WHAT
Romanian – French playwright Eugene Ionesco’s classic comedy, “The Future is in Eggs,” performed and produced by AUC Theatre, featuring an all student cast.
Written by Ionesco in 1957, the play focuses on the pressures of its two young lovers, Jacques and Roberta, to produce eggs, under the constant pressure of their interfering families. Typical of Ionesco’s many theatrical journeys into absurdity, the play ridicules the banality of postwar human existence in a manner that allows its audience to laugh their way through a variety of possible interpretations.
The play is directed by graduating senior Adham Kassem; designed by senior student Ameena Houta; lighting design by Samy Sokkar and costume design by Yara Mahmoud.
