BP Egypt announced today another important gas discovery in the Baltim South Development Lease in the East Nile Delta. The Baltim SW-1 exploration well, drilled in water depth of 25 metres by operator IEOC (Eni), reached a total depth of 3750 metres depth and penetrated approximately 62 metres of net gas pay in high quality Messinian sandstones. The discovery, which is located 12 kilometers from shoreline, is a new accumulation along the same trend of the Nooros field discovered in July 2015 and currently producing 65,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Further appraisal activities will be required to underpin the full resource potential of the discovery.
Hesham Mekawi, Regional President of BP North Africa, commented: “We are pleased with the results of the Baltim SW-1 well as it is the third discovery along the Nooros trend and confirms the great potential of the Messinian play and its significant upside in the area. Our plan is to utilise existing infrastructure which will accelerate the development of the discovery, and expedite early production start-up. This announcement is another example of BP’s commitment to unlock resources in order to bring critical gas production to Egypt.”
BP holds a 50% stake in the Baltim South Development lease, and Eni, through its subsidiary IEOC, holds 50%. The well was drilled by Petrobel, a joint venture between IEOC and the state partner Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).
كشف غاز طبيعى جديد لشركة بى بى فى شرق المتوسط بمصر

أعلنت شركة بى بى مصر اليوم عن كشف مهم جديد للغاز الطبيعى فى منطقة تنمية جنوب بلطيم شرق دلتا النيل. و قد تم حفر البئر "بلطيم أس. دبليو-1 " فى مياة بلغ عمقها 25 مترا ووصل عمق الحفر الإجمالى إلى 3750 مترا حيث تم إختراق طبقه صخور رمليه عاليه الجوده حامله للغاز سمكها 62 متر في عصر الميسينيان.
ويعتبر الكشف، الذى يبعد عن الشاطئ مسافة 12 كيلومترا، تجمع جديد على نفس نمط حقل نورس الذى تم إكتشافه فى شهر يوليو 2015 وينتج حاليا 65 ألف برميل معادل من البترول فى اليوم. و سوف يتطلب الكشف المزيد من أعمال التقييم لتحديد احتياطياته الاجماليه.
وأعرب هشام مكاوى الرئيس الإقليمى لبى بى فى شمال إفريقيا عن سعادته بالنتائج التى حققتها البئر بلطيم إس. دبليو-1 حيث أنه يعتبر الكشف الثالث الذى يتحقق على نمط حقل نورس وتؤكد الإحتمالات لتكوين الميسنيان وما يحتويه من موارد غازية مهمة فى المنطقة. وأضاف مكاوى قائلا:" إن خطتنا تقوم على الإستفادة من البنية التحتية القائمة والتى من شأنها تسريع تنمية الكشف وتعجيل بدء الإنتاج المبكر منه. والإعلان عن هذا الكشف الجديد هو مثال آخر على إلتزام بى بى بالبحث عن موارد جديدة لتوفير إنتاج الغاز المهم لمصر".
الجدير بالذكر أن بى بى تمتلك حصة بنسبة 50% فى عقد تنمية جنوب بلطيم بينما تمتلك شركة إينى, من خلال شركتها التابعة أيوك, ال 50% الأخرى. وقامت بحفر البئر شركة بتروبيل ، وهى شركة مشتركة بين أيوك و الهيئة المصرية العامة للبترول.
