The Tahir Cultural Center (TCC) at The American University in Cairo (AUC) is organizing a tribute to Fouad Haddad, an Egyptian influential poet whose song lyrics and writings are an integral part of the Egyptian memory and experience. Haddad will be celebrated on a night of reflection, poetry recital, singing, and music. The event will start with a discussion of the role of Haddad’s poetry in the Egyptian scene, which will include Haddad’s son, Amin and Nabil Abdelfattah, writer and political analyst. The discussion will be moderated by Reem Hatem, a poetry expert. The discussion will be followed by a musical performance featuring Ahmed Ismail, singer and oud player who will sing some of Haddad’s most famous songs.
