Al Ansari Exchange donates USD 1 million to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance

UAE, 08 January 2019 – Al Ansari Exchange, the UAE-based foreign exchange company has donated USD 1 million to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to support the Alliance mission to create equal and improved access to new and underused vaccines for children living in the world’s poorest countries. Since its inception in 2000, over 700 million people have been immunized and 10 million lives have been saved as a result of the Vaccine Alliance efforts. The move is in line with the UAE Government’s innovative programs and initiatives geared towards contributing to a stronger global health.




Mohamed Ali Al Ansari, Chairman of Al Ansari Exchange, said: “Gavi’s noble mission to vaccinate additional 300 million children in the world’s poorest countries between 2016 and 2020 is unparalleled and worthy of our support. We are one with Gavi in its endeavor to protect the lives of millions of the world’s most vulnerable children by making sure that they have access to life-saving vaccines. As such, we have made a USD 1 million pledge to the organization. Oman Gas Leverages Digital DNA to Increase Reliability Performance by 9% with AssetWise Asset Reliability

8 January 2019 - Oman Gas Company (OGC) is the principal gas transportation company of the Sultanate of Oman established in 2000. OGC operates a 2,500-kilometer high-pressure gas transmission network that runs the length and breadth of the Sultanate with annual gas transmission volumes of around 21.549 billion cubic meters. Other facilities include three compressor stations and 38 gas supply stations. The majority of the Sultanate’s industrial sectors, from power and desalination plants to fertilizer, methanol, petrochemicals, refineries, steel, and cement plants, rely on OGC to deliver the gas for their operations.




OGC adopted an advanced reliability and integrity program that ensures production availability to meet its customer demands and achieve its goal of becoming “a world-class midstream gas value chain company.” The organization has digitized its reliability and maintenance program by implementing Bentley’s AssetWise Asset Reliability solution. To reduce human intervention and avoid human fault analysis, the system leverages the inherent capabilities of AssetWise Asset Reliability to automate several processes including:


Ensuring the reliability, availability, and maintainability of the facilities down to the equipment level


Bad-actor analysis


Alert and email notification of equipment condition


Follow up reminder of RCA recommendation


Approval route for bad actor, RCA, RCM, and RBI


Automatic analysis and notifications for operator routine duties using handheld devices




The software utilizes these inputs to calculate reliability and availability of an individual asset based on an exponential reliability model. The weekly calculations are based on series and parallel configurations, which were previously performed monthly by a dedicated reliability engineer using Excel spreadsheets.




The system introduces digital workflows using handheld devices for routine operator duties to bridge the disconnect between engineers and field operators by mapping trends, monitoring operational parameters, and providing necessary technical support remotely. It also ensures that operational key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved by monitoring the compliance status regularly.




Bentley’s AssetWise Asset Reliability solution triggers an alert and email notification as soon as any value is out of range. With this technology, OGC has calculated a significant increase in reliability performance. This calculation is based on failure reduction against Mean Time to Repair and Cost of Lost Production Opportunity, which greatly impacts revenues and profits.

HONEYWELL UOP AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO ENGINEERING STUDENTS FROM CAIRO UNIVERSITY

CAIRO, Egypt, January 08, 2018 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) awarded scholarships to four chemical engineering students from Cairo University as a part of its ongoing commitment to develop and support young engineering talent in Egypt. Honeywell awarded the students at an event hosted by Cairo University.

“The recognition we have earned through the Honeywell UOP scholarship and internship program is a testament to the education we provide at Cairo University,” said Professor Ehab Abadir, head of Cairo University’s chemical engineering department. “We are very pleased with the Honeywell UOP initiative in the field of engineering with a particular focus on the oil and gas industry, enabling our students to learn about the industry in the Middle East as a whole. We look forward to further enhancing the Honeywell – Cairo University relationship in our future endeavors.”



The annual scholarship program, which commenced in 2016, is part of Honeywell’s investment in nurturing engineering talent in Egypt. This year the scholarship program was offered to Ahmed Yousry Muhammad, Omar Emad Khallaf, Esraa Ashraf Abdel-Alam and Mohamed Ahmed Khodeir, each who were selected after a rigorous interview process led by Honeywell UOP. In addition to the scholarship, the four students will compete for a seven-week internship placement program in the United States at Honeywell’s Research and Development Center near Chicago.



“Honeywell is committed to developing young talent in the engineering field in Egypt, and through our ongoing collaboration with Cairo University, we are able to recognize excellent academic potential,” said Khaled Hashem, president for Honeywell in Egypt and Libya. “With the oil and gas industry advancing rapidly, it is now vital to equip the younger generation with knowledge of the technological disruptions impacting the industry. The students received this scholarship at a ceremony in Cairo University.

القاهرة، مصر، 08 يناير 2018: قدمت هانيويل، الشركة العالمية الرائدة والمدرجة في بورصة نيويورك تحت الرمز (NYSE: HON)، أربع منح دراسية لطلاب قسم الهندسة الكيميائية في جامعة القاهرة في حفلٍ مميّز استضافته جامعة القاهرة، وذلك في إطار الحثيثة لدعم وتطوير المواهب الهندسية الشابة والصاعدة في مصر.

Mall of Arabia Brings the Looney Tunes Show to Town for the First Time in Egypt

Cairo, Egypt: January 8, 2019- For the first time in Egypt, Mall of Arabia, West Cairo’s preferred shopping destination, will host the famous Looney Tunes festive show at the newly launched Mall of Arabia Phase II known as “The Expansion”, from January 3 until January 12.




From the 11th of December 2018 to the 11th of January, customers with a maximum of two receipts totaling 1,500 EGP or more will get two regular show tickets whereas customers with a maximum of two receipts totaling 3,500 EGP or more will get two VIP show tickets to the show.
