SCHOLAR AND WRITER BASSAM TIBI TO SPEAK AT AUC

 


WHAT
Three public lectures on Islam and civilization, “Muslims in Europe: A Conversation with Bassam Tibi,” “Islam’s Exposure to Modernity” and “The Shari’a-State and the Islamist Shari’atization of Islam.” The three lectures are organized by The Department of Arab and Islamic Civilizations (ARIC) at The American University in Cairo (AUC).
WHO
Bassam Tibi, Bayard Dodge distinguished visiting professor and professor emeritus of international relations, University of Gottingen. Tibi held chairs at University of Gottingen and Cornell University before his retirement in 2009. He is the author of more than 40 books in English and in German, including Political Islam, World Politics, and Europe and Democratic Peace and Euro-Islam versus Global Jihad.
