MAGDY YACOUB TO INAUGURATE ANNUAL RESEARCH AND CREATIVITY CONVENTION AT AUC




WHAT

The American University in Cairo (AUC) is organizing the Research and Creativity Convention Week (RCC), celebrating excellence in University research, entrepreneurship and creative achievement. The event aims to celebrate faculty, graduate and undergraduate research as well as creative achievements in all fields at AUC. It will bring together diverse research, design, entrepreneurship, innovation and creative activities that have demonstrated growth and success over the years.

The Research and Creativity Convention will include experts and presenters from academia. The opening ceremony speaker is Sir Magdy Yacoub, cardiothoracic surgeon and founder of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, who will be discussing Creativity: An Illusive Target. The keynote speaker is Khaled Habib, a broadcaster and business professional. The closing ceremony will include a panel titled “celebrating failure.” Panelists are: Amr Shaarawi, professor of physics and chair of the University Senate; Alaa-Eldin Adris, associate provost for research, innovation and creativity and Hoda Mostafa, director of Center for Learning and Teaching.

Two competitions will be held during the convention, the interdisciplinary grant with an award up to the equivalent of $ 2000, and the award for the disciplines awarding the equivalent of $25,000 to the winning department or degree.
