Dubai, UAE, 6 March 2016: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has honoured 39 high-performing Emirati students who are part of DEWA’s scholarship programme. The move supports the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support and develop talented Emiratis. It also supports DEWA’s strategy to promote Emiratisation and develop a UAE National workforce for the energy and water sectors. The award ceremony, organised at DEWA’s head office, was attended by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, DEWA officials, the students and their families.
Al Tayer commended the students for their high academic grades, and urged them to continue their excellence and work harder to broaden their knowledge and skills, to honour their country and be role models for their peers.
“DEWA has an established strategy to encourage Emiratisation by developing a National talent pool. This supports the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance Emiratisation. It also supports the UAE Vision 2021 for the UAE to become one of the best countries in the world and develop a knowledge-based economy, and the Dubai Plan 2021 for Dubai to be a city of happy, creative, and empowered people. DEWA is one of the leading government organisation in the UAE to launch training programmes for Emirati students who wish to further their studies in the energy sector at home and abroad,” said Al Tayer.
“We have many training programmes for Emirati students to complete their studies in the energy sector in the UAE or abroad. Our objective is to create a generation of Emiratis capable of leading the different aspects of the energy sector, contribute to developing a generation that realises the role of professional work in achieving sustainable development, and create quality jobs that benefit both the citizen and the country. These efforts support our role as a socially-responsible organisation,” added Al Tayer.
“DEWA has a comprehensive strategy to encourage Emiratisation. It includes different programmes to train and prepare Emiratis in technical fields. DEWA’s scholarship programme gives outstanding students the opportunity to continue their studies at prestigious universities in the UAE and abroad. Each year, we honour high-performing students in the scholarship programme to encourage them and motivate them to exert more effort,” said Dr. Al Akraf.
DEWA works with many local and regional universities and institutes to prepare and qualify high school Emirati graduates for engineering jobs in DEWA. The scholarship programme includes a Bachelor’s degree in electrical and mechanical engineering in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates University for 20 students annually, Intilaq Programme, which offers a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and electrical engineering in various private and government universities and colleges, for 60 students annually, a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Dubai (Dubai Men’s College) for 20 students annually, and an overseas programme offered for ten students annually to get a Bachelor’s degree in renewable energy.
هيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي تكرم 39 من الطلاب المتفوقين ضمن برنامج المنح الدراسية
دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 6 مارس 2016: انسجاماً مع توجيهات صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي- رعاه الله، لدعم وتنمية المواهب الإماراتية، وتجسيداً لاستراتيجيتها الرامية إلى تعزيز التوطين وتطوير كادر وطني في مجالات الطاقة والمياه، قام سعادة/ سعيد محمد الطاير، العضو المنتدب الرئيس التنفيذي لهيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي بتكريم 39 من الطلاب المواطنين المتفوقين الملتحقين ببرنامج الهيئة للمنح الدراسية، وذلك خلال حفل أقيم في المبني الرئيسي لهيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي، حضره الدكتور يوسف إبراهيم الأكرف النائب التنفيذي للرئيس – قطاع دعم الأعمال والموارد البشرية، وعدد من مسؤولي الهيئة وأولياء أمور الطلاب.
وقد أثنى سعادة الطاير على الطلاب الذين تم تكريمهم وأشاد بتفوقهم وتحقيقهم لمعدلات دراسية مرتفعة، وحثهم على مواصلة التفوق والسعي لاكتساب المعارف من مختلف مصادرها ليرفعوا اسم دولتهم عالياً، ويكونوا قدوة حسنة لبقية زملائهم.
وقال سعادته: "انسجاما مع رؤية سيدي صاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم نائب رئيس الدولة رئيس مجلس الوزراء حاكم دبي -رعاه الله- الرامية إلى تعزيز التوطين، وفي ضوء رؤية الإمارات 2021 التي تهدف إلى أن تكون الدولة من بين أفضل دول العالم في مجال التعليم القائم على الاقتصاد المعرفي، وخطة دبي 2021 لأن تكون دبي موطناً لأفراد مبدعين وممكنين ملؤهم الفخر والسعادة، تعمل هيئة كهرباء ومياه دبي وفق استراتيجية راسخة لتشجيع التوطين عبر تنمية وتطوير المواهب الوطنية والكوادر العاملة، وتعد الهيئة إحدى الهيئات الحكومية الرائدة في دولة الإمارات في مجال إطلاق البرامج التدريبية للطلبة المواطنين الراغبين بإتمام دراستهم داخل وخارج الدولة في مختلف مجالات الطاقة".
وأضاف سعادته: "تطلق الهيئة العديد من البرامج التدريبية للطلبة المواطنين الراغبين بإتمام دراستهم داخل وخارج الدولة في مجالات الطاقة بهدف إعداد أبناء الوطن لتولي زمام القيادة في مختلف قطاعات الطاقة، والمساهمة في بناء جيل يدرك أهمية العمل المهني في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة، إضافة إلى خلق وظائف نوعية تصب في مصلحة الوطن والمواطن، إيماناً منها بدورها كمؤسسة حكومية مسؤولة اجتماعياً".
من جهته، قال الدكتور يوسف إبراهيم الأكرف، النائب التنفيذي للرئيس– قطاع دعم الأعمال والموارد البشرية: "تعمل الهيئة وفق استراتيجية متكاملة لتشجيع وتحفيز التوطين تتضمن برامج طموحة لتدريب وإعداد الإماراتيين في المجالات التقنية. ويتيح برنامج المنح الدراسية الذي توفره الهيئة الفرص للطلبة المتفوقين لاستكمال دراستهم في أرقى الجامعات داخل وخارج الدولة، الأمر الذي يدعم مسيرة التوطين. وتقوم الهيئة في كل عام بتكريم الطلاب المتفوقين ضمن برنامج المنح الدراسية لتشجيعهم وتحفيزهم على بذل المزيد من الجهد".
وتتعاون الهيئة مع عدد كبير من الجامعات والمعاهد الوطنية والمحلية والإقليمية لإعداد وتأهيل المواطنين من خريجي الثانوية العامة لشغل الوظائف الهندسية بالهيئة. ويشمل برنامج المنح الدراسية بكالوريوس الهندسة الكهربائية والميكانيكية بالتعاون مع جامعة الإمارات العربية المتحدة لعشرين طالب سنوياً، وبرنامج "انطلاق" لدراسة البكالوريوس في الهندسة الكهربائية والميكانيكية بالتعاون مع عدد من الجامعات والكليات الحكومية والخاصة، لستين طالب سنوياً، و بكالوريوس الهندسة الكهربائية بالتعاون مع كليات التقنية العليا في دبي (كلية البنين) لعشرين طالب سنوياً، و بكالوريوس الطاقة المتجددة خارج الدولة لعشرة طلاب سنوياً.
