Real-Time Environment Insights Optimize Visitor Engagement and Sustainability

JEDDAH, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – 19 December 2021 – Kinan, one of the region’s leading housing and shopping mall developers, announced today that three of its leading malls in the Kingdom are transforming customer experiences and environmental sustainability with Enova, the Middle East’s leading energy and facilities management specialist.

The three malls – Al Huwailat Center in Jubail, Al Jamea Plaza in Jeddah, and Dana Mall in Yanbu – now have more environmentally friendly and healthier shopping environments as a result of Enova’s collaboration. In particular, the three malls have adopted friendlier and healthier building materials, more green space, and enhanced management of the space amid the current era of social distancing.

On the back end, Kinan has used a program of condition-based maintenance and remote monitoring of air and water quality to control the environmental footprint of the buildings. Kinan can also ensure there is minimum energy consumption during hours of low or no occupancy.

Kinan’s malls now have more energy-efficient maintenance and planning, and real-time insights on asset management to improve the performance of building management systems. Kinan’s partners now also share the same values and energy efficiency targets.

“By knowing that the renovation has a direct impact on the perception of the mall atmosphere and an indirect one on customer satisfaction and spending, we made sure that the innovative technology solutions will be at the core of Kinan’s transformation strategy in term of customers experience and visitors engagement,” said Abdullah Hajkasem, Director of Facilities Management and Retail Delivery, Kinan. “With Enova, we found a partner who shares our values of integrity, commitment, and creativity with a passion for victory as well as associated mall refurbishing and face-lifting plans, enabling a more diverse retail leasing strategy.”

Kinan’s malls are running computer-aided facility management software, and mobile solutions across community management, IT, and project portfolio management. Kinan is also exploring solutions across retail delivery service such as fit-out management and energy management.

Enova and Kinan signed the three-year partnership in February 2020 to support facilities management innovation across 10 malls in the Kingdom, covering 265,000 square meters and more than one million annual visitors.

“Kinan’s malls show how condition-based maintenance and real-time asset monitoring and performance can align with the government’s environmental sustainability vision,” said Amani Al Moajil, General Manager - KSA, Enova. “Kinan’s malls are optimizing the security and safety of their guests, elevating their shopping experiences, and reducing their environmental footprint.”

80% of Consumers Report Abandoning Retailers After Three Bad Experiences: Salesforce Connected Shoppers Report

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — 19 December 2021 — Findings released in the fourth edition of the Salesforce Connected Shoppers Report reveal a growing gap between heightened expectations of surveyed shoppers and the retail industry’s ability to deliver on them.

Driving the news: Short-term solutions implemented by brands and retailers during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic — like curbside pickup and virtual styling — changed what shoppers expect from their retail experience. Findings from the Connected Shoppers Report reveal that as the line continues to blur between physical and digital touchpoints, shoppers expect brands and retailers to play by their rules, with little patience for subpar experiences.

To meet expectations, retailers and brands have embraced a variety of new channels and options, but they still are adapting to today’s more complex shopping journeys. In order to deliver more connected experiences, surveyed retail executives plan to employ more data scientists to operationalize data and evolve their technology stacks.

Fast facts: Based on the responses of shoppers and retail executives surveyed, the Connected Shoppers Report found that:

The share of transactions across brand websites and apps, retailer websites and apps, and online marketplaces each surged nearly 40% between 2019 and 2021 as shoppers embraced a range of digital channels to make purchases.

Millennials and Gen Z value exclusive access to limited products and experiences nearly two times more than Silents and Baby Boomers when it comes to loyalty programs.

80% of shoppers will abandon a retailer after three bad experiences.

The average retail organization uses an estimated 44 different systems to manage customer experiences, which makes it difficult to deliver unified shopping experiences.

While 66% of customers expect companies to understand their unique needs and expectations, only 32% of retail executive respondents say their organizations have the full ability to turn data into personalized prices, offers, and products in real time across channels and touchpoints.

The Salesforce perspective: “COVID-19 has changed shopper expectations permanently,” said Rob Garf, VP and GM of Retail, Salesforce. “Our research shows a growing need to remove friction across the nine touch points of a typical shopping journey. Brands and retailers will need to increase investments that unify the digital and physical worlds to provide a seamless and personalized experience.”

Explore further: To generate the insights found in the Connected Shopper Report, Salesforce conducted two double-blind surveys of 1,600 global shoppers and more than 1,000 retail executives between July and September 2021.

ANDY MURRAY BEATS RAFA NADAL ON ABU DHABI RETURN TO SET UP SHOT AT THIRD MUBADALA WORLD TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP CROWN

2009 and 2015 MWTC champion will face world No.5 Andrey Rublev in Saturday’s final after Rublev beat Denis Shapovalov in the first semi-final

Friday, 17 December 2021, Abu Dhabi, UAE: Andy Murray continued his march towards a possible third Mubadala World Tennis Championship title with an impressive display to end Rafa Nadal’s MWTC reign, winning their all-action semi-final clash 6-3, 7-5, to set a final showdown with world No.5 Andrey Rublev on Saturday at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City.

Two-time MWTC champion Murray has looked sharp on his return to Abu Dhabi at the 13th MWTC and showed great desire and determination to see off long-time rival Nadal. Murray broke the reigning MWTC champion’s serve in game six and never looked back, taking out the first set 6-3.

Showing great fitness levels Murray continued his aggressive approach in the first game of the second set. Nadal saved a break point and had Murray on the backfoot in game four, but Murray held serve to square the set at 2-2. Nadal produced a huge forehand to save break point in game five and roared back from 0-30 in game nine to hold serve and take a 5-4 lead.

However, in his next service game, the Spanish star put a volley into the net and then went long with a backhand, handing Murray a 6-5 lead and a chance to serve for the match.

And the Scot obliged, holding serve to see out the match and set up an intriguing final clash with Rublev, who had earlier beaten Denis Shapovalov in the first semi-final.

“There were definitely some things I did really well out there. It was very special for me to be back out on the court playing against Rafa and playing in front of a big crowd,” said Murray after an impressive performance.

“I served better today, I was more comfortable and was able to dictate a lot more of the rallies and that will be important for me against Rublev, who is one of the best attacking players.”

“It makes a massive difference to playing in front of the fans. Fans are what makes sport special, and it makes it easier for players. Events such as this are great for the players. It gives us the chance to work on a lot of things and I think players look to play the right way when they come here because it sets you up for a big start of the year.”

Nadal chose to look at the positives in defeat despite not being able to make it to another final in front of his adoring Abu Dhabi fans.

“It’s been a long time since I played, and this was a tough opponent to face in my first match for a while. I did a lot of things well. It was a positive match in a lot of ways. Well done to Andy, I’m happy for him, but I will take the positives and we will continue learning,” said Nadal after his defeat. “This is just the beginning. It feels good to be back playing some good tennis.”
