Beirut, 1 November 2018: Huawei’s latest 5G equipment has enabled touch, the leading mobile telecommunications and data operator in Lebanon, to perform the first commercial 5G trial in in the nation. At an event held under the auspices of the Prime Minister Designate Saad Hariri, represented by the Caretaker Minister of Telecommunication Jamal Jarrah, touch and Huawei gave a sneak peek of the 5G experience that customers will enjoy once the technology is fully deployed in Lebanon. This is the latest in Huawei’s commitment to bring digital to every person, home, and organization for a fully connected and intelligent world.
The trial was conducted at the Grand Serail in Beirut in the presence of ministers, ambassadors, academics and economy experts. It was conducted over C-band frequencies, the same that commercial 5G services will use in the coming years. Globally, Huawei was the first to unveil a full range of end-to-end (E2E) 3GPP-compliant 5G product solutions, covering the core network, the bearer network, base station, and terminals, and the world’s first 5G chipset.
Caretaker Minister of Telecommunication Jamal Jarrah addressed the audience at the Grand Serail and said, “At the Ministry of Telecommunications, we are determined to modernize the existing infrastructure to accommodate the latest technology advancements. So we began to deploy fiber optics across Lebanon, to benefit the Lebanese citizens with modern technology, in addition to expanding mobile networks to keep up with developments.”
Commenting on the successful 5G trial, touch Chief Executive Officer Emre Gurkan said, "This is a momentous milestone for touch given our stated goal to innovate for the betterment of the customers we serve, and to improve the quality of life for all in Lebanon. This trial with Huawei gives a fantastic preview of the truly awesome power this technology possesses and the incredible services and applications it will drive."
As the government of Lebanon continues to champion technology adoption with the aim of digitally and electronically transforming Lebanon and creating Smart Cities, Huawei’s implementation of 5G capabilities will foster a digital ecosystem in the Middle East that will drive forward this digital transformation.
Commercial deployment of 5G networks in Lebanon is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economic activity, creating thousands of new jobs including cybersecurity professionals, network technicians, and engineers.

بيروت، 1 تشرين الأول 2018: أتاحت تجهيزات "هواوي" المتطورة والقائمة على تقنيات الجيل الخامس (5G) الفرصة أمام "تاتش"، شركة الإتصالات اوالبيانات المتنقلة الأولى في لبنان بإدارة مجموعة زين، لاختبار أول عملية تجارية لشبكات الجيل الخامس (5G) في البلاد. وكانت "هواوي" و"تاتش" قدمتا خلال الفعالية التي أُطلقت برعاية دولة رئيس الوزراء المكلّف سعد الحريري، ممثلاً بمعالي وزير الإتصالات جمال جراح، أول عرض تجاري عن تجربة الجيل الخامس (5G) التي ستُقدم للعملاء فور تنفيذ شبكات الجيل الخامس بالكامل في لبنان. وتمثل هذه التجربة التزام "هواوي" بوضع التقنيات الرقمية في متناول كل شخص ومنزل ومؤسسة بهدف بناء عالم أكثر ذكاءً وتواصلاً.
أجري اختبار شبكات الجيل الخامس (5G) في السراي الكبير من خلال تردد الـC-band التي ستُستخدم لتقديم الخدمات التجارية للجيل الخامس خلال السنوات القادمة، بحضور عدد من الوزراء والسفراء والشخصيات الأكاديمية وخبراء الاقتصاد. يُشار إلى أن "هواوي" كانت من الشركات العالمية السبّاقة في طرح مجموعة متكاملة وشاملة من حلول ومنتجات الجيل الخامس المتوافقة مع مشروع شراكة الجيل الثالث (3GPP) والتي تغطي الشبكة الأساسية وحامل الشبكة والمحطة الأساسية والأجهزة الداعمة للجيل الخامس الأولى من نوعها في العالم.
وقد ألقى معالي الوزير جمال جراح، كلمة أمام الحاضرين في السراي الكبير، قال فيها: "نبذل في وزارة الاتصالات قصارى جهودنا لتحديث البنى التحتية الحالية وتجهيزها لمواكبة أحدث التطورات التقنية. وهذا ما شجعنا على المضي قدماً في نشر الألياف البصرية Fiber optics في لبنان بهدف وضع أحدث التقنيات المتطورة والشبكات ذات النطاق العريض في متناول الشعب اللبناني وتوسيع نطاق انتشار الشبكات والتقنيات المتنقلة بما يمكننا من مواكبة أحدث التطورات في قطاع الاتصالات".
أما الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة تاتش ايمري غوركان فكانت له كلمة قال فيها: "إنها بلا شك لحظة تاريخية ومحطة أساسية من أهدافنا المعلنة لمواصلة الإبتكار بغية تحسين خدمة العملاء لدينا، وتطوير نوعية الخدمات للجميع في لبنان. يعطي هذا الاختبار نبذة حقيقية عن الإمكانيات الهائلة التي توفرها تكنولوجيا الجيل الخامس والخدمات والتطبيقات المذهلة المنبثقة عنها."
وبينما تواصل الحكومة اللبنانية مواكبة أحدث التقنيات سعياً منها لإحداث نقلة نوعية في البلاد على الصعيدين الرقمي والإلكتروني وبناء المدن الذكية، يتوقع أن تسهم "هواوي" بفضل ما تمتلكه من إمكانات متفوقة في مجال تقنيات شبكات الجيل الخامس في بناء النظام الإيكولوجي الشامل والرقمي الذي يدفع عجلة التحوّل الرقمي في لبنان ومنطقة الشرق الأوسط عموماً.
ومن المتوقع أن يساهم الانتشار التجاري لشبكات الجيل الخامس في لبنان بدور بالغ الأهمية في تعزيز الحركة الاقتصادية في البلاد وتوفير آلاف فرص العمل مثل خبراء الأمن الإلكتروني وفنيي الشبكات والمهندسين.
بدوره، قال آن جيان، رئيس مجموعة أعمال "هواوي كارير" لشبكات الاتصالات في الشرق الأوسط: "نلتزم في ‘هواوي’ بوضع أحدث الحلول العالمية المبتكرة في خدمة منطقة الشرق الأوسط. ويسرنا أن نقدم اليوم في لبنان من خلال تعاوننا الاستراتيجي مع شركة ‘تاتش’ مثالاً آخر يُحتذى به للطريقة التي نتعاون بها مع شركائنا المحليين لتوفير حلول ‘هواوي’ المبتكرة والمصممة خصيصاً لتلبية المتطلبات المحلية وتعزيز كفاءة أعمال وأرباح الشركات في لبنان".
وسيوفر أول موقع لتقنيات الجيل الخامس في لبنان الركيزة الأساسية التي يقوم عليها النظام الإيكولوجي الشامل والرقمي في البلاد بهدف إحداث تغيير جذري من شأنه أن يدفع عجلة الإبتكار ويمكّن الشركات الرائدة من توفير خدمات عصرية متطورة.
