Australia
Sephco, is a name synonymous with state-of-the-art generator load banks. Established in 1946,
this Australian company which exports load banks worldwide is now
celebrating its fifteenth year of marine load bank manufacturing.
Sephco released
the world’s first marine series of load banks (the LSMC series), ranging
from 20kW to 75kW and specifically designed for superyachts. The
company’s line of products also includes a large range of portable
generator load banks for general testing and installation with stand-by
generators.
Lou Vella from
Sephco Industries explained to Yachting Pages, “It took three years of
development and testing for the LSMC series to come to fruition. A
carbon composite design load bank compliments the sea-water cooled unit
which is the first of its kind, and nothing but the best materials are
used including machine copper nickel fittings, carbon fibre vessels and
titanium parts.”
Controllability of the marine load bank is the most advanced of its kind and specifically
designed for marine generator applications. The Smartload controller
type LSM800MB monitors and maintains the generators boat load,
supplemented by the load bank to maintain a prescribed load as required.
The correct level of
load on generators ensures peak generator performance, eliminating wet
stacking, cylinder glazing, and generated smoke, extending the life and
maintenance of any generator, not to mention contributing to the
environment.
The Smartload control processor which has 2000 lines of code, not only maintains generator load
but, also monitors several safety interlock devices including, pump
cavitation, insufficient flow, water temperature, element temperature
and vessel pressure. The controller is designed to interface with any
type of generator management system.
The LSMC series load banks are generally supplied as packaged systems, ready for piping and electrical installation, however they can also be supplied as split systems where space is limited.
Sephco is looking forward to working with Yachting Pages and its marketing team this season.
