The Company’s mid-year-round up report also revealed that Trend Micro solutions blocked nearly one million malicious URLs in the country
Cairo, Egypt. September 30, 2020 – Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), the leader in cloud security, today released its annual mid-year roundup report. The findings reveal that in just six months, Trend Micro blocked over 12.4 million email threats in Egypt.
The report also revealed that Trend Micro solutions blocked nearly 1 million malicious URLs being accessed by users. Cybercriminals shifted their focus from January through June to take advantage of global interest in the pandemic. The risk to businesses was compounded by security gaps created by a completely remote workforce.
“The pandemic has dominated all of our lives during the first half of 2020, but it’s not slowing down the cybercriminals,” said Ashraf Serag, Country Manager, Trend Micro Egypt. “IT leaders must continue to adapt their cybersecurity strategies to account for increased threats to their new normal. That means protecting remote endpoints, cloud systems, user credentials and VPN systems, as well as refreshing training courses to turn that newly dispersed workforce into a more effective first line of defense.”

The Trend Micro mid-year round up report also cited over 235,000 malware attacks were detected in Egypt, while over 6.8 million malicious Mobile Apps were found.
In total, globally Trend Micro blocked 27.8 billion cyber threats in the first half of 2020, 93% of which were email-borne. Business Email Compromise (BEC) detections increased by 18% from the second half of 2019, in part due to scammers trying to capitalize on home workers being more exposed to social engineering.
Among all the threats in the first half of the year, ransomware was a constant factor. Although the number of detected ransomware threats decreased, Trend Micro saw a 36% increase in new ransomware families compared to the same time last year.
Trend Micro also observed a 16% increase in vulnerabilities disclosed in industrial control systems (ICS), compared to the first half of 2019, which could create major challenges for smart factory owners and other organizations running IIoT environments.
To effectively protect dispersed corporate networks, Gartner recommends businesses “refine security monitoring capabilities to reflect an operating environment where network traffic patterns, data and system access vectors have changed due to increased remote and mobile operations.” Trend Micro XDR helps customers do exactly that by correlating security events across the entire IT environment, which is critical for holistic protection in the second half of 2020.

تقرير جديد يكشف نجاح تريند مايكرو في حظر ما يقرب من مليون رابط إلكتروني (URL) خبيث في مصر
القاهرة، مصر. سبتمبر 30 ، 2020 – أصدرت اليوم تريند مايكرو إنكوربوريتد (المدرجة في بورصة طوكيو تحت الرمز: TYO: 4704 وفي بورصة تورنتو تحت الرمز: TSE: 4704)، الشركة الرائدة في مجال الأمن السحابي، تقريرها النصف سنوي للعام الجاري، والذي أظهر أن تريند مايكرو في ستة أشهر فقط قامت بحظر ما يقرب من 12.4 مليون تهديد عبر البريد الإلكتروني في مصر.
وفي سياق متّصل، كشف التقرير أن حلول تريند مايكرو حظرت ما يقرب من مليون رابط عنوانURL) (خبيث يتم الوصول إليها من قبل المستخدمين .كما أظهر التقرير تحولا في استراتيجيات مجرمي الإنترنت، لينصب تركيزهم خلال الفترة من يناير إلى يونيو نحو استغلال الاهتمام بالوباء العالمي ، وتفاقمت بذلك المخاطر التي تتعرض لها الشركات بسبب الثغرات الأمنية التي أحدثتها القوة العاملة التي تعمل عن بعد.
وبهذا الصدد قال أشرف سراج مدير عام تريند مايكرو مصر: "لقد تحكّم الوباء في جميع أجزاء حياتنا خلال النصف الأول من عام 2020، ولكنه في الوقت نفسه لم يُبطئ نشاط مجرمي الإنترنت، لذلك يجب على قادة تكنولوجيا المعلومات اعتماد استراتيجيات أمن سيبراني من شأنها التأقلم مع التهديدات المتزايدة للنظام العالمي الجديد، الأمر الذي بدوره يتطلب حماية الأجهزة التي تعمل عن بعد والأنظمة السحابية وبيانات المستخدم وأنظمة الشبكات الافتراضية الخاصة "VPN"، بالإضافة إلى إقامة دورات تدريبية حديثة بغرض تحويل القوى العاملة المتأثرة بالتطورات المستجدة إلى خط دفاع أول أكثر فاعلية".

وقد أشار تقرير المنتصف الأول لعام 2020 من تريند مايكرو إلى اكتشاف أكثر من 235000 هجوم برمجي خبيث في مصر، فيما تم العثور على أكثر من 6.8 مليون تطبيق موبايل خبيث .
وفي المجموع، حظرت تريند مايكرو على المستوى العالمي 27.8 مليار تهديد إلكتروني في النصف الأول من عام 2020، 93٪ منها عبر البريد الإلكتروني. كما زادت عمليات اكتشاف هجمات اختراق البريد الإلكتروني للشركات (BEC) بنسبة 18٪ مقارنة بالنصف الثاني من عام 2019، ويُعزى ذلك جزئياً إلى سعي المحتالين لاستغلال الموظفين الذين يعملون من المنزل كونهم أكثر عرضةً لتهديدات الهندسة الاجتماعية.
ومن بين جميع التهديدات التي حدثت خلال النصف الأول من العام الجاري، كانت فيروسات الفدية عنصراً ثابتاً، فعلى الرغم من انخفاض عدد تهديدات فيروسات الفدية المكتشفة، إلا أن تريند مايكرو شهدت زيادة بنسبة 36٪ في عائلات فيروسات الفدية الجديدة مقارنة بالفترة نفسها من العام الماضي.
وقد لاحظت تريند مايكرو أيضاً زيادة بنسبة 16٪ في نقاط الضعف المكتشفة بأنظمة التحكم الصناعي، مقارنة بالنصف الأول من عام 2019، مما قد يخلق تحديات كبيرة لأصحاب المصانع الذكية والمؤسسات الأخرى التي تستخدم بيئات إنترنت الأشياء الصناعي.
