Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 16 September 2022: In recognition of its advanced and solid healthcare infrastructure, commitment and leadership, Abu Dhabi was once again recognised as the world’s top pandemic-resilient city globally by Deep Knowledge Analytics (DKA), a London-based DeepTech analytical subsidiary of Deep Knowledge Group (DKG). The recognition reflects the emirate’s comprehensive, efficient and timely COVID-19 pandemic response that reinforced Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector as a leading model regionally and internationally.
In a similar report published by DKA in the first half of 2021, Abu Dhabi was also ranked as the leading city in response to COVID-19 globally. Since then, an additional 28 cities have been examined and added to the ranking, which now assesses a total of 100 cities.
The Pandemic-Resilient Cities Ranking evaluates the continued progress of key cities and presents additional policy recommendations to rectify major shortcomings. The report is based on six parameters that city governments have been focusing on to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and demonstrate resilience and readiness for similar public health issues in the future. These parameters are government efficiency, economic resilience, healthcare management, quarantine measures, vaccination strategy and cultural compliance.
As a result of its robust and successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Abu Dhabi was able to ensure business continuity without any closures, which enabled the emirate to preserve the health and safety of the wider community, ensure business continuity and enable all sectors to advance the emirate’s economic development.
The emirate achieved a COVID-19 testing capacity of over 500,000 tests per day and established 27 drive-through testing and vaccination centres across the emirate with nearly 100% of the community receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. Additionally, Abu Dhabi succeeded in increasing the healthcare capacity by 200% pertaining to the number of patient beds at hospitals as well as the increasing number of intensive care beds by 300%. All of this supported by an agile, data driven, science based and world leading policies and intervention that resulted in one of the lowest mortality rate and infection per capita rate globally.
The efforts come in line with Abu Dhabi’s efforts to leverage life science, innovation, digitalisation and medical tourism to position itself as a leading destination for healthcare. The emirate continues to provide the latest innovative treatments to preserve the health and safety of the community. DoH signed strategic agreements with major international pharmaceutical companies to provide the latest treatments to patients with mild, moderate and critical symptoms and immunocompromised patients who cannot receive vaccinations; and to provide preventive treatments to protect all members of the community from the COVID-19 virus.
Furthermore, Abu Dhabi also received the first global shipment of AstraZeneca’s Evusheld, which generates antibodies for immunocompromised patients. Additionally, Abu Dhabi and Roche, the world’s largest biotech company, announced a strategic partnership to adopt the latter’s casirivimab and imdevimab for the prevention and treatment of mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19 patients.
Globally, Abu Dhabi plays a leading role in the global efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, through its participation in clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutic innovations, and through its contributions to accelerating the pace of vaccine and medicine development and distribution to the world. Abu Dhabi was able to successfully leverage its prime geographical location and advanced healthcare infrastructure to establish the unique pharma corridor, HOPE Consortium. The Abu Dhabi-led public private partnership helped lead the global effort against the COVID-19 pandemic through delivering over 260 million vaccine doses to over 60 nations around the world. The Emirate’s testing capabilities for COVID-19 are also being used to assist several countries in their epidemiological investigation efforts.

أبوظبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 16 سبتمبر 2022: تقديراً للنموذج المتميز والقيادي الذي قدمته في التعامل مع الجائحة استناداً إلى بنيتها التحتية المتطورة ومنظومتها الرائدة للرعاية الصحية، تصدرت أبوظبي مجدداً مدن العالم في الاستجابة لجائحة كوفيد-19 وفق تصنيف"تحليلات المعرفة المتعمقة"، الجهة التابعة لـ "مجموعة المعرفة المتعمقة" العالمية المرموقة التي تتخذ من لندن مقرا لها. ويعكس هذا الإنجاز النجاح الذي حققته الإجراءات والتدابير التي اتخذتها الإمارة والتي أسهمت في شمولية وفعالية وسرعة استجابتها للجائحة مرسخة مكانتها من بين النظم الصحية الرائدة والمتميزة على مستوى المنطقة والعالم.
وكانت أبوظبي قد جاءت في صدارة المدن العالم القيادية في الاستجابة للجائحة ضمن تقرير مماثل نشرته المجموعة في النصف الأول من 2021. ومنذ ذلك الحين، تمت إضافة 28 مدينة وتقييمها ضمن قائمة التصنيف التي أصبحت تضم 100 مدينة من مختلف أنحاء العالم.
وركز التصنيف على تقييم الجهود المستمرة التي تبذلها المدن للتعامل مع الجائحة واستعراض حزمة من التوصيات للتحديات التي واجهتها بناء على 6 محاور رئيسية تقيس قدرتها على الحد من انتشار فيروس كوفيد-19 وجاهزيتها في التعامل مع أزمات مماثلة في الصحة العامة في المستقبل وهي: الكفاءة الحكومية، ومرونة الاقتصاد، وإدارة الرعاية الصحية وكفاءة منظومة الحجر الصحي، ومنظومة التطعيم والالتزام الثقافي.
وبفضل ما تميزت به استجابتها للجائحة من حيث كفاءتها ومرونتها وقدرتها على مواكبة المتغيرات المتسارعة، استطاعت أبوظبي أن تواصل في الحفاظ على صحة وسلامة المجتمع واستمرار أنشطتها وضمان استدامة الأعمال في جميع القطاعات وتمكينها من المساهمة في دفع عجلة النمو الاقتصادي للإمارة دون اللجوء إلى أي إغلاقات شاملة.
وتمكنت أبوظبي من رفع قدرتها الاستيعابية لفحوصات "كورونا" إلى أكثر من 500 ألف فحص يومياً، ووفرت 27 مركزاً للفحص والتطعيم من المركبة على مستوى الإمارة، مع حوالي حصول أفراد المجتمع على التطعيم ضد كوفيد-19 بنسبة 100%. كما تم رفع الطاقة الاستيعابية للقطاع بنسبة 200% لعدد الأسرة في المستشفيات، ورفع عدد الأسرة في أقسام العناية المركزة إلى 300%، وذلك استجابة لسياسات وتدخلات مبنية على البيانات ومستفيدة من التكنولوجيا والعلوم وتقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي الأمر الذي نتج عنه تحقيق أحد أدنى معدلات الإصابة والوفيات على مستوى العالم.
وتواصل أبوظبي تعزيز مكانتها وجهة عالمية رائدة في علوم الحياة والتكنولوجيا الصحية والسياحة العلاجية من خلال توفير أحدث العلاجات المبتكرة للحفاظ على صحة وسلامة كافة فئات المجتمع، ومن خلال مجموعة من الاتفاقيات الاستراتيجية مع كبرى الشركات الدوائية العالمية لتوفير أحدث العلاجات والعقاقير لعلاج المصابين من ذوي الأعراض البسيطة والمتوسطة والحرجة وذوي المناعة الضعيفة والذين لا يمكنهم أخذ اللقاحات، فضلاً عن توفير العلاجات الوقائية لحماية كافة أفراد المجتمع من فيروس كوفيد -19.
وكانت أبوظبي أول مدينة في العالم تتسلم شحنة عقار "إيفوشيلد" الذي طورته أسترازينيكا ويعمل على توليد الأجسام المضادة طويلة المفعول، لعلاج المرضى الذين لا يُظهرون استجابة مناعية كافية لمقاومة الفيروس. وضمن شراكة استراتيجية، توحدت جهود الإمارة مع شركة روش العالمية لتوفير عقار (كازيريفيماب وإمديفيماب)، الذي يعمل على الوقاية من فيروس كورونا وعلاج المصابين ذوي الحالات الخفيفة والمتوسطة.
وكانت أبوظبي من أوائل المدن التي شاركت في التجارب السريرية للقاحات كوفيد-19 وتبني أحدث الحلول المبتكرة للوقاية وعلاج الفيروس، والتي ساهمت في تسريع وتيرة تطوير اللقاحات والأدوية وتوزيعها في جميع أنحاء العالم، حيث استفادت من موقعها الاستراتيجي والبنية التحتية المتميزة لتطلق وبالتعاون مع الشركاء "ائتلاف الأمل"، الذي ساهم خلال عام واحد من انطلاقه في توزيع أكثر من 260 مليون جرعة لقاح إلى أكثر من 60 دولة حول العالم، كما خصصت الإمارة مختبرات حديثة لإجراء التحليلات المخبرية للعينات التي يتم استقبالها وجمعها من خارج دولة الإمارات. وتُعد "تحليلات المعرفة المتعمقة" التابعة لـ"مجموعة المعرفة المتعمقة" مؤسسة رائدة في مجال توفير التحليلات المتقدمة للتكنولوجيا العميقة والصناعات التكنولوجية الرائدة. وتستخدم المؤسسة أطراً متعددة الأبعاد ومتطورة وأساليب حسابية تضم المئات من المقاييس والمعايير المصممة خصيصاً لتقديم معلومات حول السوق وتوقعات عملية وقياس أداء ملموس لمختلف الصناعات. وقد تم اعتماد تقارير المؤسسة واستخدامها لدى وسائل الإعلام العالمية والجهات الحكومية على مستوى العالم.
