AUC SIGNS A COOPERATION PROTOCOL WITH THE NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR WOMEN



February 9, 2017, Cairo – Hussein Amin, director of the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism at The American University in Cairo (AUC), signed a cooperation protocol with Maya Morsi, president of The National Council for Women (NCW), to initiate cooperation between the two institutions with regard to women's development.  
Morsi expressed her happiness having signed the protocol, “the protocol is intended to organize various activities for the development of Egyptian women's capabilities and skills, including the preparation of media and political professional development programs for women in various fields.” In addition to that, the two sides have agreed on producing joint Public Service Announcements (PSA) aimed to raise awareness of women's issues and their main role in society. The PSAs will be aired in all media channels during 2017, the year of Egyptian women. 
Amin praised the efforts of NCW to improve the conditions of Egyptian women, pointing to the importance of the year 2017 being the year of Egyptian women and stressing that all institutions should work together and cooperate for the empowerment of women in all fields and show women’s positive role more clearly in the media.
"It is an excellent opportunity for a fruitful cooperation between two recognized national and global entities. Through this protocol, we will work together to build a solid relationship for the benefit of women in Egypt,” he said.

AUC and NCW agreed on strengthening cooperation in the areas of capacity building and developing Egyptian women's capabilities and skills, including introduction of media and political professional development programs to women in various fields through specialized training during this year.
The mission of the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism is to be a catalyst in advancing the quality of journalism, by preparing graduate students for broadcast careers, with trainings in a professional development program, and by being engaged in the conversation on media through the Arab Media & Society journal. The center aims to advance the fields of television and digital journalism by offering first class post-graduate education and tailored practical training.
