- Aviation sector to account for 37.5% of Dubai’s GDP by 2020

UAE - November 7, 2015 – The Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) aims through its participation in the 2015 Dubai Airshow, to attract more pioneers of the aviation industries from around the world. This is in line with its ongoing commitment to provide a strategic platform for international companies to build a strong presence in the regional markets. DAFZA revealed that the aviation sector represents one of its most important sectors, accounting for 10 per cent of the total number of international and multinational corporations taking advantage of the freezone’s investment facilities, incentives and services.
DAFZA will showcase a world-class portfolio of administrative and logistical services and facilities that meet the aspirations of regional and international investors. It will highlight special features such as a strategic location close to the Dubai International Airport, various investment incentives, tax exemption, an enticing legislative infrastructure, and a focus on excellence in the work environment, innovation, and technological progress.
DAFZA currently hosts a number of the world's major aviation and aerospace multinational companies, including Airbus, Boeing, General Electric, Rolls Royce, and Bombardier, which represent 28 per cent of the number of aviation companies operating in the freezone. The industry is drawn to DAFZA’s stature as an ideal destination for the world's leading aviation and multinational companies seeking opportunities to enter new markets. The participation of DAFZA in Dubai Airshow 2015 emphasizes its vital role as an active partner to the aviation sector which contributes 26.7 per cent to Dubai’s GDP which is equivalent to USD 26.7 billion - in 2013 and which is expected to account for 37.5 per cent by 2020 and 44.7 per cent in 2030.
Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Director General of DAFZA, said that aviation is one of the vital sectors within DAFZA, as it accounts for a large share of total the number of international and multinational companies benefiting from DAFZA’s services and facilities. He also emphasized the importance of participating in Dubai Airshow 2015 as an opportunity to directly interact with existing and potential partners and inform them about the smart services, investment incentives, and promising opportunities offered by DAFZA. He noted that the freezone provides a big boost to the aviation sector which in turn is a major contributor to the global economy.
Dr. Al Zarooni added that that the aviation sector has direct and indirect contributions to the national economy, pointing out that over the past few years Dubai has succeeded in promoting competitiveness in the domestic aviation sector which has become a major driver of employment; statistics indicate that 21 per cent of the total jobs in the emirate come from this sector. Aviation’s contribution to employment is forecasted to further rise to 29.5 per cent and 35.1 per cent by the years 2020 and 2030, respectively.
“We seek to broaden the contributions of the aviation sector in the provision of competitive jobs, by attracting an elite workforce of aviation specialists. The share of these practitioners constitutes 17 per cent of DAFZA’s total workforce which recorded 20 per cent growth over last year. The growth and development of the sector is also the result of the unlimited support of the wise leadership and the great efforts made to invest in infrastructure and promote openness to global markets,” said Dr. Al Zarooni.

We are committed to continue creating an attractive investment environment with the highest standards of excellence, innovation and technological progress, in order to meet the aspirations of regional and international investors and provide more promising job opportunities as we enlarge our contributions to the development of the national economy,” concluded Al Zarooni.
During Dubai Airshow 2015, DAFZA will share its latest administrative and logistical services and smart innovative solutions, particularly its zone-wide Wi-Fi service. The DAFZA Chalet will host the Advisory Council meeting for the 2016 Global Aerospace Summit along with a business breakfast to be attended by Dr. Al Zarooni, senior government officials, decision-makers and CEOs of major international and multinational aviation corporations. The Chalet will also feature an ‘Innovation Camp’ to be organized as part of joint efforts with INJAZ-UAE to develop student skills, as well as a series of workshops prepared especially for small and medium enterprises in partnership with consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton.
DAFZA will conclude its participation in the Dubai Airshow with workshops to be organized in association with Airbus entitled ‘Future Day’. The activity will provide an interactive platform for students to experience the aviation and aerospace industries.

الإمارات - 7 نوفمبر 5201: تسعى سلطة المنطقة الحرة بمطار دبي "دافزا" إلى جذب المزيد من رواد صناعات الطيران في العالم، وذلك على هامش مشاركتها في "معرض دبي للطيران 2015". وستقوم دافزا باستعراض أبرز المزايا التنافسية والخدمات المتكاملة والمرافق المتطورة التي تمثل دفعة قوية للشركات الدولية والمتعددة الجنسيات العاملة ضمن قطاع الطيران، في ظل مساعيها الحثيثة لتوفير منصة استراتيجية لتمكين الشركات العالمية من بناء حضور قوي ضمن الأسواق الإقليمية. وكشفت "دافزا" بأن قطاع الطيران يمثُل أحد أهم القطاعات الرئيسية لديها كونه يستحوذ على حصة كبيرة بنسبة 10% من اجمالي عدد الشركات الدولية والمتعددة الجنسيات المستفيدة من خدمات ومرافق وتسهيلات المنطقة الحرة.

وتحتضن "دافزا" كبرى شركات الطيران الرائدة عالمياً، مثل "إيرباص" و"بوينج" "وجينرال الكتريك" و"رولز رويس" و"بومباردير"، والتي تشكل 28% من عدد شركات قطاع الطيران لديها، مدفوعةً بسمعة مرموقة كوجهة مثالية لأبرز شركات الطيران العالمية والمتعددة الجنسيات الباحثة عن فرص للدخول إلى أسواق جديدة. وتسعى دافزا من خلال مشاركتها في المعرض إلى ترسيخ دورها كشريك فاعل في تعزيز مساهمة قطاع الطيران في الناتج المحلي الإجمالي، والبالغة 26.7% أي ما يعادل 26,7 مليار دولار أمريكي في العام 2013، لتصل إلى 37.5% بحلول العام 2020 و44.7% بحلول 2030.
وأوضح الدكتور محمد الزرعوني، مدير عام "دافزا"، بأنّ قطاع الطيران يمثل أحد أهم القطاعات الرئيسية ضمن "دافزا"، كونه يستحوذ على حصة كبيرة من إجمالي الاستثمارات الأجنبية وعدد الشركات الدولية والمتعددة الجنسيات المستفيدة من خدمات ومرافق وتسهيلات المنطقة الحرة، مؤكّداً أهمية المشاركة في "معرض دبي للطيران 2015" لتعزيز جسور التواصل المباشر مع الشركاء الحاليين والمحتملين، وإطلاعهم على طبيعة الخدمات الذكية والحوافز الاستثمارية والفرص الواعدة المتاحة في "دافزا"، والتي تمثل بمجملها دفعة قوية لهذا القطاع الحيوي الذي يعتبر رافد حيوي من روافد الاقتصاد العالمي.
وقال الزرعوني: "قدم قطاع الطيران مساهمات مباشرة وغير مباشرة في الاقتصاد الوطني، مشيراً إلى أن دبي نجحت على مدى السنوات القليلة الماضية في تعزيز تنافسية قطاع الطيران المحلي، الذي بات رافداً أساسياً من روافد التوظيف، في ظل الإحصائيات المتخصصة التي تشير إلى أنه ساهم في 21% من إجمالي الوظائف في إمارة دبي. وتفيد التوقعات بنمو مساهمته في التوظيف لتصل إلى 29.5% و35.1% بحلول عامي 2020 و2030 على التوالي. ونسعى من جانبنا إلى تفعيل مساهمة قطاع الطيران في توفير فرص عمل تنافسية، عبر استقطاب نخبة الكوادر البشرية المتخصصة بقطاع الطيران، والتي تشكل حالياً 17% من إجمالي القوى العاملة في "دافزا"، بنمو يصل إلى 20% مقارنة بالعام الماضي. ومما لا شك فيه بأنّ ما وصل إليه قطاع الطيران من نمو وتطور لم يكن ليتحقق لولا الدعم اللامحدود من القيادة الرشيدة والمساعي الحثيثة للاستثمار في البنى التحتية وتعزيز الانفتاح على الأسواق العالمية."

وتستعرض "دافزا" خلال "معرض دبي للطيران 2015"، أحدث خدماتها الإدارية واللوجستية وحلولها الذكية المبتكرة، وفي مقدمتها خدمة الشبكة اللاسلكية "واي فاي". وتستضيف منصة "دافزا" اجتماع المجلس الاستشاري لـ "القمة العالمية لصناعات الفضاء"، إلى جانب إفطار عمل بمشاركة الدكتور محمد الزرعوني وكبار الشخصيات الحكومية وصنّاع القرار والرؤساء التنفيذيين لكبرى الشركات الدولية والمتعددة الجنسيات. وتشهد المنصة أيضاً تنظيم "مخيّم الإبتكار" في إطار الجهود المشتركة مع "إنجاز الإمارات" لتنمية المهارات الطلابية، وسلسلة من ورش العمل للشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة في قطاع الطيران العاملة لديها حول كيفية تضمين الابتكار ضمن استراتيجياتها وذلك في إطار الشراكة مع "شركة بوز الين هاميلتون".
والمقرر أن تختتم "دافزا" مشاركتها في الحدث بعقد فعالية "يوم المستقبل" من خلال ورشتي عمل بالتعاون مع "إيرباص"، في سبيل توفير منصة تفاعلية من شأنها تمكين الطلبة من خوض التجارب والاطلاع على الصناعات ضمن قطاع الطيران والفضاء.
