Nation’s finest cybersecurity specialists win right to fight in regional skills face-off, for a chance to reach the world finals in Tokyo
Cairo, Egypt, 16 September, 2019 – Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704), a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, this week held the third edition of the Egypt National Cybersecurity Competition. The initiative was designed to discover the country’s best talent in the field and prepare them for participation in the regional Capture the Flag (CTF) tournament, part of a global initiative that aims to foster industry talent through knowledge-based challenge to create a safer digital world.
“Trend Micro is on the front line of a daily battle to banish the cyber-criminals to the wilderness, and keep people, their identities and their digital assets safe from malicious actors,” said Ashraf Serag Egypt Managing Director, Trend Micro. “But to wage war effectively, we need the best and brightest talent available. CTF was launched five years ago to discover and hone that talent, and to make sure that they go to work for the good guys. Our partnerships with companies like CyberTalents on initiatives such as CTF, will allow the industry to make strides in plugging critical skills gaps within the cybersecurity field, so that we can continue to take the fight to combat cyber-attacks.”
The competition was held in partnership with CyberTalents, a company that assesses and ranks security professionals across the region. More than 35 teams consisting of over 170 participants took part in the event and attempted to solve a list of challenges in different categories such as Reverse Engineering, Web Security, Digital Forensics, Network Security and others.
Team r3billiοns took first place scoring 600 points, Team easyHunt was second and Team 0xDiablos came out third scoring 400 points each. These top three teams will now participate in the Arab Regional CTF, to be held in September, in Cairo. And the regional winning team will represent the Arab world at the global finals in Tokyo, in November.

الفرق الوطنية الفائزة بالمسابقة المحلية ستحظى بفرصة المشاركة في النهائيات الإقليمية للحصول على بطاقة الوصول للنهائيات العالمية في طوكيو
16 سبتمبر، 2019 - القاهرة، مصر: عقدت شركة تريند مايكرو إنكوربوريتد الرائدة عالمياً في مجال حلول الأمن الرقمية هذا الأسبوع الدورة الثالثة من المسابقة المصرية الوطنية للأمن السيبراني "التقط العلم"، وذلك في إطار جهودها الطامحة إلى اكتشاف أفضل المواهب في هذا المجال داخل الجمهورية، حيث تهدف المبادرة إلى إعدادهم للمشاركة في البطولة الإقليمية، والتي تعد جزءا من المبادرة العالمية الهادفة إلى تعزيز العقول ورفع مستوى المهارات في قطاع أمن تكنولوجيا المعلومات من خلال مسابقة قائمة على تجاوز أصعب التحديات الأمنية التي تواجه عالمنا اليوم.
ومن جانبه أكد أشرف سراج المدير التنفيذي لشركة تريند مايكرو مصر على إن الشركة تقف في صدارة المواجهة ضد مجرمي الإنترنت، مشيراً إلى أنها تعمل بجهد من أجل الحفاظ على حماية خصوصية الناس وهوياتهم وأصولهم الرقمية من أية أضرار أو هجوم ، وأردف أشرف في حديثه قائلاً بأن هذه المواجهة اليومية بحاجة ماسة إلى أفضل وألمع المواهب المتاحة، علماً أنه تم إطلاق مسابقة تحدي "التقط العلم" قبل خمس سنوات بهدف اكتشاف وصقل تلك المواهب وجعلها تأخذ مكانها الريادي للمشاركة في تعزيز حماية المشهد الأمني، كما أشاد سراج أيضاً بشراكة تريند مايكرو مع شركات مثل CyberTalents ، والتي بدورها تدعم نفس التوجهات وكذلك العديد من المبادرات مثل مبادرة "التقط العلم"، ، والتي تعتبر بمثابة منصة فعالة ساعدت بشكل كبير على سد فجوات المهارات الخاصة بمجال الأمن السيبراني .
وقد أقيمت المسابقة الرائدة عالمياً بالشراكة مع CyberTalents ، وهي شركة متخصصة في تقييم وتصنيف محترفي الأمن الإلكتروني في المنطقة، حيث شارك في هذا الحدث أكثر من 35 فريقًا يتألف من أكثر من 170 مشاركًاـ، خضع جميعهم إلى مجموعة من التحديات المختلفة مثل الهندسة العكسية؛ وأمن الانترنت ؛ والعلوم الجنائية الرقمية اضافة إلى أمن الشبكات وغيرها.
شهدت المسابقة تنافسا شديدا على المراكز الأولى، حيث حاز فريق "r3billiοns" على المركز الأول في المسابقة بتسجيله 600 نقطة، بينما حل فريق "easyHunt" في المركز الثاني برصيد 400 نقطة، فيما حصل فريق "0xDiablos" على المركز الثالث بنفس عدد النقاط مُسجلاً 400 نقطة أيضاً، علماً أن هذه الفرق الثلاث الأولى ستشارك في المسابقة الاقليمية على المستوى العربي ، والتي ستنطلق فعالياتها في العاصمة المصرية القاهرة من شهر سبتمبر الجاري، في حين سيحظى الفريق الفائز بالمسابقة الاقليمية بفرصة تمثيل العالم العربي خلال المسابقة العالمية والتي ستقام في شهر نوفمبر القادم بالعاصمة اليابانية طوكيو.
والجدير بالذكر، أن مسابقة تريند مايكرو السنوية قد وضعت في نسختها الخامسة تحدياً يشمل جميع المبتكرين حول العالم، ، حيث يكمُن التحدي في كيفية قدرتهم على العمل كفريق ينافس نظرائهم العالميين في ايجاد حلول حقيقية لمشكلات الأمن السيبراني المعقدة في الوقت الراهن.
