AUC SIGNS A COOPERATION PROTOCOL WITH THE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR WOMEN

February 9, 2017, Cairo – Hussein Amin, director of the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism at The American University in Cairo (AUC), signed a cooperation protocol with Maya Morsi, president of The National Council for Women (NCW), to initiate cooperation between the two institutions with regard to women's development.  

Morsi expressed her happiness having signed the protocol, “the protocol is intended to organize various activities for the development of Egyptian women's capabilities and skills, including the preparation of media and political professional development programs for women in various fields.” In addition to that, the two sides have agreed on producing joint Public Service Announcements (PSA) aimed to raise awareness of women's issues and their main role in society. The PSAs will be aired in all media channels during 2017, the year of Egyptian women. 

Amin praised the efforts of NCW to improve the conditions of Egyptian women, pointing to the importance of the year 2017 being the year of Egyptian women and stressing that all institutions should work together and cooperate for the empowerment of women in all fields and show women’s positive role more clearly in the media.

"It is an excellent opportunity for a fruitful cooperation between two recognized national and global entities. Through this protocol, we will work together to build a solid relationship for the benefit of women in Egypt,” he said.

AUC and NCW agreed on strengthening cooperation in the areas of capacity building and developing Egyptian women's capabilities and skills, including introduction of media and political professional development programs to women in various fields through specialized training during this year.

The mission of the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism is to be a catalyst in advancing the quality of journalism, by preparing graduate students for broadcast careers, with trainings in a professional development program, and by being engaged in the conversation on media through the Arab Media & Society journal. The center aims to advance the fields of television and digital journalism by offering first class post-graduate education and tailored practical training.

إنطلاق فعاليات "كيداثون" اكبر ماراثون للأطفال فى القرية الذكية

الاعلان عن 18 فائزاً و التبرع بالالعاب للاجئين السوريين

القاهرة ، 10 فبراير 2017 - إنطلقت اليوم فعاليات "كيداثون" والذي تنظمه "موريكاتا " ، ذراع شركة عمر سمره (وايلد جوانابنا) الداعمة للأطفال ، في القرية الذكية بمدينة السادس من اكتوبر برعاية شركة انيرشيا العقارية. وقد شارك فى الفعاليات الاطفال في الفئة العمرية بين  6 سنوات و 14 عاماً ، و تم تتويج 18 فائزاً ، كما حصل جميع الأطفال المشاركين على شهادات وميداليات تكريماً لهم لاشتراكهم في الماراثون.

وقد بدأ الاطفال المشاركين تمارين الإحماء في الصباح الباكر قبل السباق، حيث تم توزيعهم على ثلاثة فئات بحسب اعمارهم . وقد استهل الأطفال الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 6 إلى 8 سنوات السباق برفقة والديهم لمسافة 2 كم ، أعقبهم الأطفال في الفئة العمرية من 9 إلى 11 عاماً لمسافة 2 كم ، ثم الفئة الأخيرة من الأطفال الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 12 إلى 14 عاماً في سباق 4 كم .

وتعليقاً على فعاليات الماراثون قال المغامر عمر سمره: " نحن سعداء بهذا الاقبال الرائع من قبل الاطفال وعائلاتهم ، حيث استوفينا عدد المشاركين في وقت قصير. كما لاحظنا اهتمام الاطفال بالتبرع بالعديد من الالعاب لصالح اطفال اللاجئين السوريين المقيمين في مصر - من خلال تعاوننا مع منظمة فرد التي تهتم بشؤون اللاجئين و مؤسسة مروة فايد الخيرية Toy’s Run ".

وقد تم تتويج 18 فائزاً في نهاية الماراثون ، بينما حصل جميع الأطفال المشاركين على شهادات وميداليات تكريماً لهم لاشتراكهم في الماراثون. كما استمرت فعاليات اليوم من خلال العديد من الأنشطة الرياضية والترفيهية والتي تضمنت تمارين اليوغا ، والأعمال اليدوية الفنية للأطفال.

يعتبر كيداثون The Great Cairo Kidathon هو أكبر ماراثون للأطفال في القاهرة ، وكانت اولى فعالياته قد انطلقت بنجاح العام الماضي فى مايو 2016. يهدف ماراثون الاطفال " كيداثون " The Great Cairo Kidathon الى زيادة الوعى بأهمية الرياضة و تعزيز وتنمية القيم التنافسية الإيجابية لدى الأطفال .

جارتنر: نمو الإيرادات العالمية لأشباه الموصلات بنسبة 2.7 بالمائة خلال العام 2017

قيمة تداولات سوق بطاقات الذاكرة تصل إلى 1.14 مليار دولار خلال العام 2017

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 2 فبراير 2017: تشير آخر التوقعات الصادرة عن مؤسسة الدراسات والأبحاث العالمية جارتنر إلى أن إجمالي الإيرادات العالمية لأشباه الموصلات سيبلغ 1.364 مليار دولار خلال العام 2017، أي بزيادة قدرها 7.2 بالمائة عما حققه خلال العام 2016. وهو ما يشكل تحولاً شاملاً على مستوى صناعة أشباه الموصلات، حيث حقق هذا السوق نمواً بنسبة 5.1 بالمائة خلال العام 2016.

في هذا السياق قال غانش رامامورثي، نائب رئيس الأبحاث لدى مؤسسة الدراسات والأبحاث العالمية جارتنر: "المرحلة الأسوأ أصبحت وراءنا الآن، وتنتظرنا توقعات إيجابية وصاعدة للعام 2017، مدفوعةً بعمليات تجديد المخزون وارتفاع متوسط أسعار البيع في بعض الأسواق، وخاصة بالنسبة لبطاقات الذاكرة والمنتجات القياسية المخصصة لتطبيقات محددة. وستواصل مرحلة التحول هذه، التي بدأت مع نهاية الربع الثاني من العام 2016، اكتساب المزيد من الزخم، كما أن توقعاتنا تشير إلى تحسن الظروف الازدهار والنمو خلال العام 2017".

وقد رفعت توقعات مؤسسة جارتنر لقيمة تداولات سوق بطاقات الذاكرة إلى 1.14 مليار دولار خلال العام 2017، وفقاً لنتائج آخر التقارير الصادرة عن المؤسسة، ويشار إلى أن قيمة تداولات سوق بطاقات الذاكرة حلياً بلغت حوالي 10 مليارات دولار. وتطرق السيد غانش رامامورثي إلى هذه النقطة قائلاً: "بدأت آثار الانتعاش الإيجابي تحيط بعمليات العرض والطلب في سوق بطاقات الذاكرة، وذلك بالنسبة لشركات توريد بطاقات الذاكرة الذين يعملون على رفع متوسط أسعار البيع من أجل استعادة هوامش الربح. كما أن ارتفاع متوسط أسعار البيع بالنسبة للمنتجات القياسية المخصصة لتطبيقات محددة، والرقائق المنفصلة والتناظرية، والمحتوى الأعلى لأشباه الموصلات في التطبيقات الرئيسية، بما فيها إنترنت الأشياء IoT، شكلت عوامل رئيسية أخرى لزيادة الإيرادات".

بشكل عام، فإن معدل النمو المتباين الذي شهده العام 2016 سيتحول إلى معدل نمو واسع وأكثر اتساقاً خلال العام 2017، حيث سيغطي العديد من القطاعات خلال العام 2017، ومنها الصناعية، والسيارات، وأسواق التخزين، التي تنمو بسرعة لكنها تمثل جزءاً صغيراً من عمليات السوق ككل. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تسلط توقعات النمو المتباطئة للتطبيقات التقليدية، مثل الهواتف الذكية والكمبيوترات الشخصية، الضوء على مدى أهمية أسواق أشباه الموصلات التي تنعكس على باقي القطاعات، ولا سيما تقنيات إنترنت الأشياء.

واختتم السيد غانش رامامورثي حديثه قائلاً: "هذا يشير إلى أنه يتوجب على مدراء منتجات أشباه الموصلات الذين يعتمدون على هذه الفئات مواصلة البحث عن فرص مشابهة على مستوى التطبيقات الجديدة الصاعدة ضمن قطاع تقنيات إنترنت الأشياء IoT، وفي القطاعات الأخرى مثل الصناعة، وأسواق التخزين، والسيارات".

AUB Stanford Women in Data Science Conference to encourage female participation in data science across the region

Dubai, (2 February 2017) – With a recent McKinsey report stating global demand for data science specialists is expected to reach 1.5 million full-time professionals by 2018, SAS - the leader in analytics software and services - is striving to help enhance the pool of leading female data science professionals working across the Middle East region via a marquee association with the American University of Beirut (AUB) Stanford Women in Data Science Conference (WiDS) 2017 on 3 February.

One of the world’s fastest growing interdisciplinary fields of work, Data Science enables professionals across various industries and sectors to develop innovative, value-adding and sustainable activities.

The objective of the WiDS 2017 conference is to support, educate and inspire female statisticians, biostatisticians and data scientists by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and a discussion on modern, cutting-edge research. The Sustainable City welcomes the Emirates Electric Vehicle Road Trip from its first journey across the Middle East

Home of clean energy celebrates with EV owners and fans, to drive the UAE towards a sustainable and low carbon future

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 2 February 2017: The Sustainable City (TSC) – the first Net Zero Energy city in Dubai and the Middle East’s first operational sustainable community – yesterday welcomed the first Emirates Electric Vehicle Road Trip (EVRT) from its epic journey across the UAE.

The four-day EVRT began at Dubai’s Burj Al Arab on Monday 29th January, and drew to a close on Wednesday 1st February with a Grand Finale at The Sustainable City. EVRT saw a convoy of over 10 electric vehicles cover a total of 7000km of terrain across the Emirates, showcasing the best of electric vehicle (EV) technology and supporting the region’s clean-tech innovations.

Faris Saeed, CEO of Diamond Developers – the real estate company behind TSC – commented: “The Sustainable City is completely aligned with Dubai’s Green Economy Vision and UAE Vision 2021, and we have made great efforts to accelerate electric vehicle adoption and encourage the transition to a sustainable and low carbon future. We have introduced electric cars for residents, which can be recharged at stations throughout the city, provide ease of transport within TSC, and ensure zero carbon emissions.”

The EVRT Grand Finale included a full-day of electric vehicle activities, including workshops, a conference, and a parade where UAE electric vehicle owners joined the main convoy and showcased more innovative cars. A tour of The Sustainable City also offered attendees a glimpse into the world’s leading sustainable development.

Saeed added, “We were delighted to welcome electric vehicle enthusiasts to TSC, and show them the incredible potential of sustainable living. Every aspect of the development is focused on benefiting our residents economically; the eco-friendly villas’ orientation and solar power roofs will help reduce energy consumption and electricity bills by 50%.”

Spread over five million square feet, The Sustainable City has been designed to focus on the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic and social. Phase One of the project comprises a residential complex of five clusters, with each cluster containing 100 villas, five playgrounds, a central wind tower, and a parking lot that is shaded from the sun. The site is also home to a community mall, a central green with 11 biodomes, cycling and jogging tracks, an equestrian centre, and a green community Mosque.

المدينة المستدامة تستقبل الجولة الإماراتية للسيارات الكهربائية في ختام رحلتها الاولى على مستوى المنطقة

مدينة الطاقة النظيفة تحتفل مع مالكي السيارات الكهربائية، لقيادة الإمارات نحو مستقبل مستدام ومنخفض الكربون

[دبي - الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 2 فبراير 2017] – استقبلت المدينة المستدامة، التي تُعدّ أول مجتمع مستدام متكامل على مستوى المنطقة، وأول مشروع سكني ينتج الطاقة النظيفة في دبي، يوم أمس الجولة الإماراتية للسيارات الكهربائية في ختام رحلتها عبر أرجاء دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

وبدأت الرحلة التي استمرت لمدة أربعة أيام في فندق برج العرب بدبي يوم الاثنين 29 يناير، وانتهت يوم الاربعاء 1 فبراير، لتتخذ من المدينة المستدامة محطة نهائية لها. واشتملت قافلة الحملة على أكثر من عشر سيارات كهربائية، وقطعت مسافة مجموعها 7000 كيلومتر في جميع أنحاء الإمارات، وعرضت أفضل تقنيات المركبات الكهربائية، بهدف دعم الابتكارات التكنولوجية النظيفة في المنطقة. وبصفتها الراعي الذهبي لهذا الحدث، استقبلت المدينة المستدامة أسطول السيارات في خط النهاية.

وقال فارس سعيد، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "دايموند ديفلوبرز" المطور لمشروع المدينة المستدامة: "تتناغم المدينة المستدامة بالكامل مع رؤية دبي للاقتصاد الأخضر و "رؤية الإمارات 2021". لقد بذلنا جهودًا كبيرة لتسريع اعتماد السيارات الكهربائية، وتشجيع التحول إلى مستقبل مستدام ومنخفض الكربون. وأدخلنا السيارات الكهربائية لاستخدامها من قبل المقيمين في المشروع، حيث يمكنهم إعادة شحنها في المحطات المنتشرة في أنحاء المدينة ، بما يضمن التخلص من الانبعاثات الكربونية".

وتضمن الحفل الختامي للجولة يومًا كاملاً من الأنشطة للسيارات الكهربائية، بما في ذلك ورش العمل، ومسيرة شارك بها مالكو السيارات الكهربائية في الإمارات لينضموا إلى القافلة الرئيسية، لعرض السيارات الأكثر ابتكارًا. وخلال الجولة في المدينة المستدامة، حصل الحضور على لمحة عن هذا المشروع الرائد عالميًا في مجال الاستدامة.

وأضاف سعيد، "يسعدنا الترحيب بعشاق السيارات الكهربائية إلى مدينتنا، وإظهار خصائص المعيشة المستدامة. إن كل جانب في المشروع يركز على ضمان الفوائد الاقتصادية التي تعود على السكان، ومنها التصميم الصديق للبيئة في الفلل، واستخدام ألواح الطاقة الشمسية على الأسطح للمساعدة في خفض فواتير استهلاك الطاقة، والكهرباء بنسبة 50٪".

وتغطي المدينة خمسة ملايين قدم مربع، كما تقوم على الركائز الثلاثة للاستدامة، وهي: البيئية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية. وتضم المرحلة الأولى من المشروع مجمعًا سكنيًا مكونًا من خمس مجموعات تحتوي كل واحدة على 100 فيلا وخمسة ملاعب وبرج رياح مركزي، ومواقف مظللة للسيارات. ويوجد في هذا الموقع أيضًا مسجد تم تشييده بالمعايير البيئية الخضراء، ومركز للتسوق، ومركز لرياضة الفروسية، ومنطقة مركزية خضراء مكونة من 11 قبة بيولوجية، ومسارات لركوب الدراجات والجري.
