The Euromoney Qatar Conference Begins on Tuesday

H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister, State of Qatar to Open Conference with Official Address

Doha, Qatar  

Senior bankers, financiers and economic experts from across the region and around the world are arriving in Qatar for the Euromoney Qatar Conference, which runs from 6-7 December 2016.

The high profile event, which is one of the most important financial meetings to take place in Qatar, is set to bring together senior government ministers and leaders from across the financial sector to discuss the challenges of building a new financial ecosystem.

H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister, State of Qatar, will give an opening keynote address at the event.

His comments will be followed by keynote addresses by H.E. Mr. Ali Shareef Al Emadi, Minister of Finance, State of Qatar and Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari, Group CEO, Qatar National Bank. 

Reflecting the international character of the event, other major speakers on the first day include renowned economist George Magnus and Hafez Ghanem, Vice President, Middle East and North Africa, The World Bank.

Economies in the region have slowed in 2016, with the IMF estimating GDP growth will decline for the six GCC countries from an average 3.3 percent in 2015 to 1.8 percent in 2016. However, the rise in oil prices following last week’s OPEC agreement to cut output and a raft of recent fiscal initiatives to cut subsidies and diversify economies give grounds for optimism about 2017.

The wider global picture is more mixed, given the instability and uncertainty caused by the Brexit referendum vote in Europe and the results of the US elections – giving attendees at The Euromoney Qatar Conference much to discuss.

مؤتمر يوروموني قطر 2016 ينطلق الثلاثاء

يُفتتح بكلمة رسمية من معالي الشيخ عبدالله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية

الدوحة، قطر

يتوافد أهم القياديين في القطاعين المالي والاقتصادي على المستويين المحلي والدولي إلى الدوحة للمشاركة بمؤتمر يوروموني قطر الذي سيعقد خلال الفترة ما بين 6 و7 ديسمبر.

ومن خلال هذا الحدث الكبير، الذي يعد أحد أهم الاجتماعات في القطاع المالي التي تعقد في قطر، سيلتقي كبار الوزراء والمسؤولين الحكوميين من مختلف أقسام القطاع المالي لبحث التحديات التي تواجه خلق بيئة مالية جديدة.   

وسيلقي معالي الشيخ عبدالله بن ناصر بن خليفة آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية، الكلمة الافتتاحية للمؤتمر، تتبعها كلمات رئيسية يلقيها معالي السيد علي شريف العمادي وزير المالية، والسيد علي أحمد الكواري الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة بنك قطر الوطني QNB.

ولإظهار المستوى العالمي للمؤتمر، فإن المتحدثين الرئيسيين لليوم الأول يضمون الاقتصادي المعروف جورج ماغنوس، والسيد حافظ غانم، نائب رئيس مجموعة البنك الدولي لشؤون منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.

وكانت الاقتصادات في المنطقة قد تباطأت خلال عام 2016، إذ قدّر صندوق النقد الدولي أن الناتج الإجمالي المحلي في دول الخليج الستة انخفض من 3.3 بالمائة عام 2015 إلى 1.8 بالمائة هذا العام. لكن ارتفاع أسعار النفط عقب اتفاق مجموعة أوبك على خفض الإنتاج الأسبوع الماضي، إلى جانب إطلاق العديد من المبادرات المالية مؤخراً لرفع الدعم وتنويع الاقتصاد، يمنح شعوراً متفائلاً حيال عام 2017.  

أما على الصعيد العالمي - بعيد الاستفتاء على خروج بريطانيا من الاتحاد الأوروبي ونتائج الانتخابات الأمريكية- فالوضع أكثر تعقيداً، ما يمنح المشاركين في المؤتمر الكثير من الموضوعات لمناقشتها.

وبهذا الصدد، قال ريتشارد بانكس، مستشار التحرير لمؤتمرات يوروموني :"لقد شهدنا عاماً ملياً بالمفاجآت والتحديات الاقتصادية سواء على صعيد المنطقة أو العالم، ونحن مسرورون لاستضافة هذا العددمن المتحدثين الذين يمتلكون خبرات كبيرة ومتنوعة في مؤتمر هذا العام بغية مساعدة الوفود على التعرف أكثر على الاتجاهات الاقتصادية السائدة. وكالعادة، تعد قطر مكاناً مثالياً لعقد مثل هذه النقاشات، كونها تمتلك رؤية متفوقة على المدى البعيد، كما نجحت بتنويع اقتصادها وتسريع الابتكار."

وسينظم مؤتمر يوروموني هذا العام ورشة عمل خاصة تسبق المؤتمر حول العوامل الجيوسياسية، وذلك بهدف تحليل أهم القضايا التي تواجههم اليوم وكيفية التعامل معها؛ قضايا مثل تحقيق تكامل أكبر بين دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي في المستقبل.  

كما سيستضيف المؤتمر لجاناً لمناقشة موضوعات مثل الاستراتيجيات الاستثمارية في المنطقة والعالم، وجهود قطر للتحول إلى دولة رقمية، والابتكار في قطاع الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، وسيحاولون معرفة ما إذا كانت قطر تمتلك الحوافز المناسبة للمساعدة على نمو القطاع الخاص.
