Joint venture created by Groupe PSA and Nidec starts the design of future electric motors
Groupe PSA, the second largest car manufacturer in Europe has announced a joint venture with Nidec, the leading comprehensive motor manufacturer, to create “Nidec-PSA emotors”. Carlos Tavares, Chief Executive Officer of Groupe PSA and MM Shigenobu Nagamori, Chief Executive Officer of Nidec, endorsed today the establishment of the new project dedicated to the design, development, manufacture and sale of electric traction motors.
As an anticipation of energy transition towards a cleaner mobility, electrification seems to be the key to environmental issues with a well to wheel approach. OEMs, hence, are accelerating their shift towards electrified vehicle technologies. Along with this trend, electrification of automobiles has been expanding and the market of electric motor for automotive is foreseen to double its size. Nidec is renowned to be active in this trend developing products with its superior motor expertise.
Forty engineers have already been recruited and joined the JV headquarters in Carrières sous Poissy, near Paris. By end of summer, thirty more engineers are expected to join this site where a dedicated R&D area has been dedicated. They will design new traction electric motors to be produced in Tremery plant in France, and integrated in Mild-hybrid (“MHEV”), Electric Vehicles (“EV”) and Plug-in Hybrid (“PHEV”) vehicles.
With a strategic importance of high-performance traction motor for electrified vehicles, Groupe PSA and Nidec will invest 220 million Euros to set-up this JV. This will support the electrification push, as 100% of Groupe PSA vehicle range will include an electrified offering by 2025, especially that electric vehicles are projected to make up 16 percent of all car sales by then.
When it comes to the Gulf region, government bodies in some countries such as the UAE have already started paving the way to the acquisition of zero-carbon electric cars by launching new incentives that make the transition from fossil-fuel powered cars to electric easier including green bank loans, green insurance plans, attractive EV car prices and green registration of vehicles. Other government programs call for up to 10% of car fleets of federal ministries and agencies to be electric vehicles. Groupe PSA is hot-weather testing its electric range for the region and is expected to be on the road by 2020.

كشفت "Groupe PSA"، ثاني أكبر مصنّع للسيارات في أوروبا، أن مشروع “Nidec-PSA emotors” بالشراكة مع "Nidec"، الشركة الرائدة في صناعة محركات السيارات بالكامل سوف يبصر النور قريباً. ويهدف هذا المشروع المشترك الذي أبرمه أخيراً، كل من كارلوس تافاريس الرئيس التنفيذي لـ"Groupe PSA" و شيجنوبو ناغاموري الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "Nidec"، إلى تصميم المحركات الكهربائية وتطويرها وتصنيعها وبيعها.
وبما أنه من المرتقب التحول إلى استخدام الطاقة في قطاع النقل لكي يكون أكثر نظافة، فإن المحركات الكهربائية تبدو أنها سوف تكون المفتاح الرئيس لمعالجة القضايا البيئية من خلال اتباع نهج عملي يسهم في ذلك. وبالتالي، فإن مصنّعي الأدوات الأصلية (OEM) يسرّعون من تحوّلهم إلى تقنيات المركبات التي تعمل بالكهرباء. وبالإضافة إلى هذا المسار، فإن تحويل المركبات إلى كهربائية أخذٌ في التوسع، إذ أنه من المتوقع أن يتضاعف حجم سوق المحركات الكهربائية. وكما هو معلوم، فإن "Nidec" تمتلك باعاً طويلاً في هذا المجال يمكنّها من تفعيل هذا المسار وتطوير هذا النوع من المنتجات نظراً لما تختزنه من خبرات متفوّقة في عالم المحركات.
وقد تم بالفعل تعين 40 مهندساً انضموا إلى المقرّ الرئيس للمشروع المشترك في كاريير سو بواسي بالقرب من باريس. وبحلول نهاية هذا الصيف، فإنه من المتوقع إن ينضم إليهم 30 مهندساً في هذا الموقع الذي تم تخصيص منطقة له مخصصة للبحث والتطوير. وسوف يقوم هؤلاء المهندسين بتصميم محركات كهربائية سوف يتم إنتاجها في مصنع تريميري في فرنسا، وهي سوف تتكامل مع المركبات الكهربائية التي تعتمد على منظومة دفع هجين متوسط (MHEV) ومركبات كهربائية هجينة قابلة للشحن (PHEV).
ونظراً للأهمية الاستراتيجية للمحركات ذات الأداء العالي في السيارات الكهربائية، فإن "Groupe PSA" و"Nidec" سوف تستثمران 220 مليون يورو لإنشاء هذا المشروع المشترك. وهذا الأمر سوف يعزز الجهود الرامية للاعتماد على المحركات الكهربائية، حيث أن مجموعة سيارات "Groupe PSA" سوف تتضمن محركات كهربائية بنسبة 100% بحلول العام 2025، وخصوصاً أن السيارات الكهربائية سوف تشكل 16% من إجمالي مبيعات السيارات بحلول ذلك الموعد.
أما فيما يتعلق بمنطقة الخليج، فإن الهيئات الحكومية في بعض الدول مثل الإمارات العربية المتحدة قد بدأت بالفعل تمهيد الطريق أمام اقتناء سيارات كهربائية خالية من الكربون من خلال إطلاق حوافز جديدة تجعل التحول من السيارات التي تسير بالوقود إلى تلك التي تعمل بالكهرباء مسألة أسهل، بما في ذلك منح "القروض المصرفية الخضراء" و"خطط التأمين الخضراء"، إضافة إلى إتاحة السيارات الكهربائية بأسعار متهاودة و"التسجيل الأخضر للسيارات". وتدعو برامج حكومية أخرى، إلى جعل ما يصل إلى 10% من السيارات التابعة للوزارات والهيئات الحكومية كهربائية. وتقوم " Groupe PSA" بالاختبارات الخاصة بالطقس الحار على مجموعة سياراتها الكهربائية للمنطقة ، في حين أنه من المتوقع أن تجوب الطرقات بحلول العام 2020.
