UAE- 30 of October 2018: Dubai Maritime City (DMC), the world's first purpose-built maritime centre and a member of the Dubai World Group of companies, has successfully participated in the 9th edition of the Seatrade Maritime Middle East Conference and Expo taking place from the 29th to 31st of October at the Dubai World trade Centre.

Dubai Maritime City’s participation will play a significant role in promoting UAE as a first-class maritime destination and will provide a platform for DMC to showcase the recent and most ambitious initiatives that have played a vital part in establishing Dubai as one of the world’s most competitive maritime hubs. Dubai Maritime City offers a distinctive opportunity for international maritime key players to exhibit at their pavilion that includes MaK ME, Reintjes Middle East, Al Suhail and Drydocks World. ترسيخ مفهوم "تجمع بحري حقيقي"

وتعليقاً على مشاركة مدينة دبي البحرية، صرح أحمد الحمادي، الرئيس التنفيذي للعمليات في مدينة دبي الملاحية، قائلاً: "إن وجودنا في هذه المنصة الفعالة يعزز هدفنا الرامي لتطوير جميع جوانب القطاع البحري في المنطقة مع الحفاظ على الجودة والتميز. نحن فخورون جداً بمشاركتنا في معرض ومؤتمر سيتريد الشرق الأوسط للقطاع البحري 2018، ونقدم دعمنا المستمر لجميع برامجه التي تعمل على تعزيز ثقافة الابتكار والتطور في المجتمع البحري بالمنطقة".

وتابع الحمادي قائلاً: "ويأتي معرض ومؤتمر سيتريد الشرق الأوسط بالتزامن مع تطورات عديدة رئيسة حدثت في القطاع البحري. نحن في مدينة دبي الملاحية نواصل التأكيد على التزامنا باستكشاف وتقديم أحدث الابتكارات والمبادرات البحرية لبناء علاقات وثيقة واستثمارات قيمة من شأنها أن تعمل على بناء بيئة بحرية آمنة ومتكاملة ومستدامة، تخدم نمو الاقتصاد الوطني".

FEWA SIGNS MOU WITH HONEYWELL TO DRIVE GREEN ECONOMY THROUGH ADVANCED ENERGY MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

Energy savings of between 10-30 percent to be achieved through technology-driven sustainability partnership




DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, October 31, 2018 – The Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Honeywell (NYSE: HON), a global leader in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies for buildings, to drive sustainable development and green economy initiatives in the UAE’s Northern Emirates. The collaboration details FEWA’s focus on driving significant energy savings of between 10 and 30 percent across a range of public sector buildings through the adoption of advanced energy efficiency technologies and to improve the standards of living and achieve sustainable growth by 2021.

Under the terms of the agreement which was signed at WETEX 2018, the organizations will determine a Proof of Value, focusing particularly on Honeywell’s next-generation solutions that enable significant energy savings and adhere to sustainable environmental guidelines. These technologies include building management systems, energy management dashboards and energy performance contracting (EPC).

The partnership will support the goals of the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which is considered the first unified energy strategy in the country based on supply and demand. The strategy aims to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix from 25 percent to 50 percent by 2050 and reduce carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent, thus saving AED 700 billion by 2050. It also seeks to increase consumption efficiency of individuals and corporates by 40 percent.

Commenting on the collaboration, Salim Bin Rabee’a, Executive Director of Electricity Directorate at FEWA said: “One of our core objectives is conservation, which is in line with our country’s vision to achieve a sustainable future for the next generation. We are working with leading global technology companies like Honeywell to collectively reduce the UAE’s energy consumption through technology that provides more energy efficient solutions and reduces operational costs.”

Honeywell and FEWA will enter into an energy performance contract based on guaranteed savings focusing on Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), cost reductions, and operational efficiencies based on cloud-based analytics, in addition to ensuring carbon emissions reduction. Facilities of particular focus for the EPC will be schools, mosques, hospitals and FEWA’s offices.

The EPC will be managed through performance dashboards and reports providing visibility of building performance. The initiative also includes the deployment of Honeywell’s cloud analytics platform, Outcome Based Service (OBS), to support increased operational performance, optimal efficiency, increased comfort levels of building occupants, and maximize uptime to positively impact the bottom line.

“With nearly 50 percent of our portfolio linked to cutting-edge energy efficiency and energy management technologies, Honeywell is well positioned to support FEWA in reducing energy consumption. In line with the UAE and FEWA Vision 2021 and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, we remain committed to reducing energy consumption to help achieve a sustainable future,” said Susanna Minoia, chief financial officer, Honeywell Building Solutions, High Growth Regions.

Around 60 to 70 percent of energy demand in the UAE currently stems from building HVAC requirements, with split air-conditioning units making up an estimated 60-70 percent of cooling systems in the market. As part of the collaboration, Honeywell will provide FEWA with insights and data points on energy-efficient low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants that can drive efficiencies in energy usage and cost. The collaboration highlights both organizations’ commitment to supporting the UAE Sustainable Development Plan in line with meeting the sustainability goals of the UAE and FEWA Vision 2021.

ويكتسب البرنامج أهمية استراتيجية كأول برنامج عالمي للصيرفة والتمويل الإسلامي بالتعاون من جامعة أوروبية، مع اختيار "جامعة حمدان بن محمد الذكية" لتكون الشريك الرسمي في تقديم شهادة مشتركة في مجال الصيرفة الإسلامية. ويتبنّى البرنامج منهجية مدمجة تعزز كفاءة ومرونة العملية التدريسية، والتي تجمع بين مزايا الأسلوب التشاركي المتزامن عبر الوسائط الإلكترونية والتعلم الذاتي في كافة المساقات المتخصصة، التي تشمل الإدارة المالية وإدارة التسويق ونظم المعلومات والابتكار والإدارة الاستراتيجية وبيئة الأعمال العالمية، إلى جانب التمويل والصيرفة الإسلامية ومبادى المحاسبة الإسلامية والقضايا القانونية والتنظيمية ذات الصلة بالاقتصاد الإسلامي. ويتمحور البرنامج حول أهداف واضحة تتمثل في تطوير فهم متقدّم حول الصيرفة والتمويل الإسلامي من الناحية النظرية والعملية، مع التعريف بالطبيعة الاستراتيجية للابتكار والتكنولوجيا وتطوير القدرة على توظيفها بالشكل الأمثل في إطار أدوات الإدارة الفعالة، مقدماً ركيزة أساسية لتخريج كفاءات بشرية مؤهلة لقيادة مسيرة تحويل دبي إلى عاصمة عالمية للاقتصاد الإسلامي.

وقال الدكتور منصور العور، رئيس "جامعة حمدان بن محمد الذكية": "يأتي فتح باب التسجيل لـ "ماجستير إدارة الأعمال التنفيذي في الصيرفة والتمويل الإسلامي" في وقت هام يتزايد فيه دور دبي كقوة مؤثرة في مستقبل المنظومة الاقتصادية الإسلامية إقليمياً وعالمياً، في ظل التوجيهات السديدة لسيدي صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي "رعاه الله"، في تطوير ممارسات وأساليب الاقتصاد الإسلامي باعتباره منظومة متكاملة تشمل جميع جوانب الحياة. ونتطلع بثقة حيال البرنامج النوعي الذي يمهد الطريق أمام تقديم مرحلة جديدة من التميز في إثراء المعرفة والتدريب والبحث للارتقاء بإمكانات الشباب، الذين قال عنهم سيدي سمو الشيخ حمدان بن محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، ولي عهد دبي رئيس المجلس التنفيذي المشرف العام على استراتيجية "دبي عاصمة الاقتصاد الإسلامي"، بأنهم "الثروة الأغلى والطاقة الأهم للتطوير"."

وأضاف العور: "تنبثق أهمية "ماجستير إدارة الأعمال التنفيذي في الصيرفة والتمويل الإسلامي" من كونه قصة نجاح تجسد قدراتنا العالية على الوصول ببرامجنا الأكاديمية الوطنية إلى العالمية، واضعين الأسس المتينة لبناء مبتكري المستقبل القادرين التزاماً منا ببناء القدرات البشرية باعتباره نهج قيادتنا الرشيدة في "التركيز على الإنسان كأساس للاستعداد للمستقبل". ويأتي البرنامج النوعي بمثابة نتاج مساعينا الحثيثة لدعم مسيرة تحويل دبي إلى عاصمة عالمية للاقتصاد الإسلامي، من خلال إثراء وتوليد ونقل المعرفة التي تمهد الطريق لبناء جيل قادر على قيادة التمويل الإسلامي نحو آفاق أرحب من النمو والاستدامة والازدهار، ليكون لاعب محوري في دفع عجلة نمو واستدامة وازدهار الاقتصاد العالمي بما يضمن بناء مستقبل أفضل للأجيال الحالية والقادمة." 

واختتم العور: "يشرفنا الإعلان عن الانطلاق الفعلي للبرنامج في فصل ربيع 2019 على هامش "أسبوع الاقتصاد الإسلامي"، الذي يفتح قنوات جديدة للحوار فعّال حول الآفاق المتاحة لإطلاق العنان للقدرات الكامنة للاقتصاد الإسلامي. ونجدّد التزامنا المطلق بمواصلة تطوير محفظة متكاملة من البرامج الأكاديمية والمساقات التدريبية الداعمة لمسار نمو الاقتصاد الإسلامي، استناداً إلى دعائم متينة قوامها تطوير رأس المال البشري والبحث العلمي وخدمة المجتمع."

APICORP Supports Algeria Future Energy

Dammam, Saudi Arabia, 31 October 2018: The Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (APICORP), a multilateral development bank, participated in the Algeria Future Energy summit, which was held on 29th and 30th October. APICORP’s Senior Economist for Energy Research, Mustafa Ansari, moderated a panel discussion, which focused on driving growth and efficiencies across the natural gas value chain.


The panel members were Ahmed Mazighi, VP of Marketing at Sonatrach; Stefano Cao, Chief Executive Officer of Saipem; Adolfo Heeren, Chief Executive Officer of TGP; and Jerome Fitzgerald, Senior Executive at BP.


The panel discussed a range of issues, including forecasting future demand trends for natural gas, both in Algeria and internationally; Sonatrach’s role in the European market, how new technology and infrastructure will increase efficiencies in production; the role of trading as gas transitions into a global commodity and the rise of LNG trade; the role of gas in the future energy mix; geopolitics and its impact on investment in the sector; and the impact of growing demand in Asia.
