During the Big Industrial Week in Cairo, Rosatom State Corporation will organize the Nuclear Industry Suppliers Forum for suppliers and contractors of El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project

Main Forum events are scheduled for October 8, 2019. The Forum is organized by Rosatom State Corporation and the Nuclear Power Plants Authority of Egypt (NPPA) at the venue of the Big Industrial Week Global Industrial and Technical Exhibition and Forum. Business Event LLC (part of Formika Group) is the official operator of the Big Industrial Week.

Forum participants are expected to include top officials of the NPPA, Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division (ASE), which is the general design engineer and contractor of the first Egyptian nuclear power plant, and several foreign companies representing potential suppliers and contractors of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project. Approximately 600 suppliers working in the nuclear power segment will take part in the event.

Forum participants will learn about current and pending tenders for Egypt's first nuclear power plant project, gain an understanding of Rosatom State Corporation procurement system, hold individual business meetings with representatives of the Russian nuclear energy sector involved in the project, and obtain information on participation in the construction of the El Dabaa facility.

ستعقد الفعاليات الأساسية للمنتدى يوم 8 أكتوبر 2019، من قبل مؤسسة روساتوم الحكومية، وهيئة محطات الطاقة النووية المصرية، على أرض المعرض والمنتدى الصناعي والتكنولوجي الدولي "الأسبوع الصناعي الكبير". 

ومن المتوقع أن يشارك في المنتدى قيادات من هيئة محطات الطاقة النووية المصرية، ووزارة الكهرباء والطاقة المتجددة في مصر، والقسم الهندسي من مؤسسة روساتوم، المصمم والمقاول العام لأول محطة للطاقة النووية في البلاد، بالإضافة إلى عدد من الشركات الأجنبية - الموردين والمقاولين المحتملين لأنشاء مشروع محطة الضبعة النووية. كما سيشارك في هذا الحدث الكبير ما يقرب من 600 من الموردين العاملين بالطاقة النووية.

سيتمكن المشاركون في هذا الحدث من الحصول على معلومات حول المناقصات الحالية والمستقبيلة لمشروع محطة الضبعة النووية في مصر، والتعرف على نظام المشتريات التابع لمؤسسة روساتوم الحكومية، وعقد اجتماعات عمل فردية مع ممثلي المؤسسات النووية الروسية المشاركة في المشروع، وكذلك تلقي إجابات على أسئلة حول المشاركة في بناء المحطة.

وفي هذا الصدد، قال انتون اترشكين، النائب الأول لرئيس المؤسسة الحكومية الروسية فورميكا (المنظم الرسمي لمؤتمر اسبوع الصناعة): "يعد مشروع الضبعة واحداً من المشاريع الكبرى ذو التقنيات العالية يتم تنفيذه علي أرض مصر. كما تعد مؤسسة روساتوم مؤسسة عالمية رائدة في مجال الصناعة النووية، وأنا واثق تماما من أن منتدى الموردين النوويين سيصبح حدثًا عالميًا بحق، لا يجذب رجال الأعمال المصريين فحسب، بل أيضًا الموردين والمقاولين من دول أخرى".

NYU Abu Dhabi researchers discover causes of Arabian Sea dead zone expansion

Abu Dhabi, UAE – June 16, 2019: A recent study conducted at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) has shown that the rapid warming of the Arabian Gulf could cause the intensification and expansion of the Arabian Sea dead zone, bringing the oxygen-depleted waters closer to the UAE’s shores.




The research was led by senior scientist at NYUAD’s Center for Prototype Climate Modeling (CPCM) Zouhair Lachkar, and co-authored by NYU Professor of Mathematics, Atmosphere, and Ocean Science K. Shafer Smith and Deputy Director at the Institute of Research for Development Marina Levy.




Researchers used computer modeling and simulation to show that the warming of the Arabian Gulf results in the deoxygenation and loss of bioavailable nitrogen in the Arabian Sea. This can potentially reduce marine habitat for species intolerant to hypoxic conditions and limit the growth of phytoplankton in the North Indian Ocean.




The oxygen-saturated waters of the Arabian Gulf sink to intermediate depths (200‐300m) ventilating the world's thickest Oxygen Minimum Zone (OMZ). Becoming more buoyant, the warmer Gulf waters are less prone to do so.




The warming of the Arabian Gulf is predicted to continue in the future, causing the intensification of the dead zone due to its lack of ventilation. Humans can take part in reducing the ocean’s deoxygenation and halt the expansion of the dead zone through working to reduce CO2 emissions.




"As marginal seas like the Arabian Gulf are not well represented in global climate models, our study is the first to show that local temperature changes in a semi-enclosed sea, like the Arabian Gulf, can have important consequences for oxygen and marine habitats not only locally but also for ecosystems thousands of kilometers away. Our findings, therefore, imply that temperature changes can lead to biases in global climate models at a scale much larger than the scale of the semi-enclosed seas themselves,” said Lachkar.




The current study contributes to Lachkar’s previously conducted research, which questions the reason behind the expansion of the Arabian Sea dead zone.

تحت رعاية كريمفيلدز وراديو بي بي سي، تبدأ الإحتفالات في اليوم الحادي عشر من الشهر بعرض من فرقة ذا مارتينيز برذرز وفرقة غرينغوز المعروفة محلياً.

وسيعقد الحدث الرئيسي في 14 و15 من الشهر في حديقة تا كالي الوطنية، مع عروض ضخمة من نخبة من النجوم الدوليين مثل تايغا وديفيد غيتا وجيمس أرثر.

For the First Time in Egypt, Mall of Arabia Hosts CIB Professional Squash Association World Tour Finals

Lukoil Marine Lubricants strengthens its collaboration with KOTC

After three successful years, Lukoil Marine Lubricants will once again supply Kuwait Oil Tanker Company’s full fleet of various tanker vessels




Dubai – United Arab Emirates – 11th of June 2019: Dubai-based subsidiary of LUKOIL, Lukoil Marine Lubricants (Lukoil), has reached a renewal agreement with the subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC). For the past three years, Lukoil has supplied KOTC’s full fleet of tanker vessels with their specialized product of marine lubricants. The new deal between the two companies will help to build upon the existing foundation of an already solid business working relationship. As per the contract terms, Lukoil will supply KOTC’s 24-strong fleet consisting of Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC’s), Product Carriers, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Carriers, and Bunker Vessels, for the next three years.



The official signing took place recently at KOTC office headquarters in Kuwait by June Manoharan, the Director of Lukoil Marine Lubricants and Ali Shehab, the Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company. Multiple representatives from both companies attended during the meeting at which the contract terms were agreed upon, and the agreement was signed. Attendees from Lukoil’s end included Regional Sales Manager Saif Anabtawi, Sales Manager Aravinth Sridharan, and Business Development Manager Joshan Manoharan. KOTC representatives included Team Leader for Dry Docking Bader Al Najjar, Acting Manager Jihad Al Bannay, and Superintendent Salim Al Shahoumi.




Voicing his satisfaction, Ali Shehab, the Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Oil Tanker Company stated, “Though our business relationship with Lukoil has been brief thus far, the company and its personnel have demonstrated nothing short of first-class quality with both their marine lubricant product, and the excellent services they have provided us with during our three-year collaboration. Ultimately, deciding to renew our contract was the best decision for KOTC as through their services, Lukoil has aided in our vision of pursuing commercially viable opportunities within the hydrocarbon shipping sector, and our mission of conducting operations to world class standards in an efficient manner while promoting safety and environmental responsibility.”




Echoing a similar sentiment, Jihad Al Bannay, the Acting Manager for Kuwait Oil Tanker Company added, “Managing an extensive fleet, we are continually seeking optimization methods to enhance our operations. This is not just for the benefit of our business, and to the advantage of our clients, but also for the well-being of the environmental landscape. Since 2015, Lukoil has helped us achieve this by repeatedly proving their innovative and technological expertise within the industry. This is something we are deeply appreciative of, and it was a major factor which contributed to our ability to easily agree upon a contract extension.”

Effective partnership for more efficient fleet

Bader Al Najjar, Team Leader for Dry Docking elaborated, “Given that our entire fleet of 24 vessels will be dry docking this year, the renewal of our deal with Lukoil couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. In the past three years of using Lukoil’s marine lubricants on board our vessels, our KOTC engineers have been very vocal about the numerous positive benefits which it has had in relation to previous products we have used. This combined with their iCOlube unit which works hand-in-hand to provide better vessel performance makes us optimistic about the next three years ahead.”

June Manoharan, Director of Lukoil Marine Lubricants emphasized, “This marks another landmark milestone for Lukoil as we seek to maintain our leading position in the market. دبي - الإمارات العربية المتحدة - 11 يونيو 2019: مواصلة لتعاونها الناجح خلال السنوات الثلاث الماضية، تمكنت شركة "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية ومقرها دبي، والتابعة لعملاق النفط والغاز الروسي "لوك أويل"، من تجديد اتفاقها مع شركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية، إحدى مؤسسات شركة البترول الكويتية. وعلى مدار الأعوام الثلاثة الماضية، قامت "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية بتزويد كافة سفن أسطول النقل الخاصة بشركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية بمنتجاتها المتخصصة من زيوت التشحيم البحرية، وستتيح الاتفاقية الجديدة مواصلة التعاون الناجح بين الشركتين، والبناء على ما تم تحقيقه من شراكة تجارية متينة؛ إذ ستزود شركة "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية للسنوات الثلاث القادمة أسطول شركة الناقلات الكويتية بأفضل منتجات زيوت التشحيم البحرية، ويبلغ قوام هذا الأسطول 24 سفينة، تضم عدداً من ناقلات النفط الخام العملاقة، وناقلات المنتجات البترولية، وسفن نقل غاز البترول المسال، وناقلات تزويد وقود السفن. 

وقد تم توقيع الاتفاقية في مقر مكتب شركة الناقلات في الكويت من قبل السيدة جون مانوهاران، مديرة "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية، والمهندس علي شهاب، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية. وحضر حفل التوقيع السيد سيف عنبتاوي، مدير المبيعات الإقليمي في "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية، وأرافينث سريدهاران، مدير المبيعات، وكذلك جوشان مانوهاران، مدير تطوير الأعمال. أما من طرف شركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية فقد حضر السيد بدر النجار، قائد فريق الحوض الجاف للشركة، وجهاد البنّاي، القائم بأعمال المدير، وسالم الشهومي، المشرف.

بهذه المناسبة صرح المهندس علي شهاب، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية، قائلاً: "خلال الفترة القصيرة لعلاقتنا التجارية مع شركة "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية والتي امتدت لمدة ثلاث سنوات، لمسنا بشكل واضح من الشركة وموظفيها مستوى خدمات الدرجة الأولى فيما يتعلق بمنتجات زيوت التشحيم البحرية، والخدمات الممتازة التي قدموها لنا خلال تعاوننا. هذا ما جعلنا نتخذ قرارنا بتجديد عقدنا لاختيار الأفضل لشركتنا، إن جودة منتجات "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية، ساعدتنا في تحقيق رؤيتنا في تطوير وتوسيع نطاق أعمالنا في قطاع شحن منتجات النفط والغاز، وتنفيذ مهمتنا المتمثلة في تبني العمليات التشغيلية وفقاً للمعايير العالمية بطريقة فعالة تعزز السلامة والمسؤولية البيئية".

وفي نفس السياق قال جهاد البنّاي، القائم بأعمال مدير شركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية: "نحن ندير أسطولًا كبيراً من السفن، وسنواصل البحث عن أساليب تحسين عملياتنا؛ ليس من أجل تطوير أعمالنا وتعزيز أعمال عملائنا، وإنما أيضاً من أجل المحافظة على حماية البيئة البحرية. ومنذ أن بدأت شراكتنا مع "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية عام 2015، تمكنا من تحقيق ذلك مراراً وتكراراً من خلال إبداعهم في إثبات خبرتهم التكنولوجية في هذه الصناعة. هذا الأمر نقدره بشكل كبير، وكان عاملاً رئيساً ساهم في قرارنا بتمديد العقد بيننا بكل ثقة".

شراكة فعالة لأسطول أكثر كفاءة

من جهته صرّح بدر النجار، قائد فريق الحوض الجاف في شركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية، قائلاً: "لقد قمنا بتجديد تعاقدنا مع شركة "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية في الوقت المناسب تماماً، والذي يتزامن فيه إدخال سفن أسطولنا البالغة 24 ناقلة إلى الأحواض الجافة، وخلال السنوات الثلاث الماضية من استخدام زيوت التشحيم البحرية من "لوك أويل" على متن سفننا، كان مهندسونا خير شهود على المزايا الإيجابية العديدة لمنتجاتهم، هذا بالإضافة إلى وحدة "آي كو لوب" iCOlube الخاصة بالشركة والتي تعمل جنباً إلى جنب لتوفير أداء أفضل لسفننا، وكل ذلك يجعلنا متفائلين بشأن علاقتنا معهم في السنوات الثلاث المقبلة".

وتعليقاً على تجديد هذه الاتفاقية أكدت جون مانوهاران مديرة "لوك أويل" للزيوت البحرية، على أهمية هذه الخطوة قائلة: "تمثل الثقة الكبيرة التي أبداها القائمون على شركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية بتجديد تعاقدنا معهم علامة فارقة في مسيرتنا، ونحن نسعى للحفاظ على هذه المكانة الرائدة في سوق زيوت التشحيم البحرية، ونشعر بالسعادة بتجديد هذه اتفاقية مع شركة رائدة وعريقة في صناعة النقل البحري، لاسيما وأن كلا الطرفين يشعر برضا كبير عن نتيجة هذا التعاقد، ونحن ندرك الأهمية التي توليها شركة ناقلات النفط الكويتية لخدماتنا واعتمادها على جودة زيوت التشحيم البحرية في استدامة واستقرار عملياتها، كونها مزوداً عالمياً لخدمات النقل البحري، وسنكون ملتزمين بالحد الأقصى لتعزيز رؤيتهم والنجاح بتحقيق أهدافهم من خلال التميز في توفير منتجاتنا وتقديم خدماتنا. إننا في "لوك أويل: على يقين من أن السنوات الثلاث المقبلة ستكون على ذات القدر من التميز والنجاح الذي كانت عليه العلاقة التجارية في السنوات الثلاث الماضية، إن لم تكن أفضل، ونحن على ثقة من أن شراكتنا الاستراتيجية هي مؤشر على نجاحات كبيرة سيتم إنجازها فيما بيننا في المستقبل".
