Epicor Reveals 2016 MEAI Customer Excellence Award Winners


Demonstrating ERP Implementation Excellence

Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth, recently announced the winners of this year’s MEAI (Middle East, Africa and India) Customer Excellence Awards at the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai. The 2016 list, unveiled during Epicor Dubai Insights 2016, consisted of Epicor customers in the region who have shown outstanding planning and deployment of the company’s wide range of enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions, resulting in one-of-a-kind customer experience, higher efficiency, and enhanced overall business performance.
This year’s winners are:  
  • Business Transformation: Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo Group, one of the largest independent, family owned business conglomerate in the Gulf region.
  • Rapid Implementation: Automotive Management Services, a company with a proven track record of providing innovative fleet management solutions for vehicles and equipment in emerging markets.
  • Best Business Practice Adaption: Zaker Trading, a one-stop supply house of specialised products and accessories in welding, lifting, safety, and other engineering-related products.
The MEAI Customer Excellence Awards started in 2014 as a regional initiative. The awards have now grown into an international programme, with separate award ceremonies held across the globe, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, with a global finale taking place later in the year.

The awards provide an opportunity for Epicor customers to benchmark their success in ERP implementation, improve employee engagement with technology and boost confidence in similar information technology investments. The recipients in the region are revealed annually during the company’s customer events where companies can engage and exchange information with other Epicor customers, partners and industry experts on how to better use Epicor solutions in their respective businesses.

وتأسست "جوائز تميز العملاء في الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا والهند" خلال العام 2014 كمبادرة إقليمية، حيث تطورت فيما بعد لتصبح اليوم برنامجاً عالمياً يقيم حفلات منفصلة لتوزيع هذه الجوائز حول العالم، بما في ذلك الولايات المتحدة والمملكة المتحدة والشرق الأوسط ومنطقة المحيط الهادئ، مع إقامة نهائي عالمي في وقت لاحق من العام.

Captains of Careem: Thousands of Job Opportunities in Egypt




Cairo, May 19, 2016 - Careem’s Captains have been serving Egyptians since they started operations in 2014. Since their establishment, Careem has done more than offer a reliable transportation service to Egyptians - they’ve impacted the Egyptian economy by creating thousands of job opportunities for people across Egypt’s major cities, and bringing in millions of dollars in investments.

Careem recruits more than 2000 new captains a month, adding to their current reserve of 12,000 Captains. Through recruitment as such, Careem offers stable income to thousands of families, and allows drivers to work on their own vehicles, in their own time. The job opportunities offered by Careem come at the crucial time when unemployment rates are at their highest, allowing people from all walks of life to observe an honest and alternative employment opportunities.

Demand for Careem’s services is on the rise, with a steady monthly growth rate of 40%-60%.
Careem also employs hundreds of Egyptians at its call center, with over 250 people at its headquarters in Egypt alone, and growing.

Aside from offering employment opportunities, Careem has also impacted the Egyptian economy by bringing in more than USD 70 million worth of foreign investments into the company, the most recent being from The Abraaj Group, who invested $60 million for expansion across the region, including Egypt.

“Careem has changed how I think about educating my children,” says Careem Captain Hany Shehata, 40 years of age said. “Technology is a big component of education today, and therefore becoming an even bigger dream towards my children’s education. I don’t just want to educate my children, but I want to give them the best education I can possibly give them”.

Hayaam Emad, 32 year old single mother of two, is also a Captain with Careem, and says; “I believe you have to evolve your skills and acquire new skill sets all the time. No one else is going to do that for you, or help you through a tough spot. I took up driving for Careem when I was about to declare bankruptcy. It’s not hard work, and it helps me make good money so I’m grateful for Careem providing me with this opportunity”.

كريم توفر آلاف الفرص من العمل للكباتن

Sideralis by Louis Moinet: Inverted Double Tourbillon Drives The Universe


Louis Moinet's latest creation, the Sideralis inverted double tourbillon is an innovative new look at watchmaking by the Swiss atelier. This unique timepiece is driven by two outsized opposing tourbillons set above the movement, while depicting the universe and its constellations moving in ethereal fashion.

In the words of Louis Moinet’s CEO Jean-Marie Schaller, “Sideralis is an invitation to embark on an interstellar journey - a whole new kind of discovery that’s singularly technical and poetic.”
The timepiece in question defies comparison, simply because to date, Sideralis does not have any equivalent anywhere in the world of watchmaking, and is protected by two patent applications. Sideralis makes an unequivocal statement: Louis Moinet is perhaps the last fully-independent firm to be investing in new components with the sole aim of inspiring awe among lovers of fine watches.

This staggering timepiece of epic proportions is structured around two especially extraordinary tourbillons. Both of these tourbillons are oversized, with cages measuring 14.9 mm - half as big again as the average. This is the largest assembly of two tourbillons ever to have existed.

“Aside from our exacting chronometric standards, this approach adds a fascinating visual dimension to the watch; a touch of magic that we’ve decided to gift to lovers of fine watches, just so they can contemplate beauty and horological art in all its splendor,” explains Schaller.

The two tourbillons are designed to be physically above the movement - above the dial, even. The two raised cages are large as life and wholly visible, revealing balance wheels with beautifully styled screws - and an absolutely incomparable aesthetic appearance.

The tourbillons rotate in opposite directions. The continuous coming and going, side by side, is not just for stylistic reasons; the counter-rotation provides the motive power required for the star mechanism – the Sideralis complication.

For the first time ever, a complication is driven by a double tourbillon: a time dial situated at 12 o’clock, comprising two discs, one atop the other. The top one features a tiny hand-painted picture. This hand-crafted marvel depicts the universe and its constellations of stars and planets, painted one by one on a dark blue sidereal background. The animation completes one counter-clockwise rotation every 60 seconds.

At 12 o’clock on this upper disc there is a circular opening, through which can be glimpsed the three planets painted on the lower disc, seen to be rotating in the opposite direction at the same speed. The feature represents a wholly new conceptual and artistic approach.  

Through the opening, the lower disc reveals the planet Mars, the Moon, and Mercury in succession. “These three bodies have not been chosen at random,” says Schaller. “Each of the micro-paintings includes genuine dust from the heavenly body in question: a fragment of Mars, moon dust, and extremely rare fragments of the Rosetta Stone, whose scientific name is Sahara 99555. This stone has travelled across the universe to reach us: it’s the oldest known to mankind, believed by the scientific community to have come from Mercury and to be four and half billion years old. Fragments of meteorites from Mars, the Moon and Sahara 99555 also appear on the lower disc, positioned between the planets, floating in the cosmos, or included in a hand-painted shooting star.”

The inverted double tourbillon, powering an exclusive complication, is an unprecedented innovation, with two patents pending to protect it. The Sideralis caliber is also fully exclusive to Louis Moinet, mounted on a hand-painted aventurine dial that matches the universe depicted on the time disc. Sideralis comes in a 47.4 mm grey gold case – and in a limited edition of just 28 watches.
