Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 31 January, 2019, (AETOSWire) – The Global Conference of Human Fraternity will convene prominent international religious, intellectual and media personalities, event organiser, the Muslim Council of Elders, today revealed. The Council is an Abu Dhabi-based independent international organisation chaired by His Eminence Dr Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif.

The event will run from 3 to 4 February at Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Aimed at consolidating the UAE’s status as a global centre of tolerance, the gathering will coincide with the historic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State and His Eminence Dr Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif, Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders to the country.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance, will open the conference proceedings. Headline speakers will include His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League, His Excellency Dr Yusuf bin Ahmed Al Uthaymeen, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, His Beatitude Cardinal Bechara Rai, Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Dr James Zogby, Founder and President of the Arab American Institute, His Beatitude Bishop Yulius, General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church, Reverend Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, and His Eminence Ali Al-Amin, Member of the Muslim Council of Elders. The event will draw the participation of leading intellectual and media personalities shaping the fabric of international human fraternity.

Dr Sultan Faisal Al Remeithi, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders, said: “Through hosting this constellation of eminent international speakers and participants spanning diverse faiths, we seek to uphold the values ​​of tolerance and love among mankind as the optimal tools to achieve peaceful coexistence.”

He added: “The conference will provide an ideal platform to reiterate the significance of tolerance and harmony in heralding a new era of human fraternity, mutual acceptance, moderation, and countering the culture of hatred that disrupts peace and security.”

The agenda will feature knowledge sessions focusing on a wide spectrum of themes related to human fraternity, aimed at stimulating discussions on promoting a culture of peace as an alternative to violence and conflicts based on ideological and ethnic differences. The event will reinforce citizenship as an overarching concept, recognised by all religions and human charters, that places the nation above all considerations while combating religious extremism that encourages isolation and hatred instead of peaceful coexistence and dialogue.

The conference will also examine ways to strengthen cooperation between East and West to achieve global peace, as well as the responsibility of international humanitarian organisations to maintain harmony and security. Its sessions will highlight the role of religious, educational, cultural and media organisations in raising awareness of the importance of human fraternity in society.

Furthermore, attendees will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing human fraternity, outlining a course of action to leverage human conscience and religious ethics to address the underlying causes of violence, such as selfishness, intolerance and hatred.

أبوظبي، الامارات العربية المتحدة، 31 يناير 2019، ("ايتوس واير"): أعلن مجلس حكماء المسلمين، الذي يرأسه فضيلة الإمام الأكبر، الشيخ الدكتور أحمد الطيب شيخ الأزهر الشريف، ويتخذ من أبوظبي مقرا لأمانته العامة، عن مشاركة كوكبة من المتحدثين من كبار القيادات الدينية والشخصيات الفكرية والإعلامية من مختلف دول العالم في الجلسات المزمع عقدها ضمن فعاليات "المؤتمر العالمي للأخوة الإنسانية"، الذي ينظم برعاية صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، ولي عهد أبوظبي، نائب القائد الأعلى للقوات المسلحة خلال الفترة ما بين الثالث والرابع من فبراير 2019.

وبحضور معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك آل نهيان، وزير التسامح في دولة الإمارات، تضم قائمة الحضور كل من معالي أحمد أبو الغيط، الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية؛ ومعالي الدكتور يوسف بن أحمد العثيمين، الأمين العام لمنظمة التعاون الإسلامي؛ ونيافة الكردينال مار بشارة بطرس الراعي، بطريرك الكنيسة المارونية في الجمهورية اللبنانية؛ والدكتور جيمس زغبي، رئيس المعهد العربي الأمريكي؛ ونيافة الأنبا يوليوس، أسقف عام بطريركية الأقباط الأرثوذكس؛ والقس أولاف فيكس تافيت، الأمين العام لمجلس الكنائس العالمي؛ وسماحة السيد علي الأمين، عضو مجلس حكماء المسلمين، إلى جانب العديد من القيادات والشخصيات الرائدة في المجالات الفكرية والإعلامية، التي تشكل النسيج العالمي للأخوة الإنسانية.

وبهذه المناسبة، قال د. سلطان فيصل الرميثي، الأمين العام لمجلس حكماء المسلمين: "نسعى من خلال استضافة هذه الكوكبة من المتحدثين والحضور من مختلف الأديان والأعراق إلى إعلاء قيم التسامح والمحبة بين البشر كونها السبيل لتحقيق مبدأ العيش المشترك من أجل الوصول إلى فضاءات الأخوة الإنسانية." 

وأضاف: "يتطلع المجتمعون في المؤتمر العالمي للأخوة الإنسانية إلى تحقيق أهداف واضحة تتمثل في التأكيد على خطاب التسامح والوئام، والتأسيس لمرحلة جديدة جوهرها الإخاء الإنساني وقبول الآخر وتبني الاعتدال، ومجابهة ثقافة الكراهية والأفكار التي تهدد السلم والأمان المنشودين."

وستتضمن أعمال المؤتمر جلسات علمية تسلط الضوء على منطلقات الأخوَّة الإنسانية، وتفتح النقاش بين المتحدثين والحضور حول إرساء ثقافة السلم بديلا للعنف والنزاعات العقائدية والعرقية، وترسيخ المواطنة بمفهومها الشمولي كما أقرتها الأديان والمواثيق الإنسانية، والتي تضع الأوطان فوق كل اعتبار، وكذلك مواجهة التطرف الديني، الذي يهدد الكثير من المجتمعات جراء انتشار فكر الإقصاء والانعزال بديلاً للتعايش والحوار. 

وسيناقش المؤتمر أيضا المسؤولية المشتركة لتحقيق الأخوة الإنسانية، وذلك من خلال تعزيز أواصر التعاون بين الشرق والغرب لتحقيق السلام العالمي المنشود، وتفعيل مسؤولية المنظمات الدولية والإنسانية في الحفاظ على الأمن والسلم الدوليين، وأيضاً تفعيل دور المؤسسات الدينية والتربوية والثقافية والإعلامية في تعزيز ثقافة الأخوة في المجتمع من خلال حملات التوعية.



ويبحث المجتمعون خلال جلسات المؤتمر التحديات والفرص التي تواجه الأخوة الإنسانية بمختلف أشكالها، والتي تعلي مسألة الضمير الإنساني والأخلاق الدينية وتتطرق إلى سبل محاربة نزعات الأنانية والاستحواذ والتعصب الديني وثقافة الكراهية وأثرها في إذكاء الصراعات والنزاعات.
