ومن جانبه أعرب المخرج رامى امام عن سعادته بالتعاون مع الفنان الكبير عادل امام على مدار السنوات الماضية فى مسلسلاته الرمضانية قائلا" لقد كان لى الشرف ان اكون مخرج أعمال فنان كبير بحجم عادل امام فى اعمال كثيرة لاقت نجاحا كبيرا". وأكد "شركة ماجنوم ستضع كل امكانياتها للخروج بعمل فنى ضخم ومختلف يليق بفنان صاحب تاريخ و ثقل مثل عادل امام".

هذا وقد تأسست شركة "ماجنوم" للإنتاج والتوزيع الفنى والسينمائى مع مطلع عام 2017 حيث تقوم الشركة بالتحضير للعديد من المفاجأت والتعاقدات خلال العام الجارى على ان يتم البدأ فى تنفيذ المشروعات قريبا.

AUC ALUMNA AND PHD STUDENT AWARDED FIRST PLACE AT MAGDI YACOUB HEART DISEASE CONFERENCE

March 2, 2017, Cairo – Sarah Halawa, PhD student and alumna of The American University in Cairo (AUC) was recently awarded first prize for her project on the genetic basis of cardiovascular disease in the Egyptian population, submitted to a rheumatic heart disease conference co-organized by the Magdi Yacoub Foundation and Aswan Heart Centre as well as the Pan-African Society of Cardiology. Halawa and her team were also awarded the Young Investigator award for the same project. “I always wanted to pursue a research topic that would benefit my country, Egypt,” Halawa explained, saying that her current research with the Magdi Yacoub Foundation fulfills her dream.

At the conference, held in January, titled Rheumatic Heart Disease: From Molecules to the Global Community, Halawa’s project concentrated specifically on valve interstitial cells, which play a major role in physiological conditions of the heart including rheumatic heart disease. Halawa and her supervisors worked primarily on the analysis of DNA data, partnering with the Harefield Heart Science Centre at the Imperial College London. The conference showcased studies on diverse topics and included internationally produced work from countries such as Namibia, New Zealand and Guatemala.

A seasoned AUC scholar, Halawa previously earned her bachelor’s in electronics engineering with a minor in mathematics and was presented with the President’s Cup in 2011, awarded to the top-performing student in the graduating class. She also earned her master’s in physics from AUC in 2014, graduating with highest honors. During her time at AUC, she participated as a micro-projects committee member with the former student club, Alashanek Ya Balady, which sought to help in sustainably achieving social and economic development in Ain El Seera. She also previously helped in organizing a blood donation campaign with the Help Club. She then decided to pursue her PhD in applied sciences with a specialization in biotechnology.

“I’ll always be grateful for Dr. Ahmed Moustafa for encouraging me to join the program,” said Halawa.

Moustafa, director of the biotechnology graduate program, encouraged Halawa to apply to the PhD program in biotechnology, despite her concerns about coming from a different academic background. She viewed a shift to this field as an important opportunity to have a direct impact on societal challenges in Egypt.

Moustafa was also key in helping Halawa obtain funding for her PhD studies, supervising her on a joint research venture between AUC and the Magdi Yacoub Foundation. This research project allowed Halawa to seek funding from the Al Alfi PhD Fellowship in Applied Sciences and Engineering. “I felt a lot of warmth from the Al Alfi Foundation,” Halawa said, “It is because of their continuous support and encouragement that I am able to work toward my PhD at AUC.”

In their research, Halawa and Moustafa collaborated with Yasmine Aguib, deputy director of research of the Magdi Yacoub Foundation. The product of this research, an abstract titled “Beyond Genetics: Profiling Genome-wide DNA Methylation Patterns in Human Aortic and Mitral Valves,” was the project featured this past January in the Rheumatic Heart Disease conference and awarded first place.

She is now continuing to work with Moustafa and Aguib in the hopes of identifying the key genes and other relevant players responsible for vital heart functionalities. “The objective of this endeavor,” specified Halawa, “is to discover genetic mutations specific to the Egyptian population that cause cardiovascular disease and propose molecular interventions for prediction, diagnosis and treatment.” In her work, she continues to make use of her strong computational and mathematical background as well as her PhD training.

Looking to the future, Halawa aspires to establish a research program to better understand the genetic basis of other major diseases in Egypt. “I wish to promote translational medicine in Egypt where we can take scientific research to the clinic with the goal of improving the public health of the Egyptian people,” she declared.

HISTORIAN MARINA RUSTOW TO GIVE TWO PUBLIC LECTURES AT AUC

Marina Rustow is Khedouri A. Zilkha professor of Jewish Civilization in the Near East at Princeton University and the director of the Princeton Geniza Lab. Rustow is a social historian of the medieval Islamic world whose work draws primarily on the unique archive preserved in the Cairo Geniza. Rustow received a MacArthur Grant in 2015 in recognition of her groundbreaking scholarship.

Two public lectures, “Digital Tools for Arabic Geniza Documents,” and “Recycled Fatimid State Documents from the Cairo Geniza,” organized by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at The American University in Cairo, in cooperation with Bayard Dodge Foundation. The “Digital Tools for Arabic Geniza Documents” will discuss how recent efforts to digitize Geniza documents have made them more easily accessible than ever before. The “Recycled Fatimid State Documents from the Cairo Geniza,” will shed the light on hundreds—possibly thousands—of medieval documents of state in Arabic script, including decrees, rescripts, petitions, tax receipts and fiscal accounts from the Fatimid period found in the Cairo Geniza.

Siemens celebrates major milestone in Egypt megaproject

• Siemens reinforces its commitment to sustainable development of Egypt’s power sector
• Additionally, company partners with BMZ to support vocational and occupational training in Egypt: more than 5,500 Egyptians being trained

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi symbolically inaugurated the first phase of Siemens’ megaproject in Egypt today. The event marks an important milestone towards the completion of the project, which will boost the country’s power generation capacity by 45 percent when finished. Together with its local partners, Orascom Construction and Elsewedy Electric, Siemens broke all records in modern power plant construction by connecting 4.8 gigawatts (GW) of new capacity to the grid in only 18 months after the signing of the contract for the company’s biggest single order ever.

Complementary to the megaproject, Siemens supports the development of future highly skilled Egyptian workforce, and has announced the details of a strategic alliance agreement between Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the company to support occupational training in Egypt. The announcement was made by Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens AG at an event, which was attended by local officials and business leaders.

As part of the agreement, Siemens will join forces with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of BMZ, for the establishment and the operation of a joint training center as well as the strengthening of one selected Egyptian public vocational training institute. The program was designed in line with Egypt’s objectives outlined in “Egypt Vision 2030” to promote long-term economic growth, create new jobs and increase the competiveness of Egyptian industries.

“In addition to building a modern and efficient power infrastructure for the Egyptian people, Siemens is also supporting the training of a local workforce of more than 5,500 talented individuals in the next four years,” said Joe Kaeser. “This strategic partnership with Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development signifies a new milestone in Siemens’ history in Egypt, and underscores our joint commitment to support the country’s long-term growth and development.”

Gerd Müller, German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development: “Sustainable development needs private investment and a qualified workforce. Our close cooperation with Siemens will ensure that the new vocational training centre takes the needs of the local job market into account. We want to provide the basis for further investment and more jobs in Egypt.”

Occupational training and the development of local skills are crucial to boosting local growth and increasing hiring prospects in the power industry and other sectors of the economy. For instance, in the energy sector alone, more than 20,000 workers and technicians are engaged at Siemens’ three power plant sites during implementation.

The new training center will serve as a sustainable vocational and industry-specific training provider that enriches the country’s technical talent pool. When completed, the approximately 2,000 square meter facility, which will be built in the Ain Sokhna area, will serve to train 5,500 selected technicians and engineers over four years. Career starters will be trained in advanced skills such as operation, maintenance, and repair in the energy sector; in addition to vast range of cross-industrial electrical and mechanical trades; automation and control, mechatronics as well as other areas that are important for the Egyptian economy.

Located at the New Suez Canal Development Zone, the facility will offer the latest technology, simulating ‘real-life’ conditions, using a variety of training courses and different approaches to prepare technicians and engineers throughout the region with specific skills that will be needed in their careers.

Siemens and GIZ will also strengthen one public vocational training institute, following the example of the German vocational education system to meet future professional and business demands. Successful graduates will be offered the opportunity to join the BMZ-Siemens training center and later on have the chance to join the expanding industry sectors in Egypt.

The construction of the training center is scheduled to begin in 2017, with the facility scheduled to open in 2018. Siemens is one of Germany’s largest private educational institutions with training programs for 9,000 apprentices and university students.

The construction works for Siemens’ megaproject in Egypt are enormous. More than 1,600,000 tons of material - including 960,000 tons of concrete and 48,000 tons of rebar steel - will be processed until completion. At Beni Suef, massive excavation works were necessary to prepare the site, leading to the removal of around 1,750,000 m3 of rocks. This is equivalent to the volume of the smaller Giza pyramid. When completed, each of the three power plants, located at Beni Suef, New Capital and Burullus, is set to become the biggest gas-fired combined-cycle power station in the world. Altogether, the three power plants will have a combined capacity of 14.4 GW.

To increase the capacity of the transmission network nationwide, Siemens has successfully put the first three substations into operation that will transmit the electricity generated by the three power plants to Egypt’s power grid. The three substations, Etay El-Baroud, Maghagha and Kafr El Zayat, were ready for operation within ten months from signing the contracts, to match the implementation timeframe of the power plants. In December 2016, Siemens and El Sewedy Electric T&D, signed a contract with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the design, engineering, supply and installation of six substations, located in the cities of Maghagha, Etay El-Baroud, Banha, Wadi El-Natroun, Assiut and Kafr El Zayat. The remaining substations will be completed and connected to the grid by the end of December 2017.

Siemens’ megaproject in Egypt also comprises 9-year service and maintenance agreements for the three power plants to help ensure the long-term reliability, availability and optimal performance of the units. The service and maintenance operations will be supported by Siemens digital services products and offerings, tapping into the company’s advanced data analytics.

Financing was also an important source of support for the megaproject: The financing package for the Siemens part of the contracts was structured by Siemens Financial Services (SFS). It also included a tailored guarantee concept. The financing of major parts of Siemens’ and its local partners’ scope, for the three power plants, was provided by a consortium of international and regional banks. The credit facilities are largely covered by Export Credit Agencies.

سيمنس تحتفل بإنجاز هام في مشروعاتها العملاقة في مصر

أعطى اليوم فخامة الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي، رئيس جمهورية مصر العربية، والمستشارة الألمانية أنجيلا ميركل إشارة البدء لانطلاق المرحلة الأولى من مشروعات سيمنس العملاقة في مصر حيث يُمثَّل هذا الحدث علامة فارقة على طريق استكمال هذه المشروعات والتي من المنتظر أن تُعزز قدرات مصر لإنتاج الطاقة الكهربائية بنحو 45% إضافية مقارنة بالقدرات الحالية بمجرد الانتهاء منها. ومن خلال العمل سوياً مع شركائها المحليين:  أوراسكوم للإنشاءات والسويدي إليكتريك نجحت سيمنس في تسجيل رقم قياسي عالمي جديد في تنفيذ مشروعات عملاقة بهذا الحجم وربط 4,8 جيجاوات بالشبكة القومية للكهرباء في 18 شهراً فقط من تاريخ توقيع العقود لأكبر مشروع في تاريخ الشركة. هذا وقد تم تنظيم احتفالية بالقاهرة تم التواصل مع مواقع الإنشاءات للمحطات الثلاث عبر الفيديو كونفرانس.

ومن أجل دعم جهود إعداد أجيال جديدة من العمالة المصرية المُدربة على أعلى مستوى أعلنت شركة سيمنس عن تفاصيل التحالف الإستراتيجي بين الشركة وبين الوزارة الاتحادية للتعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية في ألمانيا من أجل دعم التعليم الفني والتدريب المهني في مصر حيث قام جو كايسر الرئيس التنفيذي ورئيس مجلس الإدارة لشركة سيمنس بالإعلان عن هذا التحالف خلال احتفالية بحضور عدداً من مسئولي الحكومة وقادة الأعمال.

وفي إطار هذه الاتفاقية، ستتعاون سيمنس مع الوكالة الألمانية للتعاون الدولي GIZ نيابة عن وزارة التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية من أجل تأسيس وتشغيل مركز تدريب مشترك فضلاً عن تطوير إحدى المعاهد العامة للتعليم الفني والتدريب المهني حيث تم تصميم هذه المبادرة في سياق رؤية مصر 2030 لتحقيق التنمية المُستدامة عبر تحفيز خطط النمو الاقتصادي طويل الأمد وخلق فرص عمل ودعم تنافسية الصناعات المصرية.

ومن جهته صرح جو كايسر، قائلاً: "بالإضافة إلى التزام سيمنس ببناء منظومة طاقة في مصر تتسم بالكفاءة ووفقاً لأحدث التقنيَّات، فإن الشركة ستدعم عملية تدريب العمّالة المصرية عبر توفير التدريب لنحو 5,500 من الشباب المصري الماهر على مدار الأعوام الأربعة المُقبلة". وأضاف: "إن هذه الشراكة الإستراتيجية مع الوزارة الألمانية للتعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية الألمانية تُمثَّل محطة جديدة في تاريخ سيمنس في مصر، كما إنها تؤكد على التزامنا المشترك بدعم عمليات التطور والتنمية طويلة الأجل في مصر".

وتعليقاً على الشراكة مع سيمنس، صرح جيرد مولر، وزير التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية لألمانيا قائلاً: "إن جهود التنمية المُستدامة تتطلب استثمارات القطاع الخاص وتوافر عمالة مُدربة. من خلال تعاوننا الوثيق مع سيمنس فإننا سنعمل على ضمان قدرة مركز التدريب الفني على توفير احتياجات سوق العمل المحلي وخاصة أن هدفنا هو توفير القاعدة اللازمة لجذب المزيد من الاستثمارات والمزيد من الفرص في مصر".

إن التدريب المهني ورفع قدرات العمالة الفنية يعتبر أمر حيوي من أجل تحفيز النمو وزيادة فرص التوظيف في قطاع الطاقة وغيره من القطاعات الأخرى. فعلى سبيل المثال يعمل حالياً نحو 20,000 عامل في مواقع انشاءات محطات سيمنس الثلاث في قطاع الطاقة.

ومن المنتظر أن يصبح مركز التدريب الجديد منصة مُستدامة لتوفير التدريب المهني في عدد من المجالات الصناعية المتخصصة بهدف زيادة عدد الكفاءات المهنية في مصر. وعند استكمال انشائه، فإن المركز الذي تبلغ مساحته 2,000 متر مربع، ويقع في منطقة العين السخنة، سيقوم بتدريب نحو 5,500 مهندس وفني سيتم اختيارهم على مدار أربع أعوام، حيث سيتم تدريب هؤلاء الشباب على مهارات متطورة في مجالات التشغيل والصيانة والإصلاح في قطاع الطاقة، إلى جانب عدد كبير من البرامج التدريبية لخدمة نطاق واسع من الصناعات مثل: التخصصات الميكانيكية والكهربائية والميكنة الآلية والتحكم والميكاترونيكس وغيرها من المجالات الهامة للاقتصاد المصري.

المركز الذي يقع في محور تنمية قناة السويس بالعين السخنة سيعتمد على أحدث التقنيَّات التي تحاكي الحياة الواقعية من خلال عدد كبير من البرامج التدريبية والمنهجيات المتعددة لتأهيل الفنيين والمهندسين على مستوى منطقة الشرق الأوسط ككل بالمهارات التي سيحتاجون إليها في حياتهم المهنية.

وإلى جانب إنشاء مركز التدريب، ستتعاون سيمنس ووزارة التعاون الاقتصادي والتنمية في ألمانيا في تطوير أحد المعاهد العامة للتعليم الفني والتدريب المهني استناداً إلى نظام التعليم الفني في ألمانيا وستُتاح الفرصة للخريجين المتميزين للالتحاق بمركز التدريب لدعم التطور في قطاع الطاقة في مصر.

ومن المتوقع أن يبدأ العمل في إقامة المركز في 2017 على أن يتم افتتاحه رسمياَ في 2018. الجدير بالذكر أن سيمنس واحدة من أكبر مؤسسات التعليمية الخاصة في ألمانيا في توفير برامج التدريب لأكثر من 9.000 طالب في التعليم الفني والجامعات.

يُشار هنا أن مشروعات سيمنس العملاقة في مصر شهّدت العديد من الأعمال الإنشائية الهائلة، حيث يتم استخدام أكثر من 1.6 مليون طن من مواد البناء، منها 960,000 طن من الخرسانة و48,000 طن من حديد التسليح. تم أيضاً بذل جهود كبيرة في تسوية التربة وإزالة الصخور والأحجار، ففي محطة بني سويف على سبيل المثال تم القيام بأعمال حفر عملاقة من أجل إعداد الموقع وهو ما أدى إلى إزالة نحو 1,750,000 متر مكعب وهي نفس كمية الحجارة الموجودة في الهرم الأصغر. وبمجرد الانتهاء منها، فإن كل محطة من المحطات الثلاثة الموجودة في بني سويف والعاصمة الجديدة والبرلس ستصبح أكبر محطة في العالم تعمل بالغاز الطبيعي وتعتمد على تكنولوجيا الدورة المركبة بإجمالي قدرة كهربائية تبلغ 14,4 جيجاوات.

ومن أجل زيادة قدرات شبكة نقل الكهرباء، نجحت سيمنس في ديسمبر الماضي في تشغيل أول ثلاث محطات محولات في إيتاي البارود وكفر الزيات ومغاغة لنقل الطاقة الموّلدة من المحطات الثلاث وربطها بالشبكة الوطنية حيث تم تشغيل هذه المحطات خلال 10 شهور من تاريخ توقيع العقود بما يتماشى مع الجدول الزمني لتشغيل المحطات الثلاث. ففي ديسمبر 2016، وقّع تحالف شركة سيمنس والسويدي إليكتريك لنظم القوى على عقد مع الشركة المصرية لنقل الكهرباء لتصميم وتركيب وتوريد ستة محطات محولات في مدن مغاغة وإيتاي البارود وبنها ووادي النطرون وأسيوط وكفر الزيات وسيتم الانتهاء من محطات المحولات المتبقية وربطها بالشبكة بنهاية ديسمبر 2017.

من ناحية أخرى، وقّعت سيمنس على عقد صيانة وخدمات لمدة 9 سنوات للمحطات الثلاثة، بهدف ضمان أعلى معدلات الاعتمادية والإتاحة الإنتاجية والكفاءة في الأداء للمحطات على المدى الطويل وذلك استناداً إلى خدمات سيمنس الرقمية والتكنولوجيا المتطورة لتحليل بيانات المحطات.  

وكان توفير التمويل هو أحد العناصر الأساسية لتنفيذ هذه المشروعات وفي هذا الإطار تولت إدارة سيمنس للخدمات المالية بوضع هيكلية لتوفير التمويل لنطاق عمل سيمنس في المشروع بما في ذلك توفير ضمانة مالية مخصصة لهذا المشروع. كما تم توفير التمويل لجزء كبير من نطاق عمل سيمنس وشركائها المحليين في المحطات الثلاثة من خلال تحالف من البنوك الدولية والإقليمية. وقامت وكالات ائتمان الصادرات بتغطية الجزء الأكبر من التسهيلات الائتمانية للمشروع.
