكون لها دوراً محورياً في المستقبل". 

وقد شارك في الدراسة أكثر من 800 اختصاصي في مجال مراكز البيانات، وشملت النتائج الهامة الأخرى أيضاً:

عدم تفاؤل المشاركين حول آفاق الطاقة الشمسية وطاقة الرياح في مراكز البيانات كما كانوا في عام 2014. فقد توقعوا في السابق أن تأتي قرابة 34% من طاقة مراكز البيانات من هذين المصدرين بحلول عام 2025. أما اليوم فقد تراجعت توقعاتهم لتصبح 21%، والتي ما زالت بحد ذاتها متفائلة لكنها أخذت بعين الاعتبار الإطار الزمني للتنفيذ.

من المتوقع أن يتقاعد 16% من المشاركين في الدراسة حول العالم بحلول عام 2025 لتتفاقم المشكلة الراهنة المتمثلة في نقص المواهب. وفي الولايات المتحدة تبلغ هذه النسبة رقماً منذراً بالخطر يقف عند 33%.

The Journey of The Lion King:



Widely considered an animated masterpiece, beloved by fans worldwide, Disney’s 1994’s classic “The Lion King” won Academy Awards® for the original song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” (Elton John, Tim Rice) and original score (Hans Zimmer). In 1997, the stage production inspired by the film made its Broadway debut, subsequently winning six Tony Awards®; 22 years later, it remains one of Broadway’s biggest hits, recently marking its 9,000thshow.



Favreau helmed 2016’s “The Jungle Book,” utilizing technology to tell the story in a contemporary and immersive way. The film wowed audiences and won an Oscar® for best visual effects (Robert Legato, Adam Valdez, Andrew R. Jones, Dan Lemmon), and the experience was eye-opening for the director, revealing a new world of possibility. But it was a trip to Africa that pointed him in the direction of “The Lion King.”



“I went on safari to Africa six months prior to first talking to Disney about doing this film,” says Favreau. “I remember when a warthog ran by our safari vehicle, one of the people in our group started singing ‘Hakuna Matata.’ And then when we saw lions up on a rock, they all said, ‘Oh, look, it looks like Lion King.’ This story has become a frame of reference that everybody now knows and accepts. It pops up in music, on TV shows, in comedy routines, as part of sketches. It’s such a deep part of our culture that it felt like there was a tremendous opportunity to build on that and to retell the story in a different medium.”



According to the director, the performances breathe life and humanity into the story. “The casting allows for interpretation while maintaining the spirit and personality of the classic characters,” he says. The all-star lineup includes stars from film, TV, theater and music, bringing back to the big screen iconic characters that audiences have long treasured—but in a whole new way.



Hans Zimmer (“Dunkirk,” “Hidden Figures”), who won an Oscar for his score for the animated classic, also scored the 2019 adventure. Utilizing pioneering virtual filmmaking techniques to bring some of film’s most treasured characters to life in a whole new way.



Meet the cast of “The Lion King”



SIMBA (voice of Donald Glover)SIMBAis destined to be a mighty king from the moment he’s born. As an over-confident cub who can’t wait to be king, Simba learns from his father, Mufasa, and mother, Sarabi, to respect the Circle of Life.



NALA (voice of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter) NALA befriends Simba as a young cub. Playful, competitive and equally matched, they are deemed a pair long before the idea ever occurs to them. PUMBAA (voice of Seth Rogen)PUMBAA is a perpetually gassy warthog and best friend to meerkat Timon. An ardent believer in the Circle of Life, Mufasa knows he won’t be around forever. His devotion to his family and kingdom knows no bounds.



SCAR (voice of Chiwetel Ejiofor)SCAR is the overlooked and undervalued brother to King Mufasa. He has long believed that he is the rightful ruler of the Pride Lands—if only his painfully noble brother would just step aside. When Simba is born, Scar’s dreams fall further from his reach, so the unhappy uncle hatches a plan to dispose of both Mufasa and the new cub with help from his hyena minions.



The Production’s Story



Disney’s “The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. But before the script was final, before the cast was fully assembled and before the digital sets could be designed, filmmakers committed to doing their homework to ensure the authenticity and believability of the creatures and habitats that would ultimately be created for the film.



The team was invited to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to study the stars of their film—the lions, hyenas and warthogs, among others—up close, in an effort to capture their true behavior and mannerisms.



Filmmakers partnered with the animal science department at Disney’s Animal Kingdom (DAK) in Orlando, Fla., to set up a nonintrusive camera system to record about 75 percent of the animals that would be featured in the film. They also recorded the resident lions and other animals at DAK to infuse the film with authentic vocalizations. The sound crew traveled to Germany’s Magdeburg Zoo to record the audio of lion cubs in an effort to capture baby Simba’s plot-shifting roar.



To experience the world of “The Lion King” and its wild inhabitants, filmmakers needed to trek to the world’s second largest continent—home to Kenya and a throng of animal-dense habitats. 13 key members of Favreau’s team embarked on a two-week safari to scout throughout Kenya, to observe first-hand the natural environment and animals of the Pride Lands, the primary location of “The Lion King.”



Throughout the trip, the team observed every species of animal that was featured in the original film, visited the entire region from North to South, stayed in five lodgings, used three different helicopters and six Safari Land Cruisers. It took more than 2,200 pounds of camera equipment to capture a whopping 12.3 TB of photographs.



Masai Mara, Kenya, which is part of Serengeti National Park, inspired the Pride Lands. Filmmakers photographed iconic grasslands and acacia trees, as well as the ever-changing skies. Animals include lions, leopards, cheetah, wildebeest, cape buffalo, zebra and antelope. Chyulu Hills, Kenya, is a mountain range is located in southeast Kenya that features grassland and montane forest. The rock formations found here inspired Pride Rock in the film.



The tufas in Mono Lake, California, provided extraordinary reference for the elephant graveyard in the story. Sesriem Canyon in Namibia provided the perfect inspiration for the film’s dramatic scene where Simba practices his roar. The narrow canyon is more than a half mile long and up to 100 feet deep.The Sossusvlei in Namibia’s Namib Desert and its spectacular sand dunes served as reference for the area that Simba finds himself in after leaving the Pride Lands.



The Aberdares’ waterfalls, including Karuru Waterfall—the tallest in Kenya—provided reference for Nala’s return to Simba’s life.



According to visual effects supervisor Rob Legato, the experience transcended the needs for the film. “There's something spiritual about being in Africa,” he says. “There's something about the collective of nature, how it balances, how one creature behaves and how the other animal either eats that thing or creates something that allows the ecology of the place to run. We realized there's a grand design somewhere. You cannot walk away from a trip like this without some spiritual feeling about the cradle of all life.”
