‘Innovation Key to Achieving a Green Economy’


Delegates at Dubai Green Economy Partnership’s latest Green Leadership Series, hosted by Dubai Science Park highlight the crucial role of Innovation in building a Green Economy

During the latest edition of the Green Leadership Series, delegates discussed the key elements of Green Business Practice needed to drive Dubai’s ambitions to establish a world-leading green economy. The discussion resulted in unanimous agreement that integrated innovation was crucial to achieving this accolade, and that facets of the renewable and environmental industry must integrate innovation into their strategy and ethos.

Dubai Green Economy Partnership is the first multi-stakeholder and cross sector partnership to promote the transition to a green and low-carbon economy in the Middle East. The programs and initiatives of Dubai Green Economy Partnership aim to enable the growth of green trade and investment and accelerate the adoption of green technologies, products and services across regional and global markets.

In line with the Innovation week announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this edition of the Green Leadership Series, organised by Dubai Science Park (DSP) and the Dubai Green Economy Partnership (DGEP). It was specifically designed to support forward thinking organisations pursuing new business opportunities arising from the transition to a green and low-carbon economy.

Dubai Science Park is the Life Science, New Energy and Environment business community that serves the evolving needs of the industry for increased collaboration and innovation hosted the event.  It supports both SMEs and global firms operating in life science and energy sectors, looking for a regional base for their Middle East operations, by facilitating a bespoke yet vibrant community.

Delegates from the Emirates Authority for Standarization and Metrology, ENOC, Ernst & Young and Centre for Responsible Business at Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented various innovative green business practices to help reduce the carbon footprint and assist in establishing Dubai as a Green Economy hub through collaborative innovation.

The vision of the series aligns with the country’s focus to innovation and its commitment to facilitate green consumer choices” commented His Excellency Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) and Chairman of the Dubai Green Economy Partnership.
