Dubai, United Arab Emirates (April 15, 2022) – Millennium Hotels & Resorts MEA, one of the fastest-growing regional hotel management companies in the Middle East & Africa, has partnered with the UAE Food Bank, a non-profit charitable organisation to offer safe and fresh food to the beneficiaries in the UAE, during the holy month of Ramadan.
In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the organisation aims to eliminate food waste and reuse most of the excess food from various entities by collecting, storing and distributing it to those in need.

Millennium Hotels across the UAE will participate in the campaign by donating excess food and beverages from their Iftar buffets.
According to reports by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), nearly one-third of the world's food is wasted annually, equivalent to about 1.3 billion tons of food and approximately one trillion dollars. Millennium Hotels and Resorts MEA aims to influence the social perception and behaviour toward food waste and over-consumption through joining efforts and initiating partnerships with the public and private sectors to maximise the efficiency of food collection, storage and distribution.
The UAE Food Bank is a non-profit charitable organisation committed to distributing food to the less fortunate while eliminating food waste by collaborating with local authorities and local and international charities to create a comprehensive ecosystem to efficiently store, package and distribute excess fresh food from hotels, restaurants and supermarkets. It is the first Food Bank in the United Arab Emirates.
شراكة بين فنادق ومنتجعات ميلينيوم وبنك الإمارات للطعام للتقليل من هدر الطعام خلال شهر رمضان  دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة (15 ابريل 2022) – أعلنت فنادق ومنتجعات ميلينيوم الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا، إحدى أسرع شركات إدارة الفنادق نموا في المنطقة، عن تعاونها مع بنك الإمارات للطعام وهو منظمة خيرية غير ربحية ملتزمة بتوزيع الغذاء الفائض عن حاجة المؤسسات الغذائية والأفراد على المحتاجين، وذلك لتقديم وجبات مغذية وصحية وتوصيلها الى المستفيدين في الإمارات خلال شهر رمضان المبارك. تماشياً مع توجيهات صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي، يهدف بنك الإمارات للطعام إلى القضاء على الهدر الغذائي وإعادة استخدام وجمع المواد الغذائية الزائدة من الجهات المختلفة وتخزينها وتوزيعها على المحتاجين. وقال حميد سيدين، مدير العمليات في فنادق ومنتجعات ميلينيوم في الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا، "تعمل فنادق ومنتجعات ميلينيوم على إحداث تأثير إيجابي في المجتمعات التي تعمل فيها وتوفير كافة سبل الدعم للمحتاجين. ويسعدنا التعاون مع بنك الإمارات للطعام لتعزيز قيم التراحم خلال الشهر الفضيل والمساهمة الفعالة في التقليل من هدر الطعام". وتشارك فنادق ميلينيوم في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في هذه المبادرة من خلال التبرع بالأطعمة والمشروبات الزائدة من بوفيهات الإفطار على امتداد الشهر الفضيل. وبحسب تقارير منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة، يُهدر ما يقرب من ثلث غذاء العالم سنويا، أي ما يعادل نحو 1.3 مليار طن من الغذاء بقيمة تبلغ حوالي تريليون دولار. وتهدف فنادق ومنتجعات ميلينيوم الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا إلى التأثير على السلوك الاجتماعي تجاه هدر الطعام ومواجهة الإفراط في الاستهلاك من خلال توحيد الجهود وبناء الشراكات المثمرة مع القطاعين العام والخاص لتعزيز كفاءة جمع الأغذية وتخزينها وتوزيعها. بنك الإمارات للطعام هو منظمة خيرية غير ربحية ملتزمة بتوزيع الطعام على المحتاجين والقضاء على هدر الطعام من خلال التعاون مع السلطات المحلية والجمعيات الخيرية المحلية والدولية لإنشاء نظام بيئي شامل لتخزين وتعبئة وتوزيع الأغذية الطازجة بكفاءة من الفنادق، والمطاعم ومحلات السوبر ماركت. وهو أول بنك طعام في الإمارات العربية المتحدة. |
