AUC TO CELEBRATE THE COMPLETION OF CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT OF FACULTIES OF EDUCATION TEMPUS PROJECT

WHAT

The dissemination event for the completion of  the European Union’s Tempus project, “Capacity Development of Faculties of Education in International Approaches to Teacher Education.” The three year project, coordinated by The American University in Cairo, builds capacity of selected faculties of education and higher education institutions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by introducing international best practices from the EU in three areas: action- research, effective practicum and school-based teacher continued professional development (CPD).

The project aims to strengthen partnerships between universities and schools and to create a collaborative network between faculties of education in some EU countries and some selected partners in the MENA region. Emphases are placed on research, documenting best practices in the EU, taking stock of the situation in the MENA region, exchange study visits between all partners and the dissemination of the results of training, experience and collaborative learning in workshops and publications.

In the event, the pre-final monitoring report of the project will be presented and the publications and audio visual material will be launched. Moreover, each of the 14 partner institute will present their sustainability plan and their way forward. Partner Institutes include, Alexandria University, Al-Najah University, The American University of Beirut, Assiut University, Beirzeit University, Helwan University, Institute of Education, Open University, Professional Academy for Teachers, Stockholm University, University of Leicester and University of Saint Joseph.
