Turkey an Important Natural Stone Producer in the World



Turkey, situated on the Alpine Belt, where the world's richest marble deposits are found, is among the world's oldest natural stone producers. Turkey has a four-thousand year production history that started with the Marmara Island. More than 400 different colours textures and patterns of natural stones are found from the Marmara and Aegean Regions and in the geographical regions from the Thrace to the Eastern Anatolia. The natural stones include granite, onyx, limestone, basalt, andesite, slate stone, diabase, marble and travertine.


Turkey’s importance as a world producer of natural stone producers is reinforced by the fact that it is renowned for its developing industry, production technology, its richness in variety and reserves, sector experience, abundance of raw materials, ease of shipment in sea transportation, its dynamic sector structure, the new technologies being utilized and its broad colour spectrum.


Ufuk Akoh , export manager Pinar, Turkish marble company said: "The Arab region in general, use marble in various buildings ranging from houses and apartments up to mega-projects , and we are working with many companies in United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia , Qatar, Oman and Kuwait to export our products to these countries. "
He added: "We aim through our participation in the Middle East for stones gallery to build mutually beneficial partnerships and open communication with current clients and new channels , in addition to highlight and showcase the latest types of marble that we issue ."
