Bringing together world-class expertise with Zambian wellness culture and breathtaking scenery, The Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara will host a three-day Sophrology sleep retreat from 25-28 June that will provide guests with a wellness sanctuary set along the banks of the Zambezi River, in full view of the spray of the Victoria Falls.

The Sophrology sleep retreat will provide guests with a serene environment that will rejuvenate mind, body and soul through exercises and techniques designed to combat insomnia, burnout and anxiety, through group and individual Sophrology sessions and spa treatments.

Conducted by Ishana Maharaj, with over six years’ experience as a practitioner, and the first Sophrology International teacher in Africa, her ultimate passion is to help and support people in their journey of optimal health, well-being, and personal development.

The hotel’s location is unmatched, a mere 10-minute walk away from the Victoria Falls, with guests enjoying direct and unlimited complimentary access via the hotel’s private entrance. Luxury guest rooms and spacious suites all feature a balcony or veranda with an outdoor seating area facing gardens frequented by free-roaming zebras, impalas, giraffes and monkeys, and the Zambezi River beyond, providing guests with a firsthand glimpse of Zambia’s natural beauty and wildlife.

The Anantara Spa is set on the banks of the Zambezi River, with a spectacular outdoor setting for natural revitalisation. Guests can enjoy treatments in riverside gazebos, immersed in the idyllic beauty of the Zambezi River, with rushing water, chirping birdsong and the calls of wildlife providing an uplifting soundtrack. The spa’s treatments draw on revered local wellness traditions and age-old beauty secrets. Signature experiences include the Zambezi Massage, which uses a traditional technique also known as Ukuchina. In this massage, warm towels are used in kneading and compression movements to relieve muscle pain and tension. The combination of authentic African techniques and Western massage creates the ultimate relaxation experience and promotes wellbeing throughout the body. Traditionally performed to rejuvenate and cure malaria, fatigue, muscle pain, inflammation and other body ailments.

Outside of the retreat guests can experience Zambia’s adventure activities. Those that dare can swim in the Devil’s Pool, at the edge of Victoria Falls, where the water plummets 350-feet down, providing a pulse-racing dip, or take on one of the world’s most challenging gorge rapids with the excitement of whitewater rafting and jet-boating on the Zambezi River. Adrenalin junkies conquer spectacular heights with abseil, gorge swing and high wire thrills in the Bakota Gorge.

The three-day Sophrology retreat is from USD 2,364 per person and includes:
