Children of the Russian camp: we are extremely happy with the experience and we hope to see our colleagues in Egypt soon

A delegation of seven Egyptian children participated in the activities of the Russian winter camp in the Russian city of Lisnoy organized by the Rosatom School with the participation of five countries - Russia, Egypt, India, Turkey and Zambia – countries which cooperate with Russia in the field of nuclear energy.

This session was held under the title "Russian Winter", where the camp’s organizing committee has presented several cultural, artistic and sports activities to familiarize the children of these countries with the Russian customs and traditions and winter rituals in Russia, as well as the Russian cuisine.

The impressions of the children participating in the camp were very positive. They talked about their experiences, why they participated from the start, how much they came to appreciate the camp and the Russian experience in general.

"I wanted to get to know new friends from different cultures and nationalities," says Karim Alaa, a 13-year-old, one of the participants in the Russian camp. "This camp was a great opportunity for me to achieve this goal. I expected the weather to be extremely cold but I was surprised that it was not as cold as I expected. "

"I am very happy to have met other children from Russia, Zambia, Turkey and India, and to learn about Russian customs and culture, especially those related to recycling and the ability to reuse things more than once," he added.

Rami Ekrami, 12 years, said he was happy to participate in the Russian camp, "I went to Russia before, but I was not lucky to see the snow there. Seeing the snow for the first time was “the coolest thing ever”. I learned a great deal of the Russian winter rituals and how to make a delicious Russian pie called "belini". I also participated in engineering activities, and I learned how to make a Christmas tree. "

The children have also participated in an evening to promote Egypt, its culture, history and civilization. They invited their colleagues in the camp to visit the Egyptian resorts, which are very popular in Russia, especially Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, and then read texts in English, Russian and Arabic about the history of Egypt and the most important archaeological monuments. They performed theatrical plays inspired by the Egyptian folklore.

On their return to Egypt, the Egyptian children participating in the Russian camp remained in close contact with their colleagues thanks to mobile applications and social networks, hoping that the experiment would be repeated again in the near future.
