New AED 1.4 billion project will bring to the capital an integrated shopping, lifestyle and entertainment destination
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, October 31, 2017: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the UAE, President of Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club and Vice Chairman of the Honorary Authority, Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club and Majid Al Futtaim - the Middle East, Africa and Asia’s leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer- officially broke ground today of City Centre Al Jazira, the new AED 1.4 billion lifestyle destination coming to Abu Dhabi. The new project will bring to the capital an integrated shopping, lifestyle and entertainment destination, contributing to Abu Dhabi’s vision that aims to develop a competitive, sustainable and globally open economy.
The official groundbreaking ceremony gathered HE Saeed Mohamed Bin Butti Al Qebaisi, Chairman of Al Jazira Investment, Mohammed Haji Khouri, Vice-Chairman of Al Jazira Investment and the Chairman of City Centre Al Jazira and members of Al Jazira Investment board with senior representatives of Majid Al Futtaim, Alain Bejjani, Chief Executive Officer at Majid Al Futtaim – Holding, Robert Welanetz, Chief Executive Officer, Majid Al Futtaim - Properties, Ghaith Shocair, Chief Executive Officer, Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, and senior representative of Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club, Mohammed Haji Khouri, Vice-Chairman of Al Jazira Investment at Al Jazira Sports and Cultural Club and Chairman of the joint venture.
Strategically located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, between Airport Road and Al Muroor Road, City Centre Al Jazira will showcase beautiful architecture and design and will include 153 retail stores, a Carrefour Hypermarket, a Magic Planet family entertainment destination, a fitness centre, as well as indoor and alfresco dining choices. Total leasable area is expected to be 80,500 sqm within a built-up area of 215,000 sqm.

“City Centre Al Jazira will be Majid Al Futtaim’s first super-regional mall in the capital. The UAE capital is enjoying prolific developments with its residential market, world-class infrastructure development projects from transportation, to museums and healthcare, which is positioning Abu Dhabi as a key market for us” added Shocair.
Construction of City Centre Al Jazira is on track and forging ahead, with contractor appointed to deliver the enabling works which are starting this month. The new super-regional mall is scheduled to open its doors in early 2021.
City Centre Al Jazira is Majid Al Futtaim’s latest indications of investment into Abu Dhabi’s shopping and entertainment landscape, underscoring the company’s leadership in the country’s retail and leisure sector. The project is part of Majid Al Futtaim’s announcement made in June 2016 to increase its total investment in the UAE by AED 30 billion by 2026, taking its total investment in the country to AED 48 billion.
In addition to City Centre Al Jazira, which is Majid Al Futtaim’s first City Centre mall in the capital, the company recently announced the up-coming My City Centre Masdar, set to open by 2019 in the capital. The projects reiterate Majid Al Futtaim’s leadership in the UAE’s retail and entertainment landscape, contributing to the growth of the country’s economy.

أبوظبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 31 أكتوبر 2017: برعاية سمو الشيخ منصور بن زايد آل نهيان نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير شؤون الرئاسة رئيس نادي الجزيرة الرياضي الثقافي، نائب رئيس هيئة الشرف .. أطلق اليوم رسمياً «نادي الجزيرة الرياضي الثقافي» و «ماجد الفطيم»، الشركة الرائدة في مجال تطوير وإدارة مراكز التسوق والمدن المتكاملة ومنشآت التجزئة والترفيه على مستوى الشرق الأوسط وأفريقيا وآسيا، أعمالَ تشييد «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة»، وُجهة الحياة العصرية المتكاملة بالعاصمة الإماراتية، باستثمار قدره 1.4 مليار درهم. ويثمر المشروع الجديد عن وُجهة متكاملة للتسوق والحياة العصرية والترفيه في قلب العاصمة الإماراتية بما يسهم في تحقيق رؤية أبوظبي الطموحة الرامية إلى إرساء دعائم اقتصاد متين ومنافس ومستدام ومفتوح على العالم.
وشهد المراسمَ الرسمية لبدء أعمال تشييد «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة» سعادة سعيد محمد بن بطي القبيسي، رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة «الجزيرة للاستثمار»، وسعادة محمد حاجي الخوري، نائب رئيس «شركة الجزيرة للاستثمار» ورئيس مجلس إدارة «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة» وأعضاء مجلس إدارة شركة الجزيرة للاستثمار. كما حضر عددٌ من كبار الشخصيات إلى جانب كبار التنفيذيين في «ماجد الفطيم» وهم: آلان بجاني، الرئيس التنفيذي لدى «ماجد الفطيم القابضة»؛ وروبرت ويلانيتكس، الرئيس التنفيذي لدى «ماجد الفطيم العقارية»؛ وغيث شقير، الرئيس التنفيذي، مراكز التسوق، لدى «ماجد الفطيم العقارية».
ويُشيّد «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة» في موقع متميز بين شارع المطار وشارع المرور في قلب العاصمة الإماراتية، وستُختار له تصاميم معمارية أخاذة وتصاميم داخلية عصرية، وسيحتضن «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة» 153 متجراً متنوعاً، ومن أبرز خيارات التسوق والترفيه المتاحة لمرتاديه هايبرماركت «كارفور»، و«ﭬوكس سينما» ومركز الترفيه العائلي «ماجيك بلانيت»، إلى جانب مركز للياقة البدنية وخيارات المطاعم والكافيهات الداخلية وأخرى في الهواء الطلق. ومن المتوقع أن تبلغ المساحة الإجمالية القابلة للتأجير في «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة» 80.500 متر مربع ضمن مساحة مبنية قدرها 215.000 متر مربع.
وبهذه المناسبة، قال سعيد محمد بن بطي القبيسي، رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة « الجزيرة للاستثمار»، الجهة الاستثمارية لجميع أصول نادي الجزيرة الرياضي الثقافي: "أن نادي الجزيرة الرياضي الثقافي اسم عريق ومرموق، ونحن نؤمن في تمكين مجتمعنا والنهوض به وسعداء بهذه الشراكة مع "ماجد الفطيم" لما تتيحه لنا من فرصة للاضطلاع بدور بارز في تشييد وُجهة جديدة للحياة المعاصرة في قلب العاصمة أبوظبي".
فيما أضاف محمد حاجي الخوري، نائب رئيس «شركة الجزيرة للاستثمار» ورئيس ورئيس مجلس إدارة «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة»: "إن نادي الجزيرة الرياضي الثقافي هو أحد أبرز الأسماء اللامعة والمعروفة بالعاصمة الإماراتية، وله شعبية واسعة بين الشبان والنشء. ونحن سعداء بهذه الشراكة، كمستثمرين وشركاء استراتيجيين، مع ماجد الفطيم لتشييد سيتي سنتر الجزيرة، وواثقون بأن وجهة الحياة العصرية الجديدة ستوفر لمرتاديها من القاطنين في أبوظبي وزوارها تجربة متكاملة لا مثيل لها".
وفي السياق نفسه، قال غيث شقير، الرئيس التنفيذي، مراكز التسوق لدى «ماجد الفطيم العقارية»:
"نحن سعداء للغاية بهذه الشراكة مع اسم عريق و مرموق كنادي الجزيرة الرياضي الثقافي لبناء أول مركز تسوق يحمل علامة "سيتي سنتر" بالعاصمة الإماراتية، حيث نأمل ان نحقق معًا رؤية ماجد الفطيم المتمثلة في توفير أسعد اللحظات لكل الناس كل يوم".
وتابع شقير قائلاً: "سيتي سنتر الجزيرة هو أول مركز تسوق بهذا الحجم تشيّده ماجد الفطيم بالعاصمة الإماراتية أبوظبي. وتشهد العاصمة مشروعات عمرانية عملاقة، إلى جانب مشروعات البنية التحتية التي تجعلها في مصافّ أهم مدن العالم، ومنها مشروعات المواصلات والمتاحف والرعاية الصحية وغيرها الكثير، ما يجعل العاصمة الإماراتية أحد أهم أسواقنا في المرحلة المقبلة".
ومن المتوقع أن يستقبل المركز التجاري زواره في مطلع عام 2021. ويُعدُّ «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة» أحدث شراكة استثمارية تعلن عنها «ماجد الفطيم» في قطاع التجزئة والترفيه بالعاصمة الإماراتية، وتوطد الشراكة الجديدة ريادتها في قطاع التجزئة والترفيه، إماراتياً وإقليمياً. وكانت «ماجد الفطيم» قد أعلنت في يونيو 2016 عن استراتيجية طموحة تشمل زيادة استثماراتها بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة بـ 30 مليار درهم بحلول العام 2026 لتبلغ 48 مليار درهم.
وبالإضافة إلى «سيتي سنتر الجزيرة»، وهو أول مركز تسوق يحمل علامة «سيتي سنتر» بالعاصمة الإماراتية، أعلنت «ماجد الفطيم» مؤخراً عن تشييد مراكز تسوق جديدة تشمل «ماي سيتي سنتر مصدر»، وهو أيضاً بالعاصمة الإماراتية ومن المتوقع افتتاحه بحلول 2019. ويوطد هذان المشروعان في أبوظبي، وغيرهما من المشاريع قيد التنفيذ في أنحاء الدولة، صدارة
