Expansion plans include UAE and Pakistan, and opening new R&D centers in Egypt and Germany
Cairo – July 11, 2016 – CAREEM, the region’s leading app-based car service, today announced a new research and development (R&D) strategy and plans for global expansion. Over the next five years, CAREEM will invest $100M in R&D, which includes growing its team in UAE and Pakistan, and opening new R&D centers in Egypt and Germany. The investment will accelerate innovation in transportation-related technology infrastructure for the region and keep CAREEM at the forefront of this dynamic new industry.
“Over the last few years, the region has witnessed a surge in technological innovation and has become home to rapidly growing technology startups,” said Magnus Olsson, co-founder and chief navigator, CAREEM. “These startups are using technology to improve the lives of people in the region. CAREEM is committed to continue innovating to offer the region a safe and reliable transportation option. In order to do that, we have to double-down on R&D, which is why we have announced this investment today.”
A key element of the new R&D strategy involves expanding the company’s engineering footprint in Pakistan. Today, an additional 50 engineers join the CAREEM team in Pakistan. The engineers will be joining the company from VentureDive -a technology solutions company that creates and invests in technology products and services that simplify and improve lives of people worldwide. The new team will work to enhance the user experience, quality and performance of the CAREEM app.

Dubai specifically has experienced massive population growth and was recently listed as one of the five fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the world, according to the Brookings Institute. As a result, local institutions must be able to meet the growing demand for new products and services. The R&D center in Germany will provide CAREEM with access to a global talent pool and booming startup scene to provide its users with a higher level of service and increase awareness of its expanding global presence.
Founded in 2012 by Mudassir Sheikha and Magnus Olsson, ex-McKinsey consultants, and Dr. Abdulla Elyas, CAREEM has experienced more than 30 percent month-over-month growth since its inception and has expanded across 27 cities in the MENA region and Pakistan. كريم تعلن عن استثمار مئة مليون دولار في البحث والتطوير كجزء من خطّتها للتوسّع العالمي
خطّة التوسّع تشمل كلّ من الإمارات العربية المتحدة وباكستان، وإنشاء مراكز البحث والتطوير في مصر وألمانيا.
القاهرة ــ11 يوليو 2016- أعلنت اليوم شركة "كريم"، أكبر شركة خدمة توجيه المركبات عبر التطبيقات الذكية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا عن استراتيجيّة جديدة للبحث والتطوير، وعن خطط للتوسّع العالمي. وستتتثمر الشركة في سنوات الخمس القادمة مئة مليون دولار أميركي في البحث والتطوير، وستعمل على زيادة عدد فريق العمل في الإمارات العربية المتّحدة وباكستان، وعلى إنشاء مراكز بحث وتطوير جديدة في كل من مصر وألمانيا. سيساهم هذا الإستثمار في تسريع الإبتكار في البُنى التحتيّة لتكنولوجيا النقل في المنطقة، كما وسيحافظ على موقع كريم في الصدارة في هذا المجال الجديد والديناميكي.
وذكر العضو المؤسّس لشركة كريم السيّد ماغنس اولسن بأنّ المنطقة قد شهدت في السنوات الأخيرة فورةً في مجال إبتكار التكنولوجيا، وأصبحت مركزاً للعديد من اًلشركات الناشئة.
كما وأضاف بأنّ هذه الشركات تستخدم التكنولوجيا لتحسين حياة الناس في المنطقة، وبأنّ كريم تلتزم بالمثابرة على الإبتكار لتأمين وسيلة نقل آمنة يمكن الوثوق بها، وشدّد على انّ هذا الأمر سيستوجب التركيز على البحث والتطوير، وبأنّ الإعلان عن هذا الإستثمار جاء لهذا الهدف.
يشكّل توسيع قسم الهندسة للشركة في باكستان عنصراً أساسيّاً في استراتيجيّة البحث والتطوير الجديدة، وقد انضمّ اليوم الى فريق العمل خمسون مهندساً إضافيّاً، وذلك عن طريق شركة فنتشر دايف، وهي شركة تُعنى بتقديم حلول التكنولوجيا وابتكار منتجات وخدمات تسهّل حياة الناس في العالم وتحسّنها، وسيعمل الفريق الجديد على تحسين تجربة المستخدم ونوعية وأداء التطبيق.
كما وأعرب المدير التنفيذي لفنتشردايف السيّد عاطف عظيم عن مدى سعادته لتوظيف كريم لفريق التكنولوجيا الذي احتضنته فنتشردايف، خاصةً وأنّ كريم مؤسسة إقليميّة مدعومة من قبل مستثمرين عالميين، وأكّد بأن هذا الأمر سيساعد في مهمّة الشركة للتوصّل الى تصدير منتجات تتميّز عالميّاً من باكستان، وسيحقق الرؤيا بإنشاء منظمة تكنولوجيا في المنطقة ومنظومة في قطاع الأعمال لا نظير لها في العالم.
لقد أصبحت منطقة الشرق الأوسط في العقد الأخير مركزاً استراتيجيّاً للمنظّمات العالمية، وذلك لقربها جغرافيّاً من الأسواق الناشئة. وشهدت دبي بشكل خاص نموّاً سكّانيّاً هائلاً، وتمّ تصنيفها من بين التجمّعات الحضريّة الخمس الأسرع نموّاً في العالم بحسب معهد بروكينغز، ممّا يحتّم على المؤسسات المحليّة تلبية الطلب المتزايد على منتجات وخدمات جديدة. وسيؤمّن مركز البحث والتطوير في ألمانيا لكريم إمكانيّة الوصول الى مجموعة أكبر من المواهب والى السوق المزدهر للشركات الناشئة، وذلك لتمكين الشركة من تأمين مستوىً أعلى من الخدمة للعملاء وتعريف الجمهور على الوجود العالمي الواسع لها.
