STME implements end to end IT solutions in Pharma International’s new factory in Jeddah

Saudi Arabia ranks 46th in Global Cybersecurity Index 2017; classified as “maturing”

Zurich International Life Reveals 75% of Ex Pats Have no Income Protection

 

United Arab Emirates, November 2017 – Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich), in collaboration with the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford, has published a new report, ‘Embracing the income protection gaps challenge: options and solutions’.

An income gap is the reduction in household income as a consequence of the loss or incapacitation of an adult wage earner upon whom the household relies, taking all public and private income replacement in to account.

The global insurer encourages consumers to ask the question, if you lost your ability to work, how long would your savings last?

Regionally 75% of respondents had no provision in place to protect the loss of income through illness, incapacity or premature death. Of those that do, 72% percent received this coverage from their employer. Globally, 6 out of 10 respondents said that their savings would last no more than 6 months and 1 in 5 said that their savings would last less than one month.

Jason Waldron, SME Segment Specialist at Zurich International Life: “The gap only widens as savings are used on ongoing treatment, relocation costs, modifying the family home and having to pay the rent or mortgage. Income protection is vital, as your finances remain ‘abled’, at a time when you are not.”

With more than a quarter of the workforce becoming unable to work at some point during their working lifetime, Zurich outlines practical recommendations to address critical issues and gives insights into how governments, employers, insurers, intermediaries and individuals can work together to close income protection gaps (IPGs).

For expats living in the UAE, there is no state provision to support those that suffer a loss of income due to illness, disability or premature death. Consequently, the financial risk shifts to the individual or their employer.

As a Global Insurer Zurich has a responsibility to increase awareness of income protection gaps

For employers that provide income protection for employees, the benefits can be attractive. The Zurich report showed that 6 out of 10 employees would rather have a good benefit package than just an increase in salary. Therefore employers have a great opportunity to retain and attract talent through the use of income protection schemes. Zurich’s scheme pays up to 80% of income until age 65 if a claimant suffers a disability that prevents them from working. The degree of disability that triggers the payment is flexible, much like taking an individual policy with Zurich, an applicant starts with a blank canvas and builds a tailor-made solution.

Income protection can also tackle the global phenomenon of presenteeism, when sick employees come to work through fear of income loss, underperforming and possibly spreading contagion. The estimated cost for employers in the US alone is estimated at USD 150bn per year.  

For individuals Zurich recommends contextualizing income protection within the wider household spending. For example, households typically maintain a credit card with an annual subscription cost. For the same subscription cost, households could purchase income protection insurance that provides more valuable benefits than that of the credit card.

Waldron continues; “It’s appropriate to frame the consequences of our financial decisions. For instance, before upgrading a TV package consider securing an income for life for the same money.”

Demand for income protection insurance is increasing exponentially as people are living and working longer. Although this is positive, it increases the likelihood that at some point in our career we may become unable to work due to a disability.

Reducing the income protection gap can save families from financial ruin, create advantages for employers and support governments in implementing regulation.

زيوريخ إنترناشيونال لايف توصي بسدّ "فجوة حماية الدخل"

الإمارات العربية المتحدة، نوفمبر 2017: نشرت مجموعة زيوريخ للتأمين (زيوريخ)، بالتعاون مع كلية "سميث للمشاريع والبيئة" في جامعة "أكسفورد" تقريراً جديداً تحت عنوان "تبنّي تحديات فجوات حماية الدخل: الخيارات والحلول".

وفجوة الدخل هي انخفاض دخل الأسر المعيشية نتيجة لفقدان أجر صاحب الدخل أو عجز المعيل الذي يعتمد عليه دخل الأسر المعيشية، مع الأخذ في الاعتبار كل بدائل الدخل الخاص والعام.

وتشجع شركة التأمين العالمية العملاء على طرح السؤال التالي: إذا فقدت قدرتك على العمل، كم من الوقت سوف تستمر مدّخراتك؟

وعلى صعيد منطقة الشرق الأوسط، فإن 75 في المئة من الذين استُطلعت آرائهم لم يكن لديهم حماية لفقدان الدخل خلال المرض أو عدم القدرة على العمل أو الوفاة المبكرة. ومن بين أولئك الذين قاموا بذلك، فإن 72 في المئة منهم حصلوا على هذه التغطية من أصحاب عملهم. وعلى المستوى العالمي، فإن 6 مُستطلعين من أصل 10 شاركوا في الاستبيان، قالوا إن مدّخراتهم لن تستمر لأكثر من 6 أشهر، في حين قال واحد من كل خمسة، إن مدخراته سوف تستمر لأقل من شهر واحد.  

وقال جيسون والدرون، أخصائي قطاع الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة في زيوريخ إنترناشيونال لايف "إن الفجوة لا تتسع إلا مع استخدام المدّخرات في العلاج المستمر وتكلفة الانتقال وتعديل منزل الأسرة ودفع الإيجار أو الرهن العقاري. إن حماية الدخل أمر حيوي، إذ أن مواردك المالية تبقى جارية، في وقت تكون أنت فيه عاجز عن تحقيق ذلك".  

ومع عدم قدرة أكثر من ربع القوى العاملة على العمل في مرحلة ما خلال فترة مدة حياتهم، فإن زيوريخ تعرض توصيات عملية لمعالجة القضايا الحرجة وتطرح أفكاراً عن كيفية عمل الحكومات وأصحاب العمل وشركات التأمين والوسطاء والأفراد معاً، من أجل سدّ الثغرات في حماية الدخل (IPGs).

كون زيوريخ شركة تامين عالمية فان لها مسؤولية بزيادة الوعي حول فجوات حماية الدخل.

وبالنسبة لأصحاب العمل الذين يوفّرون حماية الدخل للموظفين، يمكن أن تكون الفوائد جذّابة. ويُظهر تقرير زيوريخ أن 6 من بين كل 10 موظفين يفضلون الحصول على مجموعة مزايا جيدة أكثر من مجرد علاوة على الراتب. وبالتالي، فإن أصحاب العمل لديهم فرصة كبيرة للاحتفاظ يالأشخاص الموهوبين واستقطابهم من خلال استخدام خطط حماية الدخل. وتدفع خطة زيوريخ ما يصل إلى 80 في المئة من الدخل حتى سن 56 عاماً إذا كان صاحب المطالبة يعاني من إعاقة

تمنعه من العمل. إن درجة الإعاقة التي تستدعي الدفع هي مرنة، وتشبه إلى حد كبير بوليصة التأمين الفردية مع زيوريخ، ويبدأ مقدم الطلب صفحة بيضاء ويضع حلاً بما يتوافق مع احتياجاته.   

كما أن حماية الدخل يمكن أن تتصدى لظاهرة الحضور إلى العمل عندما يكون الموظفون مرضى بدافع الخوف من فقدان الدخل، فينخفض أداؤهم وربما تنتشر العدوى. وتقدر التكلفة التي تقع على عاتق أصحاب العمل في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وحدها بحوالي 150 مليار دولار سنوياً.

أما بالنسبة للأفراد، فإن زيوريخ توصي بوضع سياق لحماية الدخل في إطار الإنفاق السنوي الأسري الأوسع. فعلى سبيل المثال، عادة ما تحتفظ الأسرة ببطاقة ائتمان بتكلفة اشتراك سنوية. وبتكلفة الاشتراك نفسها، بإمكان الأسرة شراء تأمين حماية الدخل الذي يوفر فوائد أكثر قيمة من تلك التي توفرها بطاقة الائتمان.

من جهة أخرى، اعتبر والدرون أنه "من المناسب وضع إطار لقراراتنا المالية. على سبيل المثال، قبل ترقية حزمة تلفزيونية يجب الأخذ في الاعتبار أنه بالإمكان تأمين دخل طويل الأمد بالمبلغ نفسه".

ويزداد الطلب على تأمين حماية الدخل بسرعة كبيرة، كون الناس يعيشون ويعملون لفترة أطول. وعلى الرغم من أن ذلك إيجابي، فإنه يزيد من احتمال أنه في مرحلة ما من حياتنا المهنية، قد نصبح غير قادرين على العمل بسبب الإعاقة.

ويمكن أن يؤدي تقليص فجوة حماية الدخل إلى إنقاذ الأسر من التعثّر المالي، وابتكار مزايا لأصحاب العمل، ودعم الحكومات في تنفيذ اللوائح.

Recent study: Dubai’s total fertility rate in 2016 at 5.2 for nationals and 1.7 for non-national women

Dubai, UAE, 20 November 2017: The latest statistical report released by Dubai Health Authority (DHA) notes the steadily booming population of Dubai, considered the UAE’s largest and most populous emirate.  According to the DHA report entitled ‘Dubai Annual Health Statistical Report 2016,’ in 2016, the total fertility rate (TFR), or the average number of children a woman would have during her reproductive years, in the emirate was 5.2 per woman for nationals - which correlates with the emirate’s goals – and 1.7 for non-national women. A total of 31,887 live births were recorded in Dubai during the same period, making a Crude Birth Rate (CBR) of 12.4 per 1,000 population.

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 29 نوفمبر 2017: تشير أحدث التقارير الإحصائية الصادرة عن هيئة الصحة في دبي إلى إزدهار وزيادة عدد السكان بشكل تدريجي ومستقر في إمارة دبي، التي تعتبر أكثر إمارة في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة من حيث تعداد السكان. ووفقاً لتقرير هيئة الصحة بدبي الذي حمل عنوان "التقرير الإحصائي السنوي للصحة في دبي لعام 2016"، فإن إجمالي معدل الخصوبة في عام 2016، أو متوسط عدد الأطفال التي أنجبتهم إمرأة خلال سنوات الإنجاب، في الإمارة بلغ 5.2 لكل إمرأة مواطنة – وهو ما يرتبط بأهداف الإمارة - و 1.7 للمرأة غير المواطنة. وتم تسجيل مجموعه 31887 ولادة حية في دبي خلال الفترة نفسها، مما يجعل نسبة المواليد 12.4 لكل 1000 من السكان.

وقال مركز IVI Fertility في الشرق الأوسط، إن هناك عوامل أساسية مختلفة يمكن أن تعزز الزيادة السكانية المطردة، من بينها العلاجات الطبية المتقدمة الهادفة إلى معالجة قضايا الخصوبة التي تواجه العديد من الأزواج في دبي حالياً.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 29 November 2017: The luxury SUV has a new benchmark thanks to the introduction of the Range Rover SVAutobiography.

The new model delivers a peerless combination of craftsmanship and technology, epitomising the pinnacle of luxury travel that Range Rover represents and making every journey a treasured experience whether driving or being driven.

Available in long wheelbase, the Range Rover SVAutobiography combines advanced new convenience features, including rear doors that close at the touch of a button, to create a sanctuary for relaxation that doubles as a mobile tech hub.

A comprehensive range of powertrain options includes an advanced new plug-in hybrid electric-petrol, with an EV range of up to 31 miles (51km), and an uprated 565PS V8 supercharged petrol engine.

Executive Class rear seats are central to the appeal of the luxurious new model. Combined with the long-wheelbase body, they offer rear legroom of over 1.2m while deep seat foams with new comfort interlayers deliver enhanced passenger wellbeing. With a powered 40-degree recline capability, hot stone massage function, heated calf and foot rests, and 22-way adjustment, the rear cabin promises a peerless passenger experience.

A dramatic fixed centre console extends the full length of the cabin and the new model also allows passengers to close the rear doors using conveniently located buttons on the rear console.

Electrically deployable rear tables and integrated rear entertainment screens ensure customers can use the 4G WiFi connectivity to work or relax in comfort, while a concealed refrigerator between the twin rear seats can hold two wine bottles or four 600ml bottles. The right-hand rear seat folds to accommodate long items and customers can also specify a Power Deployable Veneered Loadspace Floor for the first time, making loading and unloading luggage easier than ever.

With convenience features providing a first class customer experience, the attention to detail delivers new levels of sophistication. An exclusive new Zenith clock features on the rear centre console, inspired by the Elite 6150 watch. Its knurled bezel complements the finish on the start/stop button, gear shifter and pedals.

Jaguar Land Rover’s elegant and intuitive Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with twin high-definition touchscreen controls is a digital butler fit for the 21st Century. Information can be swiped from one screen to the other, delivering unrivalled functionality and ease of use.

The Range Rover SVAutobiography will be hand-finished exclusively at the SVO Technical Centre in Warwickshire, UK, and makes its global motor show debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on 29 November 2017. The event will see the new Range Rover SVAutobiography presented alongside the extreme Discovery SVX and the powerful Range Rover Sport SVR, as well as the standard wheelbase SVAutobiography Dynamic, for the first time.
