Schneider Electric partners up with Revolta to boost EV charging infrastructure to encourage drivers to switch to electric cars: Sherif Abdel Fattah
Schneider aims to offer new innovative solutions to meet rising demand for energy saving technologies and help reduce fuel consumption
Cairo- September 26, 2018– Global energy management specialist Schneider Electric is showcasing its range of electric vehicle (EV) charging products during this month’s Automech Formula 2018, the largest auto show in Egypt and the Middle East.
Schneider Electric is taking part in the five-day event that starts on September 26 at Egypt International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo among more than 40 global brands.
Schneider Electric is displaying its EVlink electric vehicle charging range of shared usage and on-street solutions, as well as the EVlink Fast Charger which allows electric car users to charge 80 percent of the battery in less than 30 minutes.
Schneider Electric has partnered up with the Egyptian company, Revolta, which plans to build 65 charging sites across seven Egyptian governorates by the end of 2018. The drive is aimed at boosting local charging infrastructure that would encourage drivers to switch to electric cars and promote mainstream acceptance of this type of vehicle. The roll-out of infrastructure is planned to include service stations, shopping malls, restaurants, sporting clubs, cinemas and universities.
The first of these charging sites on the Cairo-Suez road was officially opened in February to be Egypt’s first EV charging station.
"We aim to offer new innovative solutions to meet rising demand for energy saving technologies across various sectors," said Sherif Abdel Fattah, Schneider Electric's Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors.
"The electric car industry is one of the most promising sectors across the world and we are currently contributing to launch electric vehicle charging infrastructure in a number of Egyptian governorates in partnership with Revolta as a first step to support the shift towards electric vehicles and help reduce fuel consumption," he added.
This comes amid a dynamic market uptake of electric vehicles in recent years as governments and automakers worldwide seek increased deployment of electric cars to limit climate change by getting more carbon-burning vehicles off the road.
"By providing EVLink electric vehicle charging solutions in Egypt, we aim to keep pace with global technologies in the industry, while enhancing technical skills of Egyptian technicians to be able use vehicle charging solutions," said Saif El Demerdash, Retail Director at Schneider Electric Egypt and North East Africa.
The number of electric vehicles on roads worldwide rose to a record high of 3.1 million in 2017, a 57 percent rise compared with 2016, according to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA). These include battery-electric, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell electric passenger light-duty vehicles.
Other reports expect that there will be 530 million EVs on the road by 2040.
During the event, Revolta will be showcasing three of its premium battery-powered Tesla cars which will be charged using Schneider Electric chargers. Revolta will be the country's first provider of electrical vehicles.

القاهرة، 26 سبتمبر 2018- تشارك شركة شنايدر إليكتريك، الرائدة عالميا في إدارة الطاقة والتحكم الآلي، في فاعليات معرض القاهرة الدولي للسيارات "أوتوماك فورميلا" خلال الفترة من 26 وحتى 30 سبتمبر 2018، وذلك من خلال عرض مجموعة متنوعة من حلولها لشحن السيارات الكهربائية في مصر.
وتقدم شنايدر إليكتريك مجموعة شواحن للسيارات الكهربائية EVlink، بالإضافة إلى الشواحن السريعة التي تسمح لمستخدمي السيارات الكهربائية بشحن 80 بالمائة من البطارية في أقل من 30 دقيقة.
وتنفذ شركة شنايدر إليكتريك حاليا مشروع البنية التحتية لشحن السيارات في مصر، بالتعاون مع شركة "ريفولتا" لتسويق تكنولوجيا السيارات الكهربائية، لبناء 65 موقع شحن في سبع محافظات بحلول نهاية عام 2018. ويهدف هذا التعاون إلى تعزيز البنية التحتية لمواقع شحن السيارات الكهربائية في جميع أنحاء الجمهورية من أجل تشجيع استخدام السيارات الكهربائية والترويج لهذا النوع من المركبات. ومن المخطط أن تشمل خطة التوسع في البنية التحتية لمحطات الشحن محطات الوقود ومراكز التسوق والمطاعم والنوادي الرياضية ودور السينما والجامعات. وقد تم افتتاح أول موقع لشحن السيارات الكهربائية على طريق القاهرة - السويس رسميا في فبراير الماضي لتكون المحطة الأولي من نوعها في مصر.
وتعليقا على مشاركة شنايدر إليكتريك في فعاليات "أوتوماك فورميلا 2018"، صرح المهندس/ شريف عبد الفتاح، عضو مجلس الإدارة ونائب رئيس شنايدر إليكتريك مصر وشمال شرق أفريقيا والمشرق العربي للشئون الحكومية والطاقة المتجددة ، قائلا: "نسعى إلى تقديم حلولا جديدة ومبتكرة لخدمة كافة العملاء في ظل تزايد الطلب على كفاءة استخدام الطاقة في مختلف القطاعات، ويعد قطاع السيارات الكهربائية من القطاعات الواعدة على المستوى العالمي، ولذا نساهم حاليا في تدشين البنية التحتية لشحن السيارات الكهربائية في عدد من المحافظات المصرية بالتعاون مع شركة ريفولتا، كخطوة أولى لدعم التحول نحو اقتناء السيارات الكهربائية وتقليل استهلاك الوقود".
يأتي ذلك في إطار الاتجاه العالمي لزيادة الاعتماد على السيارات الكهربائية في السنوات الأخيرة، حيث تسعى الحكومات وشركات السيارات في جميع أنحاء العالم لزيادة أعداد السيارات الكهربائية للحد من تغير المناخ من خلال تقليل عدد السيارات التي تعمل بالوقود للحد من انبعاثات الكربون.
وقال المهندس/ سيف الدمرداش، مدير إدارة المنتجات السكنية فى شركة شنايدر إليكتريك مصر وشمال شرق افريقيا، "نوفر حلول شحن السيارات الكهربائية EVlink في السوق المصري، لنواكب الأسواق العالمية في هذا المجال، وفى الوقت نفسه سنساهم في توفير كوادر فنية مدربة للتعامل مع تكنولوجيا شحن السيارات في مصر".
ووفقا لتقرير صادر عن وكالة الطاقة الدولية (IEA)، فقد ارتفع عدد السيارات الكهربائية في جميع أنحاء العالم إلى مستوى قياسي بلغ 3.1 مليون في عام 2017، بزيادة قدرها 57% مقارنة بعام 2016، بينما تتوقع تقارير أخرى أن يصل عدد السيارات الكهربائية إلى 530 مليون سيارة بحلول عام 2040.
وستقوم شركة "ريفولتا"، وهي أول شركة تقوم بتسويق السيارات الكهربائية في مصر، خلال المعرض بعرض ثلاثة سيارات "تسلا" التي تعمل بالبطاريات ويتم شحنها باستخدام شواحن شركة شنايدر إليكتريك.
