Pre-implantation Genetic Testing is performed as apart of the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) process at IVI clinics to determine if an inherited mutation has been passed on to an embryo. The procedure involves removing a few cells from a five or six-day old embryo, known as a blastocyst, and screening for the mutation. Once the results are obtained, the family can choose to move along in the process and try for a pregnancy with the healthy, mutation-free embryos, or store them for future use.

أبوظبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 28 نوفمبر 2018: شهد طب الخصوبة تقدماً هائلاً خلال الآونة الأخيرة. ليس فقط للنساء اللواتي يعانين من حالات العقم ويبحثن عن المساعدة الطبية، بل إن العديد من عوامل العقم عند الرجال أصبحت شائعة أيضاً اليوم. وقدمت العلوم الحديثة بخاصة التقنيات المساعدة على الإنجاب حلولاً قيمة لهذه المشاكل إلى درجة أن الآباء الذين لديهم تاريخ من الاضطرابات الوراثية أصبحت لديهم الآن فرصة للتخلص من خطر الأمراض الوراثية المنقولة لأبنائهم بشكل كامل.

وقد لوحظ أن أكثر من 61% من حالات الإجهاض تحدث عندما يكون لدى الجنين عدداً غير طبيعي من الكروموسومات. ومع ذلك، يمكن أن يساعد اختبار التشخيص الوراثي ما قبل الزرع (PGT) في القضاء على المخاطر والتخفيف من احتمالات الانتقال غير الناجح للأجنة إلى الأمهات. ويساعد الاختبار على التعرف على صحة الجنين، وبالتالي لا يزيد من فرص الحمل فحسب، بل يضمن أيضاً العمل على إتمام حمل صحي وولادة طفل سليم.

وقالت "فيدالس": "لا تتوفر علاجات أطفال الأنابيب فقط للأزواج الذين يحتاجون مساعدة للحصول على الحمل فحسب، بل أن علاجات أطفال الأنابيب ينبغي أن تقترن باختبار التشخيص الوراثي ما قبل الزرع PGT لأي شخص يخطط لتكوين عائلة ويريد أن يقلل من خطر انتقال أمراض وراثية لأطفاله".
ويتم إجراء التشخيص الوراثي ما قبل الزرع PGT كجزء من مراحل علاجات أطفال الأنابيب داخل مختبرات مركز IVI Fertility الشرق الأوسط لتحديد ما إذا كانت طفرة موروثة قد تم تمريرها إلى جنين من عدمه. ويتم الاختبار عن طريق إزالة بعض الخلايا من جنين عمره خمسة أو ستة أيام يعرف باسم "الكيسة الأريمية"، ومن ثم فحص الطفرات الجينية التي قد يحتوي عليها. وبمجرد الحصول على النتائج، يمكن للعائلة أن تختار المضي قدماً في هذه العملية ومحاولة الحمل باستخدام الأجنة السليمة الخالية من الطفرات الجينية، أو تخزينها للاستخدام في المستقبل.
وأضافت "فيدالس": "يمثل التشخيص الوراثي ما قبل الزرع PGT خياراً رائعاً لأي زوجين يحملان طفرة جينية ويرغبون في إنجاب طفل حالياً أو في المستقبل. ولا يضمن الاختبار نقل أجنة سليمة وخالية من الطفرات الجينية إلى الرحم فحسب، ولكنه أيضاً يوفر للأزواج راحة بالغة في الحصول على طفل سليم ومعافى".
