A public lecture, “Together: Collaborative Translation of the Untranslatable,” as part of the “In Translation” lecture series, organized by The Center for Translation Studies at the American University in Cairo. The lecture discusses the challenges of translating rich Arabic poetry into English.

Ferial Ghazoul, professor of comparative literature at AUC, and John Verlenden, academic, writer and translator. Ghazoul and Verlenden were recently awarded the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding for their translations of Chronicles of Majnun Layla and Selected Poems of Qassim Haddad.
