UAE reaches EMEA top ten Fintech deals list in H1’21, says KPMG’s Pulse of Fintech H1 2021 – EMEA report

MAGNitt’s H1 2021 report for the UAE Startup Ecosystem showed that investment in Fintech in H1’21 grew by 49 percent YoY, while the sector accounted for 23 percent of all transactions closed in Middle East North Africa (MENA) region in the same period.

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة؛ 24 نوفمبر 2021: أعلنت نايوم، الشركة الرائدة في مجال خدمات الدفع العالمية وإصدار البطاقات المصرفية، عن تعاونها مع شركة الفردان للصرافة، الشركة الرائدة عالمياً في الإمارات في مجال تحويل الأموال والصرف الأجنبي، بهدف جمع 100 ألف درهم إماراتي لصالح مؤسسة دبي العطاء الخيرية.

وستعمل الشركتان على جمع التبرعات من خلال تنظيم مباراة كريكت خيرية أُقيمت في أبوظبي في إطار الشراكة الاستراتيجية التي وقعت عليها الشركتان بهدف تعزيز خدمات الدفع لعملاء شركة الفردان للصرافة في الأسواق العالمية الرئيسية. وجمعت المباراة نخبةً من النجوم كان من بينهم أعضاء في منتخب الإمارات للكريكت، ومن أبرزهم أحمد رضا وظهور خان وتشيراغ سوري، الذين شاركوا إلى جانب الضيوف والشركاء المدعوين.

وتعليقاً على هذا الموضوع، قال جيريميا جلودوفيزا، رئيس شؤون العلامة التجارية والاتصالات العالمية في نايوم: "يسرنا أن نشهد التعاون بين الشركتين لتنظيم هذه المباراة من أجل جمع التبرعات بهدف دعم البرامج التعليمية، ويسرنا المواصلة على تعزيز هذه الشراكة من خلال إضافة المزيد من هذه المبادرات المجتمعية".

من جانبه، رحب عبدالله الشحي، رئيس إدارة العمليات المساندة بدبي العطاء، بالتبرعات حيث تسلم شيكاً بعد المباراة من قبل فريدريك كروسبي، مدير الإيرادات في نايوم، ومحمد الفردان، نائب رئيس مجلس إدارة الفردان للصرافة.

ومن جهته، قال السيد محمد الفردان: "يسعدنا أن نجمع هذه التبرعات بالشراكة مع نايوم، للمساهمة في مثل هذه القضية المهمة. وكلنا ثقة بالدور الإيجابي لهذه التبرعات في تعزيز جودة حياة أفراد المجتمع، وضمان توفير تعليم عالي الجودة من خلال برامج دبي للعطاء القيّمة".

وجدير بالذكر أن هذا التعاون يندرج ضمن اتفاقية الشراكة بين نايوم والمجلس الدولي للكريكت.

Looking at 38 capital cities around the world, Essential Livings ‘Taxi Rank’ report found the best and worst cities for tourists to take taxis to see the sights, based on information from Uber. 

 

The study reveals how quickly you can get an Uber to come and collect you from the main tourist attractions in 38 different cities around the world.

 

An incredible five cities, including Vienna, Toronto, Sydney, Abuja and New Delhi, all take only 3 minutes for an Uber to turn up to the major tourist attraction in each of these cities.

 

Rio de Janeiro in Brazil came out bottom of the list, with taxis taking an excruciating waiting time of 43 minutes.

The study also looked into rush hour price increases, and surprisingly saw several capital cities sport a decrease in taxi fares during rush hour. Washington D.C. 's taxi rides were found to be 48% cheaper whilst Aukland, New Zealand saw a 392% price surge during rush hour.

Professional Diploma in Maritime Security study programme begins at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Sharjah Branch

Sharjah, UAE, 24 November 2021: The study programme for the Professional Diploma in Maritime Security from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Sharjah branch (AASTS) has started this week. Twenty Dubai Police personnel are taking part in the programme, which in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Dubai Police and AASTS to promote cooperation in education, training and specialised studies in maritime security, as well as training personnel and exchanging expertise.

H.E. Major General Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Fahd, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Academic and Training Affairs at Dubai Police, said, “Global competitiveness reports confirm that Dubai is one of the safest cities worldwide. This includes the maritime sector. Dubai is a world-leading leisure and maritime tourism destination. Its ports receive the largest cargo ships, cruise ships and yachts from all over the world. This poses many challenges for us to prepare our personnel and train them according to the highest international standards to be aware of the latest developments in maritime security and to use the latest technologies and innovative tools, including artificial intelligence. We are pleased to cooperate with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport to offer this leading training programme to obtain a Professional Diploma in Maritime Security from its Regional Maritime Security Institute. The Academy is known for its specialised staff who have graduated many leaders in the maritime sector across the Arab world. The training programme for the police personnel from the Ports Police Station and the departments concerned with maritime security and safety in Dubai Police, will help enhance the maritime security and safety in Dubai and the UAE.”

Highest standards of training and qualification

This is done within a comprehensive system that supports the UAE’s directions and strategic plans.”

An integrated educational path

Dr. Capt. Ahmed Youssef, Associate Dean, College of Maritime Transport and Technology, AASTS explained that the study programme lasts for 14 weeks. It features both virtual classes and practical training in Jebel Ali Port, Port Rashid and the Academy's branch in Khor Fakkan, Sharjah. Over the course of the programme, trainees obtain a total of seven specialised certificates in maritime security. After completing the programme, graduates will obtain a Professional Diploma in Maritime Security accredited by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, one of the specialised organisations of the League of Arab States, and a member of the Association of Arab Universities and the International Association of Universities.

Theoretical study courses cover various topics including ship components, navigational devices, coastal navigation and positioning mechanisms, IMO rules and regulations, international conventions and treaties, maritime laws and maritime arbitration, maritime safety and communications, International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, ship manoeuvres, emergency procedures and dealing with crises, ship and port security, security risk assessment, and other key topics in maritime security and safety.

انطلقت هذا الأسبوع فعاليات البرنامج الدراسي للدبلوم المهني في الأمن البحري، الذي تنظمه القيادة العامة لشرطة دبي بالتعاون مع الأكاديمية العربية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا والنقل البحري بالشارقة، بمشاركة 20 موظفا من شرطة دبي، وذلك في إطار مذكرة التفاهم الموقعة بين شرطة دبي والأكاديمية، لتعزيز التعاون المشترك، وترسيخ العلاقات في مجال التعليم والتدريب والدراسات المُتخصصة في جانب الأمن البحري، وتأهيل الكوادر البشرية وتبادل الخبرات بين الجانبين.

مسار تعليمي متكامل

وأشار الدكتور الربان أحمد يوسف، نائب عميد كلية النقل البحري والتكنولوجيا، أن البرنامج الدراسي سيستمر لمدة 14 أسبوعاً، ويتضمن مزيجاً من الدورات الافتراضية والتدريبات العملية في كل من ميناء جبل علي، وميناء راشد، إضافة إلى مقر الأكاديمية في خورفكان في إمارة الشارقة. وعلى مدى فترة الدراسة، سیحصل المتدربون على مجموع سبع شهادات متخصصة في الأمن البحري، وبعد إتمام البرنامج الدراسي، سیحصل الخريجون على دبلوم مھني في الأمن البحري معتمد من الأكاديمية العربية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا والنقل البحري، إحدى منظمات جامعة الدول العربية المتخصصة، وعضو اتحاد الجامعات العربية. والاتحاد الدولي للجامعات.

وتتضمن مساقات الدراسة النظرية عدة موضوعات تشمل مكونات السفن والأجهزة الملاحیة، والملاحة الساحلية وآليات تحديد المواقع، وقواعد المنظمة البحرية الدولية، والاتفاقيات والمعاهدات الدولية، والقوانين البحرية والتحكيم البحري، والسلامة البحرية والاتصالات البحرية، والقواعد الدولية لمنع التصادم في البحار، ومناورات السفن وإجراءات الطوارئ والتعامل مع الأزمات، وأمن السفن والموانئ، وتقییم المخاطر الأمنية، وغيرها من موضوعات حيوية في مجال الأمن والسلامة البحرية.

وبهذه المناسبة قالت الدكتورة آلاء مرابط: "إذا كان العامان الماضيان قد سلطوا الضوء على أي شيء يخصنا كقطاع، فهو الأهمية الكبيرة للنظم الصحية المستدامة الملائمة للغرض والتفكير المستقبلي. أنا متحمس جداً للمشاركة في قمة مستقبل الصحة، حيث ستتم مناقشة وعرض آخر وأهم التطورات الصحية الضرورية والملموسة والتبعية في عصرنا. إذا أردنا منع الأوبئة المستقبلية من التأثير على حياتنا بأكملها وسبل عيشنا ومجتمعاتنا، فإننا بحاجة ماسة إلى البدء في الاستثمار في الأفكار والحلول التي تسد الفجوة من حيث أين نحن الآن إلى حيث أين يجب أن نكون".

من جهتها قالت سولين سينجر، مديرة مجموعة إنفورما ماركتس: "تعتبر الاستدامة والتكنولوجيا المبتكرة في صميم قطاع الرعاية الصحية في المستقبل، ولهذا قررنا دعوة الخبراء أصحاب الرؤية وأولئك الذين لديهم تأثير على سياسة الحكومة وصناع القرار إلى اجتماع حصري لمناقشة كيفية المضي قدمًا وكيف يجب تطوير نماذج الرعاية الصحية الحالية لتقديم خدمة رعاية صحية مواكبة ومناسبة للأجيال القادمة".

وأردفت سينجر قائلة: "لقد لعبت تقنيات الرعاية الصحية الرقمية مثل: الذكاء الاصطناعي والطباعة ثلاثية الأبعاد والواقع الافتراضي والواقع المعزز وتكنولوجيا النانو والروبوتات دوراً فعالاً في تطوير العمليات في الوقت المناسب للاختبارات واللقاحات والمستحضرات الصيدلانية وجعل النظم الصحية أكثر استجابة وإنتاجية أثناء الجائحة".

واختتمت سينجر حديثها بالقول: "ستزداد أهمية التكنولوجيا في الوقت الذي نمضي فيه قدماً لتبنّي المزيد من التقنيات، ومع ذلك فإن ضمان الاستفادة الكاملة من الفرص التي توفرها التكنولوجيا سيكون نتيجة عمل الشراكة وتبنّي هذه التقنيات من قبل الجميع في صناعة الرعاية الصحية".

سيشهد معرض آراب هيلث، الذي يعود إلى مركز دبي التجاري العالمي حضورياً في الفترة من 24 إلى 27 يناير 2022 تحت شعار " بالأعمال نتحد ودفع الصناعة نحو الأمام»"، احتلال التكنولوجيا مركز الصدارة مع استعراض أحدث التطورات في قطاع الرعاية الصحية من خلال سلسلة من حلقات النقاش والخطب الرئيسية وأحدث المنتجات على أرضية المعرض.

هذا ويعد معرض ومؤتمر ميدلاب الشرق الأوسط الذي سيقام كحدث مشترك مع معرض آراب هيلث، كأكبر معرض ومؤتمر للمختبرات الطبية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، حيث سيركز الحدث أيضًا على المنتجات المبتكرة والتقنيات الشائعة التي تشكل عالم التشخيص وسيستقطب الحدث المهنيين والمتخصصين في المختبرات والرعاية الصحية على مستوى العالم وسيتضمن مجموعة من المحاضرات العلمية وإحاطات الصناعة وعروض المنتجات وفرص التواصل.
