Organizations collaborate for the third year in a row to train 200 children from UAE

UAE, August 5, 2014: ICDL GCC Foundation, an organization under the authority of ICDL Arabia that promotes digital skills and cyber safety across the region, and leading global financial services organization HSBC Bank Middle East Limited have collaborated for the third consecutive year to train new 200 children from UAE about fundamental digital skills and cyber safety knowledge. The latest edition of ICDL Summer Camp is to empower underprivileged youth with essential computer skills and teach them how to responsibly and safely use smart devices and social media platforms.

Children from Umm Al Quwain joined the camp for the first time this year. Meanwhile, Ajman University extended its assistance as one of the supporting venues for second consecutive year now. The main objective of ICDL Summer Camp, which started on August 3 and will end on August 21, is to provide extensive training on ICDL and on an ICDL GCC endorsed international certification program, called ‘Social Media for All,’ followed by international exams to gain international certificates. The ICDL Summer Camp is part of the efforts of both ICDL GCC and HSBC Bank Middle East Limited to reach out to the less-privileged members of society, especially the youth, and instil in them the importance of cyber safety.

ويشهد المخيم هذا العام مشاركة أولى لعدد من الفتية والفتيات من إمارة أم القيوين. وبدورها، جدّدت "جامعة عجمان" للعام الثاني على التوالي دعمها للحدث كوجهة مضيفة للمجموعات المستفيدة في إمارة عجمان وفتحت مختبرات الكمبيوتر لديها لتدريب واختبار المشاركين. كما تقدم وزارة التنمية الإجتماعية للمرة الأولى دعمها لهذه المبادرة عبر توفير مركزيها في الفجيرة وأم القيوين مجانا لاستضافة فعاليات المخيم واستخدام مختبرات الكمبيوتر المتوفرة فيها. وتتمحور مخيمات الـ ICDL الصيفية حول تقديم التدريب المكثف والإختبارات الدولية للناشئين للحصول على شهادة " الرخصة الدولية لقيادة الكمبيوتر ICDL" أو شهادة "وسائل الإعلام الإجتماعي للجميع المعتمدة دوليا" .

وقال جميل عزو، مدير عام مؤسسة "أي سي دي أل -العربية": "نحن سعداء بالشراكة مع بنك HSBC في سياق تنظيم المخيمات الصيفية، بما يعكس إيماننا المشترك بضرورة تزويد النشء بغض النظر عن مكانتهم الإجتماعية، بالمهارات الأساسية لإستخدام الحاسب الآلي في سبيل الريادة والتميّز في هذا العصر الرقمي. ونحن ندرك أهمية الحاجة إلى زيادة المعرفة الرقمية بين أوساط الشباب وإعدادهم لمواجهة كافة التحديات والتهديدات الإلكترونية. ونحن نسعى من خلال مخيمات ال ICDL الصيفية السنوية إلى تحقيق هذه الأهداف المرجوة ودعم تعزيز الوعي والكفاءة الرقميين لضمان تكافؤ الفرص للنشء في مختلف أنحاء المنطقة." 

ومن جهتها، قالت صابرين رحمن، مدير أول- الاستدامة الاولية في بنك HSBC Middle East: "يأتي تعاوننا مع مؤسسة الرخصة الدولية في سياق سعينا الدؤوب لدعم جميع المبادرات الرامية إلى إكساب الشباب المهارات الرقمية اللازمة ورفع مستوى الوعي بالسلامة الإلكترونية. وكما في كل عام، نهدف من دعم مخيّمات الـ ICDL الصيفية 2014 إلى تعزيز الكفاءة الرقمية لدى النشء والإرتقاء بالقدرات التنافسية التي يتمتعون بها لضمان إمتلاك الجيل القادم المهارات والمعرفة الرقمية الأساسية." 

وسيتولى "المعهد الوطني للتعليم المهني" (NIVA) التابع لـ "هيئة المعرفة والتنمية البشرية في دبي" (KHDA) تقديم خدمات التدريب والإختبار التي تخصّ برامج الشهادات الدولية في المخيّم الصيفي في كل إمارة عبر مدربين معتمدين وأكفاء، وذلك بالشراكة مع "منطقة رأس الخيمة التعليمية" و"منطقة الفجيرة التعليمية" و"جمعية الإحسان الخيرية" في عجمان، ومؤسّسة الهلال الأحمر في الإمارات حيث زودت جميع تلك الجهات الفتية والفتيات المسجلين في المخيم. 

وسيتخلّل المخيم الصيفي أيضاً توزيع الهدايا القيّمة وتذاكر لدخول الحدائق المائية في الإمارات، على جميع المشاركين والمشاركات وذلك تقدمة كل من مؤسسة الرخصة الدولية ومركز أبوظبي للأنظمة الإلكترونية والمعلومات (ADSIC) ومركز وزارة الداخلية لحماية الطفل، وشركة "كانون" و"ITP" وشركة "براذر" و"مدينة أكوافنتشر المائية" و"الحجرات المفقودة" في فندق "أتلانتس"، و"دبي دولفينيوم" (Dubai Dolphinarium) و"دريم لايد أكوابارك" في أم القيوين. 

وتم أيضا" في عامي 2012 و2013 إقامة مخيّمات ال ICDL الصيفية بتمويل من بنك HSBC لتمكين الأطفال المحتاجين في الإمارات. ونجح المخيم في دورة 2012 من مساعدة 72 طفلاً من إمارتي الفجيرة ورأس الخيمة على إكتساب المهارات الأساسية لإستخدام الحاسب الآلي. وفي عام 2013، إستقطب المخيم نحو 200 فتى وفتاة من الأيتام أو ذوي الدخل المحدود من إمارات عجمان والفجيرة ورأس الخيمة والشارقة للإطلاع على أهم المهارات الأساسية في إستخدام وسائل التواصل الإجتماعية والتعرّف على أهم الممارسات المتّبعة لضمان السلامة الإلكترونية على شبكة الإنترنت.
