Nissan Unveils ‘See the Invisible’ Technology at Consumer Electronics Show 2019

Las Vegas, Jan. 11. 2018 – CES, Consumer Electronics Show, the annual event is one of the largest technology trade fairs where companies showcase their new technological and electronic innovations. The event covers a wide range of products, including TVs, virtual reality, mobile devices, cryptocurrency, smart homes, self-driving cars and new gaming consoles. The Nissan Display at the Las Vegas Convention Center has captured the world’s imagination this year.

Nissan was at the very forefront of CES with its latest “see the invisible” technology, showcasing an entirely new driving experience through Nissan Intelligent Mobility.

Invisible-to-Visible, or I2V, is a future technology as it supports drivers by merging information from sensors outside and inside the vehicle with data from the cloud. This enables the system not only to track the vehicle’s immediate surroundings but also to anticipate what is ahead – even showing what is behind a building or around the corner. To make driving more enjoyable, guidance is given in an interactive, human-like way.

During the three-day event, the Japanese manufacturer demonstrated the future of driving, and the electrifying potential of Nissan, the world-leading EVs manufacturer.

Nissan showcased the Nissan LEAF NISMO RC electric race car. It’s a car that shows off Nissan’s zero-emission technology and is the remarkable achievement of Nissan’s dedicated racing division, NISMO. The aggressively restyled RC has dual electric motors producing a combined output of 240 kW, equivalent to 322 horsepower, and 640 Nm (472 ft-Ibs.) of torque, delivered through all-wheel drive capability, and can hit speed of 62 mph in only 3.4 seconds.

Also a demonstration by Nissan Energy took place, presented ideas for creating a fully integrated electric-vehicle ecosystem. Nissan Energy is establishing new standards for energy systems with three key initiatives: Nissan Energy Supply, Nissan Energy Share, and Nissan Energy Storage. Vehicle batteries can be charged, but those same batteries can also provide power to homes and businesses and feed any excess energy into a wider power grid for others.

During the CES, Nissan showcased its newest electric vehicle “Nissan LEAF e+”, boasting an even higher energy-density battery pack than the predecessor. The new LEAF e+ powertrain increases the car range by approximately 40 percent and comes equipped with ProPILOT semi-autonomous driving system and e-Pedal mode for one-pedal driving.

The LEAF embodies Nissan Intelligent Mobility and is the company’s vision for how cars can be powered, driven, and integrated into society. It’s a future about driving smarter and safer, while still being exciting and offering a thrilling ride. During the Show, Nissan’s interactive 3D-immersion I2V experience was powered by energy from a LEAF.

About Nissan Intelligent Mobility strategy, Nissan Motor Egypt Chairman and Managing Director, Kohei Maeda, said that Nissan aims to make driving more enjoyable “We are introducing cutting-edge products under the framework of our vision, ‘Nissan Intelligent Mobility’ which directs key areas of innovation that transforms how our cars are powered, driven, and connected into society. Pro-pilot is the good example”.

Maeda added "Such strategies enable cars to interact with the surrounding environment, not just other cars, but also people and the roads, buildings, and wider traffic infrastructure, which will lead to fewer traffic jams, improved energy management, and further raising the efficiency of the vehicles”.

"See the Invisible"
