WSS moves to strengthen position in Asian offshore market

Singapore, September 29, 2015: Wilhelmsen Ships Service is pleased to announce that Frank Liang has been named Regional Offshore Manager Asia, tasked with building the company’s business with rig contractors.

According to Sean Neilan, Sales & Marketing Director in Asia Pacific, Liang will play an important role in WSS's strategic initiative towards the offshore market. “Frank has a strong business development background and a proven track record in maintaining long term relationships with clients,” he says. “This will be needed as Frank demonstrates the value he and WSS can deliver to our new target market and builds up our profile and reputation in this important segment.”

In his almost three-decade career working as an ITC specialist within the marine, offshore & energy industries, Liang brings a wealth of experience and a vast network to WSS operations in Asia. “My primary focus is to leverage our global network and comprehensive product assortment to meet the specific demands of rig contractors,” he says.  “While the company has been active in this segment for decades, we are confident that by refocusing our approach to this market, we can generate strong growth.”  

While Liang acknowledges that low oil prices have slowed offshore production in the region, he notes that rig contractors are under increasing pressure to improve services and reduce costs. “The scale and scope of our offering and global network puts WSS in a strong position to attract new customers,” he says.  “We have also identified areas where we can easily create bespoke solutions to meet the specific demands of individual rig customers.”

Liang will also work closely with WSS’ global offshore team, which works with the top 18 rig contractors in the world, and coordinate with other Regional Directors to help standardise WSS product and service offerings. “The leading contractors serve about 60 per cent of the world’s rigs, so represent a critical part of our business going forward,” he explains.  “We will also target smaller contractors serving rigs here in Asia.”

Liang has moved quickly to get to know his sales staff and share his ideas. In late July, he hosted a two-day offshore conference in Singapore, bringing together about 30 Account Managers, Sales Managers and Product Managers in the Asia Pacific region for training. “Our goal was to introduce the specific risk factors and business strategies use to target the offshore market,” he says.  “We are confident that by working more closely with our colleagues in other regions and departments to align our services, we will be in a stronger position when the rig market improves.”

Aura

Nissan Maxima's styling showcases Nissan's new design language - including V-Motion front end, signature boomerang lights, kick-up C-pillars and unique floating roof appearance. Inside, the Nissan Maxima's premium class-above, bespoke interior is anchored by a driver's cockpit that rivals luxury vehicles.

The new vehicle was developed under the inspiration of the Blue Angels at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola – Florida, United States. It holds a specific style inspired by the ‘jet fighter’ styling theme and ergonomic layout.

The futuristic appearance is finished with large dual exhaust chrome tailpipe finishers and 18-inch machined aluminum-alloy wheels. The Nissan Maxima SR adds 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels that use a unique diamond-cut machined finish.

The Nissan Maxima’s totally redesigned interior is anchored by a “command centre” driver’s cockpit and a premium bespoke style crafted execution. The console also features luxurious padding on the sides with contrasted stitching. A new Display Commander control on the console allows fingertip control of the center display as befitting a premium sport sedan.

The Nissan Maxima's interior execution was a strong focus from the onset of development, with the goal of offering an interior that truly rivals luxury vehicles. It offers genuine stitching on the instrument panel, doors and console, available ambient lighting, available premium leather seating surfaces with diamond-quilted inserts, unique faceted finishers and a sporty D-shaped (flat-bottom) steering wheel.

Performance

In a number of aspects the Nissan Maxima’s performance substantially eclipses market performance and is on a par with many sports cars, moving it closer to its big brother - the Nissan GT-R.

The Nissan Maxima's 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 has been redesigned with more than 60 percent new parts (compared to the previous generation 3.5-liter V6). With 300 horsepower, the Nissan Maxima has a high specific output of 85.7 horsepower/liter. The revised engine helps it achieve an anticipated 15 percent increase in highway fuel economy to an EPA estimated 30 miles per gallon*.

Complementing the revised powerplant is a new, performance-oriented Xtronic transmission featuring a wider ratio range, which allows for stronger acceleration from a standing start and an all-new D-Step shifting logic that provides rapid shifts at high throttle openings.

Technology

The Nissan Maxima's next-generation premium-level technology features include an 8.0-inch color display features multi-touch control for intuitive smartphone-like gestures such as swiping and pinch-to-zoom. The system is paired with a standard 7.0-inch Advanced Drive Assist Display (ADAD) within the instrument cluster.

The vehicle boasts an extensive range of safety, security and driving aids, including Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) and Blind Spot Warning (BSW). The Nissan Maxima also offers an available Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system which monitors steering input patterns to establish a baseline and helps alert the driver when drowsy or inattentive driving is detected (only on Nissan Maxima SR grade).

DIABETES AND YOUR EYES

Untreated diabetes can lead to complete vision loss.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (ME NewsWire ) --  Diabetes is a metabolic disorder in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, a hormone that allows the body to use blood sugar for energy. داء السكري وصحة العين

يمكن أن يؤدي داء السكري غير المعالج إلى فقدان كامل للبصر

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 29 سبتمبر 2015 – ) ميدل ايست نيوز واير(  يعد داء السكري اضطراب تمثيل غذائي يتجسد بعدم إنتاج الجسم للأنسولين أو استخدامه بشكل صحيح، حيث يعد الإنسولين الهرمون الذي يتيح للجسم استخدام سكر الدم للحصول على الطاقة. وتعتبر المستويات العالية لسكر الدم السمة الأساسية لداء السكري، وقد تتسبب بتغيرات في الأوعية الدموية لشبكية العين التي تعد شبكة الأنسجة الحساسة للضوء الواقعة في الجزء الخلفي من العين والضرورية من أجل الرؤية بشكل جيد.

وقال الأستاذ الدكتور أيمن شومان، استشاري جراحة الماء الأبيض والشبكية والجسم الزجاجي في المركز الإسباني بدبي في سياق تعليقه على مخاطر داء السكري وتسببه بتلف العيون: "يعتبر اعتلال الشبكية السكري السبب الرئيسي لحالات فقدان البصر الجديدة بين البالغين الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 20 و74 عاماً".

ويشكل فحص العين الشامل الطريقة الوحيدة التي يمكن من خلالها تشخيص اعتلال الشبكية السكري، وفي بعض الأحيان، يتم تشخيص الإصابة بداء السكري في عيادة طبيب العيون عند اكتشاف اعتلال الشبكية السكري.

ويتعرض جميع الأشخاص الذين يعانون من داء السكري بما في ذلك النوع الأول (الذي يصيب الصغار) والنوع الثاني (الذي يصيب البالغين)، لمخاطر تطور اعتلال الشبكية السكري. وكلما كانت فترة الإصابة بداء السكري أطول كلما تزايدت فرص تطور اعتلال الشبكية السكري، كما يُظهر هذا المرض عنصراً وراثياً حيث إذا كانت جدتكم تعاني على سبيل المثال من اعتلال الشبكية السكري، فإن فرص إصابتكم بالمرض ترتفع نتيجة لذلك.

Management team appointed for new DUKES Dubai hotel and hotel apartments

Seasoned hotel operator Mete Atakuman to lead pre-opening EXCOM team as luxury British-themed hotel and hotel apartments on Palm Jumeirah count down to Q1 2016 opening

Dubai-based luxury property developer and holding company Seven Tides has appointed the general manager and four senior executive committee members for its latest five-star hospitality venture, DUKES Dubai hotel and hotel apartment project.

Seasoned general manager, Mete Atakuman, will head up the team and brings more than 20 years’ industry experience to the role with emphasis on openings and acquisition.

An Australian citizen, Atakuman, has vast experience of Dubai-based brands, having previously worked with the Jumeirah Group to oversee the takeover of the Jumeirah Bodrum Palace, Turkey as well as managing several high profile pre-opening projects in China and Azerbaijan for the international luxury hotel chain.

“Mete has a proven operational and commercial track record when it comes to spearheading new hotel projects, and his experience of conveying luxury brand concepts will be instrumental to our success as we introduce this uniquely British brand to an expectant market in the region,” said Abdulla Bin Sulayem, CEO, Seven Tides, developer of DUKES Dubai.

Atakuman will lead a seasoned EXCOM team which includes Laetitia Pardo who joins DUKES Dubai as director of sales & marketing. A French national with hospitality industry experience on two continents, she will play a pivotal role in positioning DUKES in the region as well as ensuring a healthy market mix for the luxury property’s leisure, business and MICE segments.

A strong team leader with 17 years’ experience in both the hotel and serviced apartment sector, Pardo has worked for renowned hotel groups such as Atlantis The Palm, Hilton International and Sofitel, as well as iconic properties including The Savoy in London.

Former French naval officer, Richard Mazeau, takes on responsibility for DUKES Dubai’s recruitment strategy as the new director of human resources.

Previous experience includes Anantara Doha, where he oversaw recruitment from pre-opening, the opening of the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, as well as managing HR and training for One&Only Resorts, Dubai.

The fourth new member of the executive team, director of engineering, Avnish Kumar, has been at the sharp end of the industry in the region for a decade as a pre-opening specialist, working with TIME Hotels, Mövenpick and The Address Hotels amongst others.

Rounding out the appointments list is Navin Shah, the hotel’s director of finance. A qualified chartered accountant with over 15 years’ experience.

He has held a number of executive director positions, and has worked on high profile brand and property launches for Zaya Hotel Management, The Address Hotels and Accor in the UAE, as well as for Millennium & Copthorne covering the Middle East and Africa.

وسيقود المدير العام المتمرس ميت اتاكومان الفريق ويجلب معه خبرة تزيد عن 20 عاما في القطاع الفندقي لممارسة دوره مع التركيز على مشاريع الافتتاح والاستحواذ.

ويمتلك اتاكومان الاسترالي الجنسية خبرة واسعة في فنادق دبي الشهيرة حيث عمل سابقا مع مجموعة جميرا للاشراف على عملية الاستحواذ على جميرا بودروم بالاس في تركيا اضافة الى ادارة العديد من المشاريع البارزة قبل التدشين في الصين وأذربيجان لسلسلة الفنادق الدولية الفاخرة.

وسيقود اتاكومان فريقا متمرسا لمرحلة ما قبل الافتتاح يضم ليتيتيا باردو التي تنضم لفندق ديوكس دبي كمدير تسويق ومبيعات، وستلعب باردو الفرنسية الجنسية التي تمتلك خبرة في قطاع الضيافة في قارتين دورا رئيسيا في وضع ديوكس على الخارطة في المنطقة فضلا عن ضمان تلبية الفندق الفخم لمتطلبات السوق في قطاعات الترفيه والاعمال والانشطة المتعلقة بالمؤتمرات والحوافز والاجتماعات والمعارض.

وباردو التي تعتبر قائدة فريق قوية بخبرة 17 عاما في قطاعي الفنادق والشقق الفندقية، عملت لصالح العديد من المجموعات الفندقية المرموقة مثل اتلانتس النخلة، هيلتون انترناشيونال وسوفيتيل اضافة لفنادق ايقونية ومنها سافوي في لندن.

ويتولى ضابط البحرية الفرنسية السابق ريتشارد مازو مسؤوليات تطبيق استراتيجية الاستقطاب المهني لفندق ديوكس دبي باعتباره المدير الجديد للموارد البشرية. وتشمل خبراته السابقة انانتارا الدوحة حيث اشرف على التعيينات منذ مرحلة ما قبل الافتتاح، وافتتاح ريتز-كارلتون ابوظبي، اضافة الى ادارة الموارد البشرية والتدريب لمنتجعات ون اند اونلي في دبي.

العضو الرابع الجديد في الفريق التنفيذي هو مدير العمليات الهندسية افنيش كومار الذي قام بأدوار بارزة في المنطقة لأكثر من عقد من السنوات كمتخصص في مراحل ما قبل الافتتاح حيث عمل مع فنادق تايم وموفنبيك والعنوان وغيرها.

اما ختام هذه التعيينات البارزة فهو نافين شاه مدير المالية في الفندق وهو محاسب مجاز ومؤهل وله خبرة تمتد لأكثر من 15 عاما. وتولى شاه العديد من المراكز الادارية التنفيذية حيث عمل في اطلاق العديد من الفنادق وادارتها مع زايا لإدارة الفنادق وفنادق العنوان وأكور في الامارات العربية المتحدة اضافة الى ملينيوم وكوبثورن في الشرق الاوسط وافريقيا.

CBRE Bahrain announces two key appointments to its expanding team

CBRE Bahrain, opened in 2008, now has a fast-growing team covering its core services: research and consultancy, valuation, asset services, property management as well as sales and agency. The Bahrain office also services Saudi Arabia and the addition of key team members further strengthens CBRE capabilities in the region.   The new management appointments, within research and consultancy service line, reflect the increasing demand in the field.  As developers and investment firms seek international expertise and development advice, CBRE Bahrain is well positioned to provide feasibility, best-use studies and market research to support development decisions for their clients, with an expanding team that includes key personnel with a wealth of experience.

With more than 10 years’ experience across the region in the real estate sector, which includes senior management positions at both Cluttons and Savills, James Lynn joins CBRE Bahrain as Director and Head of Research and Consultancy, covering both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. In this role, James is tasked with utilising his knowledge of Middle Eastern markets, to deliver development services to public and private sector clients, covering a cross section of asset classes, including: residential, office, retail, hotel and industrial.

Orest Lachowycz joins as a Research and Consultancy Manager at CBRE Bahrain. He brings over a decade of experience of working within the region, with a background that includes market research and project management. As part of his profile, Orest will play a primary role in providing key information and advice to property owning clients. Forming an integral part of the professional services team, he will support the department in conducting research and analysis.
