دبي، 19 مايو (أيار) 2023: أصبح بإمكان ركاب طيران الإمارات في جميع الدرجات الاستمتاع باتصال مجاني بمجرد انضمامهم إلى عضوية سكاي واردز طيران الإمارات، وذلك بفضل التحسينات التي أدخلتها الناقلة على النظام، ما نجم عنه ربط 30 ألف راكب إضافي في الدرجة السياحية على متن الطائرة بشبكة الإنترنت اللاسلكي Wi-Fi مجاناً كل أسبوع.

وتُعدّ طيران الإمارات رائدةً في تطوير شبكة Wi-Fi على متن الطائرة، وقد استثمرت حتى اليوم أكثر من 300 مليون دولار أميركي في خدمات الاتصال في الأجواء.

وقال باتريك برانيللي، نائب رئيس أول للتجزئة والترفيه الجوي والاتصال في طيران الإمارات: "نواصل العمل مع مزودي الخدمة لتحسين تجربة الاتصال وتحسينها. فقد قدمنا في مارس (آذار)، بيانات أكثر بنسبة 55% لكل استخدام مقارنة بأوائل عام 2022 على الرغم من زيادة عدد مرات الاستخدام من قبل الركاب بنسبة 68% في الفترة ذاتها. سنواصل الاستثمار في الترقيات والتحسينات، وسوف نبدأ استلام طائراتنا الجديدة A350 في العام المقبل مجهزة بالجيل التالي من أنظمة الاتصال عبر الأقمار الصناعية".

وكانت طيران الإمارات قد أعلنت عن عزمها توفير النطاق العريض الجديد عالي السرعة على 50 طائرة إيرباص A350 من المقرر أن تدخل الخدمة ضمن أسطولها اعتباراً من عام 2024. وسوف يحسّن النظام الجديد، المدعوم من "جي إكس أفييشن GX Aviation" التابعة لشركة "إنمارسات Inmarsat"، تجربة الركاب بشكل كبير مع اتصال محسّن وتغطية عالمية أكبر، حتى على الرحلات الجوية فوق القطب الشمالي. وسوف تصبح طائرة الإمارات الإيرباص A350 الأولى ضمن أسطول الناقلة التي تستفيد من شبكة الأقمار الاصطناعية "غلوبال إكسبرس Global Xpress " التابعة لشركة إنمارسات، والتي تشغل شبكة النطاق العريض الأولى والوحيدة المتوفرة عالمياً، ما يضمن للركاب الاستمتاع باتصال عالمي غير منقطع، بغض النظر عن وجهاتهم. كما ستتيح إمكانات النطاق العريض المتقدمة عالية السرعة لمسافري طيران الإمارات البقاء على اتصال مع العائلة والأصدقاء والعمل وتصفح الإنترنت والاستمتاع بوسائل التواصل الاجتماعي وهم مسترخون في مقاعدهم المريحة.
