The hub will feature more than 7,000 hours worth of Arabic television shows
September 26, Cairo, Egypt - YouTube launched today a new hub called Mosalsalat which features more than 500 of the most iconic Arabic television series dating back to 1962 from across the Middle East and North Africa.
Users will now be able to browse through more than 7,000 hours of Arabic series on YouTube, from any device, anywhere. The hub categorizes shows by genre, and country of origin in effort to make the search process for these shows simpler.
While curating Mosalsalat, YouTube worked with several broadcast partners who own the rights to these shows, such as the Egyptian Television and Radio Union in Cairo and Al Watan TV Network in Syria. More than 250 of the shows featured on the platform are Syrian, such as “Taraef Al Arab,” a 1982 historical comic anthology of folklore tales, and the critically acclaimed first season of “Bab Al Hara.”
“With more than one billion users, YouTube is a platform where anyone, anywhere can access global and local entertainment. With launching Mosalsalat, we want users in the Middle East and North Africa to watch the best of Arabic television anytime they want. These shows have made millions over the past 50 years laugh, cry, and rejoice. We are glad to have been able to digitize a part of the region’s heritage,” said Zain Masri, Marketing Manager for Google Middle East and North Africa.
“Greetings from Maspero, the building with deep roots on the banks of the Nile in Cairo. We were very happy when YouTube asked us to join the Mosalsalat hub. In choosing the first one hundred dramas that were to be featured on Mosalsalat, we wanted to show the stages the television industry went through and which ended up forming the conscience of the Arab region,” Mohammed Salama, general manager of Maspero’s information center, added.
“At Watan Network we believe that Arabic users have the right to access premium content
without paying for subscriptions or additional costs. That is why we cooperated with YouTube to form the optimal formula of success to launch Mosalsalat. We are proud of what we have done so far, which we achieved through our outstanding cooperation with the YouTube Team in the region,” Watan Network Founder Mohamad Bassel Khiar said.
Mosalsalat comes almost a year after YouTube launched Aflam, a similar hub for Arabic films. Aflam currently features more than 1,000 movies and has had more than four million views since its launch.

٢٦ سبتمبر، القاهرة، مصر: أطلقت منصة YouTube اليوم قناة جديدة تحمل اسم "مسلسلات"، والتي تحتضن أكثر من 500 عمل درامي تلفزيوني من مختلف أنحاء منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.
وتتيح القناة الجديدة لمستخدميها مشاهدة أكثر من 7000 ساعة من المسلسلات العربية التي يعود تاريخ إنتاج بعضها إلى عام 1962. وتم تصنيف هذه العروض بحسب الأسلوب الدرامي وبلد المنشأ، و تصنيفات أخرى في محاولة لجعل عملية البحث عن المسلسلات ومشاهدتها أكثر بساطة.
وتعاونت شركة YouTube في جمع هـذه المسلسلات مع العديد من شركاء البث الذين يمتلكون حقوق النشـر مثل اتحاد الإذاعة والتلفزيون المصري وشبكة تلفزيون "وطن" السورية. وستعرض القناة أكثر من 250 عملاً سورياً مثل مسلسل "طرائف العرب" الذي يعود إنتاجه لعام 1982 ويروي مجموعة من القصص التاريخية بنكهة كوميدية، بالإضافة إلى الموسم الأول من مسلسل "باب الحارة" الذي حظي بمتابعة واسعة.
وبهذه المناسبة، قالت زين المصري، مدير تسويق المنتجات في شركة Google لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا: "أكثر من مليار مستخدم حول العالم يشاهدون منصة YouTube، فهي بذلك تشكل منصة رائدة تتيح للمشاهدين الوصول إلى الفيديوهات الترفيهية العالمية والمحلية أينما ومتى شاؤوا. وفي هذا الإطار، قمنا بإطلاق قناة "مسلسلات" لتمكين مستخدمينا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا من مشاهدة أفضل المسلسلات العربية التي خاطبت مشاعر الجماهير على مدى السنوات الخمسين الماضية. ونحن سعداء للغاية لأننا استطعنا رقمنة جزء من تراث هذه المنطقة".
ومن جهته قال المهندس/ محمد سلامة، مدير عام مركز المعلومات بقطاع الأمانة العامة باتحاد الإذاعة والتليفزيون المصري في ماسبيرو: "تحية من مبنى ماسبيرو ذو الجذور الضاربة عميقاً في تاريخ الدراما العربية على ضفاف النيل. سررنا كثيراً عندما طلب منا فريق عمل شركة YouTube الانضمام إلى القناة الجديدة عبر اختيار أول 100 عمل درامي لها. وقد أردنا إظهار مراحل تحوّل صناعة التلفزيون والتي أسهمت إلى حد كبير بتشكيل ضمير شعوب المنطقة".

وجاء إطلاق قناة Mosalsalat بعد عام تقريباً على إطلاق قناة Aflam للأفلام العربية، والتي تقدم أكثر من 1000 فيلم مميز ونجحت باستقطاب أكثر من 4 ملايين مشاهدة حتى الآن.
