AUC TO DISCUSS LIFE LESSONS FROM A JOURNEY IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP






WHAT

The school of Continuing Education at The American University in Cairo will hold a Community Lecture Series: Ahmed El Alfi, in Conversation with James Ketterer about “Life Lessons from a Journey in Entrepreneurship.”



Ahmed El Alfi is the founder of Sawari Ventures, a Cairo based venture capital firm. In 2011, Sawari created Flat6Labs, its own startup accelerator. Flat6Labs immerses startup entrepreneurs into real-world challenges of creating and managing sustainable enterprises. In 2013 El Alfi established the GrEEK Campus, a 25,000 square meter office park near Tahrir Square where over 130 startups now work and collaborate; and which was the home of RiseUpSummit. He also founded Nafham the top online video educational platform covering the Egyptian, Saudi and Syrian public school curriculums.

James Ketterer is dean of the School of Continuing Education. Ketterer previously served as dean of international studies at Bard College and academic director of the Bard Globalization and International Affairs program and he taught in Bard’s Political Studies and Global and International Studies programs. Ketterer previously served as Egypt country director for AMIDEAST. Prior to that, he was vice-chancellor for policy and planning and deputy provost at the State University of New York (SUNY).
