AUC TO HOLD FIRST DISABILITY CONFERENCE

 


WHAT
The first disability conference titled, “Removing Barriers in Education Settings to Create an Inclusive and Accessible Society,” organized by the Student Disability Services Unit at the Office of Student Support, The American University in Cairo (AUC).
The conference aims at the inclusion of students with disabilities in educational institutions, discussion will include challenges, assistive technologies, resources and having an inclusive ethos. AUC students and alumni with disabilities will share their experience at the conference.
WHO
Inauguration keynote speakers Khaled Dahawy, vice president for student affairs, AUC and Ola Morsi, consultant psychiatrist and acting director of Office of Student Support, AUC.  The conference will include speakers from NGOs working in Egypt on different areas of disability, including Heba Hagrass, Egyptian parliament member, and representative of people with disabilities inside the parliament; Maha Helaly and Doaa Mabrouk from the National Council for Disability Affairs and Dahlia Soliman, president, Egyptian Autistic Society.
