Ooredoo and Huawei to Open New Innovation Lab in Qatar



 

World-class Facility at Ooredoo Qatar’s QDC 5 will Create, Test and Showcase New Solutions for Ooredoo

 

Doha, Qatar

 

Ooredoo and Huawei today announced signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to open a next-generation Innovations Lab in Qatar, at a special ceremony at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

 

The agreement was signed by Waleed Al Sayed, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, and Eric Xu, Rotating CEO of Huawei, and witnessed by a number of senior Ooredoo and Huawei executives.

 

The new agreement is the latest in a series of major agreements and initiatives supported by Ooredoo to bring cutting-edge technology to Qatar, and to boost research and innovation within the country.

 

Waleed Al Sayed, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Qatar said: “This is an important step forward for Ooredoo, for Qatar, and for our future young technology leaders, creating a research hub within our country that will explore the cutting-edge of network technology. We thank Huawei for their partnership on this project, and look forward to working with them to share knowledge and break new ground in network research.”

 

Based at Ooredoo’s state-of-the-art Qatar Data Centre 5, the facility will develop, test and demonstrate a range of next generation IT and communication solutions, including

Mobile Broadband, 5G, digital transformation, Internet of Things solutions, 4K video enhancements, and more.

 
Eric Xu, Rotating CEO of Huawei, said
: “Advances in network technology are delivering faster
speeds and a better online experience, but more than that they are helping to transform our digital lifestyles and supporting the growth of the Internet of Things. We are proud that Huawei is making a significant contribution in Qatar through our joint work with Ooredoo.”

 

The MoU outlines the companies’ joint intent to open an advanced facility that will contribute to Qatar’s knowledge-based economy and help train and develop the next generation of technology leaders.  

 

As part of the agreement, Huawei will provide full technical support for Ooredoo’s research in the Innovations Lab, including offering training courses and supporting knowledge transfer between the two companies.

 

Huawei and Ooredoo will collaborate on a joint implementation process for new young talent in Qatar, as well as regularly organising technical and management training to deliver sustainable results.

 

The joint innovation lab will not only be a platform for proof-of-concept projects, but will also demonstrate innovative solutions to relevant partners, enabling them to assess and ultimately new technologies to enhance their business performance.
 
Among the first of its kind in the region, the facility is set to host some of the most advanced communication solutions and cutting-edge experimental technologies.

أعلنت Ooredoo وشركة هواوي اليوم عن توقيع مذكرة تفاهم لافتتاح مختبر للابتكارات من الجيل القادم في قطر، وذلك في حفل خاص أقيم خلال انعقاد المؤتمر العالمي للجوال في برشلونة بإسبانيا.
 
وقع الاتفاقية بالنيابة عن Ooredoo السيد وليد السيد، الرئيس التنفيذي لـ Ooredoo قطر، فيما وقعها بالنيابة عن هواوي السيد إيريك زو رئيسها التنفيذي الحالي، وذلك بحضور عدد مم كبار المسؤولين من الجانبين.
 
وتعتبر هذه الاتفاقية هي الأحدث في سلسلة من الاتفاقيات والمبادرات التي تدعمها Ooredoo بهدف توفير أحدث التقنيات في قطر، وتعزيز الأبحاث والابتكارات فيها.
 
وصرح السيد وليد السيد، الرئيس التنفيذي لـ Ooredoo قطر، قائلاً: "تعد هذه الاتفاقية خطوة أخرى إلى الأمام بالنسبة لـ Ooredoo، ولدولة قطر، ولقادة التقنية من الشباب في المستقبل، فهي ستسهم في بناء مركز للأبحاث في دولتنا لاستكشاف آفاق أحدث تقنيات الشبكات. ونحن بدورنا نشكر هواوي على شراكتها لنا في هذا المشروع، ونتطلع إلى العمل معها لتبادل المعرفة، وابتكار وسائل وطرق جديدة في أبحاث شبكات الاتصالات."
 
وسيكون مقر المختبر الذي تخطط الشركتان لإنشائه في مركز قطر للبيانات 5 (QDC5) التابع لـ Ooredoo، وسيتولى المختبر تطوير واختبار وعرض مجموعة من حلول الاتصالات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات، مثل البرودباند الجوال، وتقنيات الجيل الخامس 5G، والتحول الرقمي، وإنترنت الأشياء (Iot) وتطورات تقنية 4K للفيديو، وغيرها.
 

ومن جانبه، قال السيد إيريك زو، الرئيس التنفيذي الحالي لشركة هواوي: "إن التطورات في تقنيات الشبكات توفر لنا سرعات أعلى وتجربة إنترنت
أفضل، وأكثر من ذلك فإنها تساعدنا على الارتقاء بنمط حياتنا الرقمي ودعم تطوير إنترنت الأشياء. ونحن فخورون بالمساهمة الكبيرة التي توفرها هواوي في قطر من خلال عملنا المشترك مع Ooredoo."
 
وتأتي مذكرة التفاهم لتبرهن النية المشتركة للشركتين لافتتاح مختبر متطور سيساهم في تنمية اقتصاد قطر القائم على المعرفة، وسيساعد في تدريب وتطوير الجيل القادم من قادة التكنولوجيا.
 
وبمقتضى الاتفاقية ستوفر هواوي دعماً فنياً كاملاً للأبحاث التي تجريها Ooredoo في مختبر الابتكار، ويشمل ذلك تنظيم دورات تدريبية ودعم الجهود الهادفة إلى نقل المعرفة بين الشركتين.
 
كما ستتعاون Ooredoo وهواوي بشأن تنفيذ إجراءات مشتركة لدعم المواهب الشابة الجديدة في قطر، وفي تنظيم دورات تدريبية فنية وإدارية بشكل منتظم لتحقيق نتائج دائمة.
 
ولن يقتصر دور مختبر الابتكارات على أن يكون منصة لمشاريع إثبات جدوى الأفكار والمفاهيم، بل سيتعدى ذلك لأن يسهم في عرض الحلول المبتكرة أمام الشركاء ما يمكنهم من تقييم التقنيات الحديثة وفاعليتها في تعزيز أدائهم.
 
ومن المنتظر أن يضم المختبر، الذي يعتبر الأول من نوعه في المنطقة، عدداً من أكثر حلول الاتصالات تطوراً، والتقنيات التجريبية الحديثة.
