Tenants moving in to five million square feet development usher in a new era for sustainable living
Dubai, UAE, December 27, 2015: Diamond Developers has announced a major step forward for sustainability in the region. The constructor of The Sustainable City - the region’s first fully integrated sustainable community – has officially welcomed its first set of tenants, with the inaugural residents ushering in a new era for ecological and environmentally-friendly living.
“Diamond Developers is thrilled to have turned the vision of sustainable living in Dubai into a reality with its first set of tenants making their home in The Sustainable City. The community was launched in 2014 with the support of Dubai Land Department to have a focus on sustainable living through a multitude of social, environmental and economic initiatives. The successful opening of the city to residents has set a new benchmark for other developers to follow," said Faris Saeed, CEO Diamond Developers.
Several families have made their home at The Sustainable City to date, with more expected to move in by the end of the year. Each family will benefit from the home grown produce in the farm and will receive fresh herbs from the two operational ‘biodome’ greenhouses on regular basis. The number of residents living there is expected to increase significantly by April 2016 when the city’s community mall is completed and all 11 biodomes are up and running.
The Sustainable City’s first tenats expressed their excitement to be part of the first sustainable community in the region, and said making that decision was easy with the environment friendly lifestyle it offers. The tenants’ homes are located in Phase One of the development, which comprises a five-cluster residential complex, with each cluster featuring pedestrianised streets, a communal area, five playgrounds, a central wind tower and solar-shaded parking lots. Alongside its biodomes in the central green spine and community mall, Phase One is also home to an equestrian center with horse, cycling and jogging tracks.
Spread over five million square feet, The Sustainable City has a focus on three elements of sustainability; economic, environment and social. The community features a raft of initiatives to both conserve resources and save money, including energy efficient home design and use of eco-friendly building materials. Every aspect of the development has been designed to benefit residents economically, from its revenue-sharing scheme’s net zero service fees to its wealth of employment opportunities. The city places a priority on nature, green spaces, health, education and recreational activities, with the emphasis on nurturing a sustainable lifestyle that is allied to a strong sense of community.

المدينة المستدامة تستقبل اول ساكنيها
انتقال المستأجرين يمثل باكورة حقبة جديدة من المعيشة المستدامة في مشروع تبلغ مساحته خمسة ملايين متر مربع
[دبي - الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 27 ديسمبر 2015] – دشنت دايموند ديفلوبرز خطوة كبيرة إلى الأمام لتحقيق الاستدامة في المنطقة، وذلك باستقبالها رسميًا المجموعة الأولى من المستأجرين في المدينة المستدامة التي تمثل أول مجتمع مستدام متكامل في المنطقة. وبذلك، سيطلق هؤلاء حقبة جديدة من المعيشة المستدامة والصديقة للبيئة على مستوى المنطقة.
وقال فارس سعيد، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة دايموند ديفلوبرز: "نشعر بسعادة غامرة لنجاحنا في دايموند ديفلوبرز بتحويل رؤية المعيشة المستدامة في دبي إلى واقع معاش، وذلك بانتقال المجموعة الأولى من المستأجرين إلى المدينة المستدامة مع عائلاتهم. لقد أطلقنا هذا المشروع في العام 2014 بدعم من دائرة الأراضي والأملاك في دبي، ليكون تركيزه منصبًا على المعيشة المستدامة من خلال العديد من المبادرات الاجتماعية والبيئية والاقتصادية. إن الافتتاح الناجح للمدينة ووصول المقيمين إليها يضع معايير جديدة يتعين على المطورين الآخرين اتباعها، وتطبيقها في مشاريعهم".
وكان عدد من العائلات قد انتقل بالفعل إلى المدينة المستدامة، ويتوقع وصول المزيد منهم قبل نهاية العام الجاري. وستستفيد كافة الأسر من منتجات المزرعة والتي تم الانتهاء من تجهيزها للمرحلة التشغيلية. ومن المتوقع أن يشهد عدد السكان الذين يعيشون هناك زيادة كبيرة بحلول أبريل من العام المقبل 2016 مع اكتمال مركز التسوق الداخلي في المدينة، وتشغيل كافة القباب البيولوجية البالغ عددها 11 قبة.
وقد اعرب الساكنين الجدد في المدينة المستدامة عن سعادتهم بالانتقال إلى المدينة والتحول الى اسلوب حياة مستدام صديق للبيئة وصحي لهم ولعائلاتهم وذكروا ان قرار الانتقال لم يكن صعباً في ظل ما تقدمه المدينة من مرافق وخدمات عدا عن كونها صديقة للبيئة، وتقع منازل المستأجرين الجدد في المدينة المستدامة ضمن المرحلة الأولى من المشروع، والتي تتألف من حي سكني يتكون من خمسة مجمعات، بينما يضم كل مجمع منها شوارع مخصصة للمشاة ومنطقة مشتركة وخمسة ملاعب وبرج مركزي للرياح ومواقف شمسية مظللة. وإلى جانب القباب البيولوجية في المنطقة المركزية الخضراء، تشتمل المرحلة الأولى أيضًا على مركز الفروسية مع مسارات لركوب الخيول والدراجات والجري.
وتنتشر المدينة المستدامة على مساحة تزيد على أكثر من خمسة ملايين قدم مربع، وتركز على العناصر الرئيسية الثلاثة للاستدامة؛ وهي: الاقتصادية والبيئة والاجتماعية. وتنطلق أيضًا من مجموعة من المبادرات لضمان الحفاظ على الموارد وتوفير المال، بما في ذلك تصميم المنازل لضمان كفاءة استهلاك الطاقة واستخدام مواد البناء الصديقة للبيئة. وصممت كافة جوانب المشروع ليستفيد السكان منها اقتصاديًا، بدءًا من تطبيق برنامج للمشاركة في العائدات لتغطية رسوم الخدمات بالكامل وحتى وجود الكثير من فرص العمل. وتأتي الطبيعة والمساحات الخضراء والصحة والتعليم والأنشطة الترفيهية في مقدمة أولويات المدينة، مع التركيز على اتباع أسلوب حياة مستدام يدعم شعور الانتماء للمكان.
