Farnek first GCC corporate to add Renault’s electric car to fleet

UAE-based total FM company first to bring Renault ZOE into transport fleet; company initially looking to save over 17,000 kilos of carbon emissions over 12 months

UAE-based sustainability leader and total FM company Farnek, has bought its first electric car from Renault as it continues to strive for a more sustainable way of operating its business, especially its growing transportation fleet, currently comprising over 200 vehicles.

Renault’s ZOE electric model will help Farnek to reduce its carbon footprint by saving 17 tonnes (78%) of carbon emissions annually, compared with any of the existing saloon cars in its fleet, that travel approximately 72,000 kilometres per year.

In Europe, Renault is a leader in the field of electric mobility with one out of every four EVs sold being a Renault. Globally, one out of every two EV models sold comes out of a Renault-Nissan Alliance factory. Renault is also the only car manufacturer to offer a full range of electric vehicles, with the Twizy (quadricyle), ZOE (hatch), Fluence (sedan) and Kangoo (Utility Van).                       

“It is part of our strategy to have a more energy efficient fleet in line with the UAE government’s recommendation to ensure that 10% of our transportation fleet is electric by 2030. We also wanted to show leadership within the FM sector and inspire other organisations to do the same,” said Markus Oberlin, CEO, Farnek.

It is easy to understand why Farnek chose the ZOE model. ZOE, the flagship of Renault’s Z.E. (Zero Emissions in use) vehicle range, is an all-electric, multi-award winning, five-door supermini. With the new Z.E.40 battery, ZOE’s range is 400 KM (NEDC) – Renault estimates that in real-world driving conditions this equates to around 300 km. ZOE can charge from zero to 80 per cent full in as little as 60 minutes thanks to its patented Chameleon Charger™ that allows it to make the most of the widest range of power supplies and also keep charging times to a minimum. Renault’s Range OptimiZer technology ensures ZOE is highly efficient with its heat pump, a bi-modal braking system and Michelin ENERGY E-V tyres all as standard.

Commenting on recent order from Farnek, Marwan Haidamous, Managing Director, Renault Middle East said, “This is a key milestone in the story of electric vehicles in the region. Farnek was the first organisation in the GCC to introduce carbon neutral buses in 2010, for which Farnek now offsets 88 tonnes of carbon emissions every year at a cost of almost $3,000 annually. Over the past two years the company has also reduced the amount of carbon emissions per employee transported by almost half (44%) reaching 118 kilos for each member of staff transported.

This latest move by Farnek will strengthen its sustainable credentials further still. Through its dedicated consultancy division, Farnek has always pushed industry boundaries. Most recently it was officially accredited as an approved Energy Services Company (ESCO) by Dubai’s Regulatory Supervisory Bureau (RSB).

The scheme was set up to give building owners, developers and managers added confidence when contracting ESCOs. Now they can be secure in the knowledge that the accredited companies have the necessary qualified management and staff and are on a sound financial footing. And in addition, specific to Farnek’s case, a successful track record of consulting on many energy saving projects throughout Dubai and the wider UAE.

“The decision to approve Farnek was made by an accreditation board which assessed us according to set criteria, such as experience, capabilities, financial strength, HSE and equipment. We want to help create and support, more cost-effective buildings and a healthier environment,” commented Sandrine Le Biavant, Director of Consultancy, Farnek.

أعلنت شركة "فارنك" المتخصصة بقطاع إدارة المرافق في الإمارات العربية المتحدة والرائدة في مجال الاستدامة، عن شراء أول سيارة كهربائية من شركة "رينو" وذلك في إطار جهودها لتعزيز استدامة عملياتها التشغيلية وزيادة حجم أسطول النقل المتنامي لديها والذي يضم حالياً أكثر من 200 سيارة.

وستساهم إضافة سيارة "رينو زوي" (ZOE) الكهربائية في تقليل حجم الانبعاثات الكربونية بحوالي 17 طناً وذلك ما يمثل نسبة (78٪) من الانبعاثات الكربونية سنوياً مقارنة بأي سيارة من سيارات الصالون الموجودة في أسطولها حالياً والتي تسير بمعدل 72,000 كم سنوياً.

وتتميز شركة رينو بريادتها في مجال تطوير السيارات الكهربائية، حيث تستحوذ على حوالي ربع حجم السوق في أوروبا، كما يستحوذ تحالف رينو-نيسان على حوالي نصف السوق العالمي. وتعتبر "رينو" أيضاً الشركة الوحيدة في قطاع تصنيع السيارات التي يوجد لديها مجموعة كاملة من السيارات الكهربائية وهي: "تويزي" و"زوي" و"فلوينس" و"كانغو".

وتتميز سيارة "رينو زوي" الكهربائية ذات الخمس أبواب بأنها عديمة الانبعاثات وقد حازت على العديد من الجوائز العالمية. وتتضمن هذه السيارة بطارية Z.E.40 الجديدة تتيح لها إمكانية السير لمدة 400 كم، ويمكن شحنها من الصفر إلى 80 بالمئة خلال أقل من 60 دقيقة بفضل تقنية "كاميليون تشارجر" (Chameleon Charger™) الحاصلة على براءة اختراع التي تتيح إمكانية تحقيق الاستفادة القصوى من إمدادات الطاقة وتقليل وقت الشحن إلى الحد الأدنى. كما تساهم تقنية "رينج أوبتيميزر"
(Range OptimiZer) في ضمان مستويات عالية من كفاءة الأداء بفضل مضخة الحرارة ونظام المكابح المزدوج وإطارات ميشلان إنيرجي E-V والتي تأتي جميعها كمواصفات قياسية.

ومن جانبه قال مروان هيدموس، مدير عام رينو الشرق الأوسط: "تمثل هذه الخطوة قفزة نوعية في مجال استخدام السيارات الكهربائية في المنطقة التي تشهد زيادة ملحوظة من حيث اعتماد السيارات الكهربائية في أساطيل النقل بهدف تقليل آثار الانبعاثات الكربونية، ويسرنا أن تساهم سياراتنا بلعب دور محوري في هذا المجال".

وأضاف قائلاً: "تمثل سيارة زوي دلالة واضحة على التزام شركة رينو بتطوير تقنيات السيارات الكهربائية وحرصها على توفير أفضل الخيارات للسائقين من خلال إطلاق سيارة كهربائية أنيقة ومريحة وعملية بأسعار في متناول الجميع".

وكانت "فارنك" أول مؤسسة في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي تقوم بإدخال حافلات محايدة الكربون في العام
2010، حيث تساهم الآن بإزاحة 88 طن من الانبعاثات الكربونية سنوياً بتكلفة تقارب 3000 دولار سنوياً. ونجحت الشركة خلال العامين الماضيين أيضاً بتخفيض كمية الانبعاثات الكربونية لكل موظف بنسبة النصف تقريباً (44٪) لتصل إلى 118 كغ.

وتسهم هذه الخطوة الأخيرة في تعزيز مستويات الاستدامة لدى شركة "فارنك" والتي تحرص على اعتماد أفضل الممارسات على الدوام. وتم مؤخراً اعتماد الشركة رسمياً من قبل مكتب الرقابة التنظيمية في دبي (إسكو) كشركة معتمدة لخدمات الطاقة.

ويهدف برنامج الاعتماد هذا إلى تعزيز ثقة مالكي المباني والمطورين والمدراء عند التعاقد مع شركات خدمات الطاقة المعتمدة والتي لديها ركائز الإدارة المؤهلة واللازمة، والموظفين الخبراء، والاستقرار من حيث الناحية المالية. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، تمثل هذه الشهادة دلالة على السجل الحافل الذي تتميز به شركة "فارنك" في تنفيذ مشاريع توفير الطاقة في دبي وكافة أنحاء دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة
