Korek Telecom (Iraq) transforming and expanding its WCDMA core network with new SGSN and GGSN platforms from Ericsson

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) is helping Korek Telecom transform and expand its WCDMA core network in Iraq. The scope of the project includes the implementation of the latest Ericsson MkX platform for the SGSN as well as Ericsson’s market-leading GGSN platform. The capacity and scalability of the upgraded WCDMA core network makes it possible for Korek Telecom to accommodate the predicted strong growth in traffic and paves the way for a future introduction of LTE.

The Ericsson MkX platform for the SGSN is implemented for the first time in the Middle-East through the Korek Telecom project, making it an important milestone for Ericsson in the region.

The proven functionality of the Ericsson MkX platform for the SGSN builds on the Ericsson Blade System and extends the capabilities to meet even the most aggressive traffic growth predictions. It provides superior scalability, supporting up to 36 million users per node and up to 2300 million users when deployed in a pooled configuration. The small physical size (0.24 square meters) and the low power consumption reduce the total cost of ownership as well as the carbon footprint.

تطوّير وتوسّعة شبكة الوصول المتعدد بالتقسيم الكودي عريض النطاق (WDCMA) من خلال تطبيق منصات SGSN وGGSN الجديدة من إريكسون

أعلنت شركة إريكسون (المدرجة في ناسداك باسم: ERIC) عن شراكتها مع شركة كورك تيليكوم للعمل على تطوير وتوسيع شبكتها كورك تيليكوم WCDMA (شبكة الوصول المتعدد بالتقسيم الكودي عريض النطاق) في العراق.
ويتضمن نطاق هذا المشروع تطبيق أحدث منصات MkX من إريكسون في منصة SGSNومنصة GGSN الرائدة في السوق من إريكسون وتزوّد قدرات السعة والقياس التي تؤمنها شبكةWCDMA المطوّرة، شركة كورك تيليكوم بإمكانيات استيعاب النمو القوي المتوقع في معدلات الحركة، وتمهد الطريق في الوقت نفسه لتحقيق التبني المستقبلي لتكنولوجيا LTE.
وحول المشروع الجديد قال محسن عكراوي، ممثّل الرئيس التنفيذي لتكنولوجيا المعلومات في كورك تيليكوم: "نتعاون اليوم مع إريكسون، شريكنا على الأمد الطويل، لضمان تحقيق مستقبل التواصل والاتصال في العراق، ونحن نتطلع قدماً لمواصلة تزويد مشتركينا بأفضل القدرات الشبكية لسنوات قادمة".
هذا ويذكر أن منصة MkX الخاصة بإريكسون تطبق للمرة الأولى في منطقة الشرق الأوسط من خلال مشروع كورك تيليكوم، وهو ما يعتبر خطوة هامة ومتميزة بالنسبة إلى إريكسون.
ومن جانبها قالت رافية ابراهيم، رئيس إريكسون الشرق الأوسط وشرق أفريقيا: " فوزنا بهذا العقد دليل على قيادة اريكسون لمجال التكنولوجيا و الخدمات في العراق و امتداد لعلاقتنا الوطيدة مع كوريك تيليكوم، و سوف تقدم منصة SGSN فرصة لكوريك لتقديم تجارب فريدة من نوعها بالنسبة للأشخاص و الشركات و المجتمع ككل، و بالتالي بناء اسرع في المجتمع الشبكي في العراق".
وتعتمد المزايا العملية المثبتة لمنصة إريكسون MkX لـ SGSN على نظام شفرات إريكسون، وهي توسع تلك القدرات لتلبي توقعات نمو أكثر حدّة لمعدلات الحركة وتوفر هذه المنصة قدرات قياس متفوقة، وهي تدعم ما يصل إلى 36 مليون مستخدم للعقدة، وما يصل إلى 2300 مليون مستخدم عند تطبيقها ضمن إعدادات مجمعة ومن شأن الحجم الفعلي الصغير لهذه المنصة (0.24 متر مربع) والمعدلات المنخفضة لاستهلاك الطاقة، أن تساهم في الحد من تكلفة التملك الإجمالية، إضافة إلى البصمة البيئية.
