The region’s leading app-based car booking service aims to train and hire 50 people with disabilities in its call center

Cairo, Egypt: March 22, 2017 – In line with its mission to empower people with disabilities in Egypt by creating equal job opportunities for them, Careem, the region’s leading app-based car booking service, aims to train and hire 50 people with disabilities in its regional call center “Careem Care” located in Cairo.

Through this initiative, Careem will add 50 people with disabilities, 30 of whom are visually-impaired, to its existing workforce of agents. The hiring process will preliminary be finalized within the coming three months. Careem has very ambitious plans to further grow its customer satisfaction levels by increasing its total call center capacity to reach 1,000 agents by the end of 2017.

Contributing to job creation in every market in which it operates is a top priority for Careem. The company managed to grow its fleet of Captains to 50,000 delivering millions of rides across Egypt. Currently, Careem Care employs 400 customer service agents as its main customer service frontline and plans to reach 1,000 Careem Care agents by end of 2017. In addition, Careem provided 42,000 drivers of white taxi cabs with the opportunity to be part of Careem’s fleet by joining our app as of September 2016 in accordance with global Careem criteria and standards.

ومن خلال هذة المبادرة ، تمنح كريم فرص عمل لـ50 شخصاً من متحدي الإعاقة، 30 منهم من المكفوفين وضعاف البصر، لينضموا لفريق العمل الحالي من ممثلي خدمة العملاء بالشركة حيث من المخطط أن يتم الانتهاء من عملية التوظيف خلال الثلاث أشهر القادمة. تأتي هذه الخطوة ضمن الخطة الطموحة لشركة كريم للعمل علي رفع مستوي رضاء عملائها عن طريق تعيين المزيد من ممثلي خدمة العملاء في "Careem Care" ليصل إلى 1000 موظف بنهاية عام 2017.

AUC’S ROBOTIX CLUB BUILDS UNDERWATER ROBOT, ADVANCES TO REGIONAL FINALS

March 19, 2017, Cairo – Building an underwater robot, the Robotix club at The American University in Cairo (AUC) recently won the local round of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), an international robotics competition organized by Marine Advanced Technology Education. The team now qualifies for the regional finals, to be held in Alexandria on April 6. This is the first year that AUC hosts a robotics competition, inviting universities to participate in the local round of ROV.

This year's challenge for the Explorer level, or university level, of the competition is to build a robot that can replace a broken fountain. The robot must be able to go underwater, disconnect the power cable and stop the flow of water by turning a valve. Once the new fountain is installed, the robot must then be able to restore the flow of water.

Mohamed Gamal AbdelShafi, vice president of operations for the club and electronics and communications engineering major, views this as a significant opportunity for the University to shift toward further emphasizing technical skills. “This is the first step toward engaging the AUC community in tech-related events and competitions,” explained AbdelShafi.

Preparing for the competition required an immense amount of team effort. The entire team was divided into sub-teams and assigned tasks to accomplish each week. “Dr. Hassan El-Fawal [dean of the School of Sciences and Engineering] was a great support,” AbdelShafi noted, adding that Dean El-Fawal was critical in helping recruit students for the club and competition.

The club is composed of four academic levels - basic, intermediate, amateur and advanced – all of which include internal competitions of their own and various levels of complexity in building robots. Members from each level who were interested and passionate about joining the competition were recruited to take part in the ROV competition.

Last year, 2016, was the first time AUC’s Robotix club qualified for the regional competition. AbdelShafi noted that the challenge for the club, moving forward, will be competing with schools that have been active in the competition for several years now.

The regional competition, will determine which teams are to continue on to the international competition. “If we win in the finals this April in Alexandria, we will represent Egypt in the final competition in the USA,” says AbdelShafi. The international competition will take place in June 2017 at Long Beach City College in Long Beach, California, USA.

Kärcher’s Pressure Washers Puts Control Back in the User’s Hands

Dubai, 26 March, 2017-- Kärcher, the world leader in innovative cleaning technology solutions is giving back control to users working with pressure washers through carefully thought out control systems for water pressure, detergent dosages, and ergonomic design on their ‘Full Control’ range.

Working with pressure washers and other cleaners can cause some consternation amongst users as the pressure emitted by the machines can cause some users to lose control. However, Kärcher pressure washers such as the K7 and K5, that come equipped with Kärcher's ‘Full Control’ technology make working with pressure convenient.

The trigger gun on these machines is equipped to control water pressure, detergent dosage; and plus and minus controls allows users to select between six pressure and three detergent levels. Ergonomically placed to allow for easy access during operation of the machine, the design feature allows for easy adaption of the working pressure according to changing surfaces without stopping, which increases speed and efficiency. Thanks to the central parking position on the front of the devices, the trigger gun can be accessed quickly and stored during work breaks

The new spray lance combines a dirt blaster, flat stream and detergent nozzle, which can be selected by simple twisting motion. The pressure washers are also equipped with self-explanatory symbols on the spray lance to help the user select the appropriate nozzle for any given application. For example, the symbol of a stone wall represents cleaning robust surfaces with the powerful dirt blaster. Further, a clear LCD display on the trigger gun lets the user know all important settings constantly.

Like all Kärcher pressure washers in the middle and top range, the new models in the ‘Full Control’ range are also equipped with a water-cooled motor. Before the water is dispensed for cleaning, it flows around the motor casing, providing constant cooling. معدات كارشر للتنظيف بالضغط العالي للماء تتيح للمستخدم إمكانية التحكم بإعدادات الجهاز

(دبي، 26 مارس 2017) - أدرجت شركة كارشر،الرائدة عالمياً في مجال حلول تكنولوجيا التنظيف المبتكرة، للمستخدمين الذين يستعملون ماكينات الضغط العالي من منتجاتها خياراً يتيح لهم السيطرة على هذه المعدات، وذلك من خلال أنظمة تشغيل مدروسة بعناية للتحكم بضغط المياه، والجرعات المستخدمة من مواد التنظيف ضمن تصميم مريح يساعد على استخدام هذه الآلات في نطاق "السيطرة الكاملة".

ولفعالية أكبر، تم تجهيز زناد الضخ في هذه الآلات وتزويده بأزرار تحكم لزيادة السيطرة على ضخ المياه، وجرعات مواد التنظيف، مع أزرار ترفع وتقلص مستوى ضخ الماء، الأمر الذي يسمح للمستخدمين بتحديد الضغط المرغوب فيه من بين ستة مستويات، إلى جانب تحديد معدل استهلاك الجرعات من خلال ثلاثة مستويات متاحة. حيث تم إدراج هذه التعديلات لمساعدة المستخدم من الوصول إلى مستوى التحكم المناسب خلال عملية تشغيل الجهاز، فيما ستجعل هذه الخيارات المضافة معدات كارشر، أجهزة أكثر فاعلية وملائمة للتنظيف وفقاً لنوع الأسطح التي يتم تنظيفها دون الحاجة لإيقاف الجهاز وإعادة تشغيله، مما يزيد من سرعة وكفاءة منتجات الشركة. كما أنه وبفضل وضعية التوقف المركزية الموجودة في الجزء الأمامي من الأجهزة، يمكن لزناد الضخ التحول للسرعة المطلوبة والإبقاء عليها حتى خلال فترة التوقف الجزئي عن العمل.  

كما أن عبوة رش الرذاذ الجديدة تحتوي على منظف مخصص للغبار والأوساخ، وتيار ثابت لتحريكها، وخرطوم لسكب المنظفات، كما يمكن الاختيار فيما بينها عن طريق زر التبديل المدرج في الجهاز. وقد تم تجهيز ماكينات الضغط العالي مع رموز ذاتية التفسير تظهر على مرش الرذاذ، لمساعدة المستخدم في اختيار المنفذ المناسب لعملية التنظيف التي يقوم بها في كل مرة. فعلى سبيل المثال، فإن رمز الجدار الحجري يمثل تنظيف الأسطح القوية ويحتاج لمنفذ الأوساخ الصعبة. وعلاوة على ذلك، تحتوي هذه الأجهزة على شاشة إل سي دي عالية الوضوح مثبتة على زناد الضخ ليتمكن المستخدم من معرفة جميع الإعدادات الهامة خلال عملية التنظيف.

TASNEEF showcases key achievements for the first quarter of 2017

Several new projects announced during “Navdex 2017” and strategic partnerships established, further boosting an extensive roster of achievements

Abu Dhabi, 19th of March 2017: Emirates Classification Society “TASNEEF” recently showcased its key 2017 first quarter achievements at the Naval Defence Exhibition and Conference 2017 “NAVDEX” in Abu Dhabi. The event also provided the opportunity for TASNEEF to establish strategic partnerships with similar organisations exhibit its projects and connect with customers.

TASNEEF made significant headway strengthening its industry relationships at the event, agreeing on future cooperation with classification societies such as the British maritime classification society “Lloyd's Register”, the American Bureau of Shipping “ABS” and the Italian classification society “RINA”.

The first “Arialah” vessel was also commissioned at the event, for which TASNEEF had developed the standards for building the vessel, from planning through to construction and its first sea trail. The “Arialah” project represents an important milestone for TASNEEF as a strategic partner for the national shipping industry that supports a wide range of maritime sectors such as fishing boats and yachts to the largest oil and gas exploration platforms exported all over the world.

A Memorandum of Understanding “MoU” was also signed during NAVDEX between TASNEEF and Tawazun Safety, Security and Disaster Management City “Jaheziya”. During this two-year MoU, TASNEEF will provide its expertise in safety and training for all Jaheziya training programmes. The event also witnessed TASNEEF handing over the ISO quality management system certificate (ISO 9001:2015) to Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investments, the first company in the autonomous system industry to receive the certificate.

The Floating Seahorse project was showcased by TASNEEF at NAVDEX, featuring floating villas that are unique feats of architecture and engineering, and which combine luxury yachting and water housing development. TASNEEF has already overseen the construction standards of these villas and is currently working on developing pioneering engineering standards, representing a world first for architecture and engineering. This project is carried out in partnership with UAE regulatory authorities in the navigation and maritime transport sector.

Eng. Rashed Al Hebsi, CEO of TASNEEF, emphasized “The Emirates Classification Society “TASNEEF” empowers a number of UAE industrial and strategic sectors, through the development of Emirati technical expertise and standards. Today, we have established ourselves as setting a new benchmark for the UAE marine industry’s development, having developed the Sahara Notation for vessels operating in warm waters. Our organisation also issues certificates of compliance to the UAE Yacht Code, the first of its kind in the world, which is issued by the Federal Authority for Land and Maritime Transport. Today, we provide expertise, quality standards and business assurance certificates that are essential for the advancement of the global competitiveness of the UAE industrial and commercial sectors."

Al Hebsi adds, "Our first quarter results have provided much cause for optimism this year compared to last year, demonstrating remarkable progress and diversified projects serving multiple sectors. Our partnership with Jaheziya is an important step through which we contribute to the continuity of the UAE’s vital sectors and infrastructure facilities, creating a robust infrastructure that can withstand natural disasters which meets the highest international standards.”

TASNEEF’s projects attracted the attention of many NAVDEX visitors and VIPs, including His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who visited TASNEEF’s stand at the exhibition. His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Interior, also received a briefing on TASNEEF’s key projects.

تصنيف تنجح في تعزيز الخبرات الهندسية والمعايير القياسية بأيدي إماراتية

أبوظبي –20 مارس-2017: أعلنت هيئة الإمارات للتصنيف "تصنيف" أن الربع الأول من العام الحالي شهد إنجازات كبيرة سهدت من خلالها الهيئة اتفاقيات استراتيجية مع مؤسسات وطنية و دولية. كما عززت تصنيف علاقاتها من خلال شراكات مع هيئات تصنيف أخرى مثل هيئة التصنيف الإنجليزية “Lloyd Register”و هيئة التصنيف الأمريكية“ABS”  وهيئة التصنيف الإيطالية“RINA”  و ذلك من خلال مشاريع مختلفة.

ونجحت تصنيف في  تسليم السفينة الأولى من مشروع (أريلة) التابع للقوات المسلحة، والتي قامت تصنيف على معايير بنائها بالكامل ابتداء من وضع المخططات وحتى إكمال أعمال البناء وتجهيزها للإبحار. وتمثل هذه الخطوة نقلة نوعية في مجال الخدمات التي تقدمها تصنيف، لتكون شريكاً استراتيجياً في صناعة بناء السفن الوطنية، التي تشمل طيفاً واسعاً من قطاعات الصناعة، ابتداء بقوارب الصيد واليخوت، وانتهاء بأكبر منصات التنقيب عن النفط والغاز التي تصدر حول العالم.

تعليقاً على كل تلك الإنجازات صرح المهندس راشد الحبسي، الرئيس التنفيذي لتصنيف، قائلاً: "انطلقت هيئة الإمارات للتصنيف "تصنيف" كمشروع وطني يهدف إلى تمكين قطاعات صناعية واستراتيجية متنوعة في الدولة من خلال تعزيز الخبرات التقنية والمعايير القياسية بأيدي وطنية، ونحمد الله أننا اليوم نسير بخطى ثابتة على هذا الطريق، إذ أصبح لنا بصمة واضحة في تطوير المعايير القياسية في مجال الصناعات البحرية، حيث أطلقنا معيار صحارى لصناعة السفن التي تعمل في المياه الدافئة، كما نتولى مسؤولية إصدار شهادات المطابقة للكود الإمارات لليخوت، الأول من نوعه في العالم والصادر عن الهيئة الاتحادية للنقل البحري والبري، كما تم اعتمادنا لإصدار شهادات المعاينة في دول مجلس التعاون والعديد من الدول العربية، ونمثل اليوم بيتاً للخبرة في مجال شهادات الجودة القياسية وضمان الأعمال، وهي أحدى أهم المتطلبات التي ترتقي بتنافسية القطاع الصناعي والتجاري في الدولة إلى العالمية".

وأضاف الحبسي: "نشعر بتفاؤل كبير هذا العام مقارنة بالعام الماضي، وتظهر نتائجنا في الربع الأول تقدماً ملحوظاً وتنوعاً في مشروعاتنا التي تخدم عدة قطاعات ومجالات، ونعتبر شراكتنا مع "جاهزية" خطوة هامة نساهم من خلالها بتوفير ديمومة القطاعات الحيوية ومرافق البنية التحتية في الدولة لمواجهة الكوارث، وفق أفضل المعايير القياسية العالمية، كما نفخر بأننا اليوم نوفر المعايير الفنية والمواصفات القياسية للإشراف على بناء السفن، ونعتبر أن موقع دولة الإمارات في قلب الطرق التجارية يفتح لها المجال لتكون من أكبر مصنعي السفن في العالم، وقد خطونا خطوات إضافية لنتعدى صناعة السفن التقليدية ونساهم في ابتكارات جديدة في مجال الصناعات البحرية، ونعتبر مساهمتنا في مشروع "Seahorse" نقلة نوعية تفتح آفاقاً جديدة أمام التطوير العقاري للمساكن الفاخرة والمبتكرة والمطلة على الواجهات المائية، ونعتقد أن هذا القطاع سيشهد طلباً كبيراً في السنوات القادمة، ضمن استراتيجية نبحث في إطلاقها قريباً لنكون بيتاً للخبرة بالنسبة لشركات التطوير العقاري والسياحي المعتمد على تطوير واستثمار الواجهات البحرية".
