Cairo, Egypt 25th November 2015 - Imagine trying to watch a video of your favorite local comedy or drama shows on YouTube — but the video buffers every five seconds. Or imagine only being able to watch the first minute of it, before stepping out of the WiFi zone at the mall.
Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Libya and Yemen have increasing rates of smart phone adoption, but access to high-speed, affordable data remains a big challenge. In response, YouTube has been working on ways to lessen the demands of speed and data for people using its platform in places where there are challenges to access.
Today YouTube is bringing offline playback to more countries including Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Libya and Yemen. This feature lets you save many videos offline in the YouTube mobile app to watch later during periods of low or no internet connectivity. For videos where this feature is available, you can choose to save the video for offline viewing by tapping on the offline icon. Once saved offline, videos can be played without an Internet connection for up to 48 hours, so you can enjoy them without worrying about slow connections (music videos excluded).
Starting today, the majority of YouTube videos in Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Libya and Yemen will become available for people to view offline, from popular talk shows to local comedy. Making these popular videos available for offline playback will help people move past the challenges of data connection, speed and cost to enjoy a smooth, buffer-free version of their favorite content.
Offline playback is just a start. We’re working on even more ways to make video content more affordable and accessible to our growing base of mobile users in the region.
Take YouTube videos offline for buffer-free playback
The new offline feature within the YouTube app lets people make certain videos available for offline viewing using WiFi or their data plans. Once saved, the videos will be available offline for up to 48 hours, allowing people to enjoy YouTube videos during periods of low or no internet connectivity.
For videos where this feature is available, people can choose to take the video offline by tapping on the offline icon that sits on the bottom right hand corner of the video frame.

القاهرة، مصر 25 نوفمبر 2015 - تخيل شعورك عندما تريد تحميل مقاطع فيديو لبرامجك الكوميدية أو الدراما المفضلة والتي تريد مشاهدتها على YouTube ولكن الفيديو يتوقف كل 5 ثواني حتى انتهاء التحميل. أو تخيل شعورك عندما لا تتمكن من مشاهدة سوى الدقائق الأولى من الفيديو لأنك مضطر لمغادرة منطقة الـ Wi-Fi داخل إحدى المولات التجارية.
رغم زيادة نسب استخدام الهواتف الذكية في مصر والجزائر والأردن وليبيا واليمن, ما زال توافر شبكة إنترنت فائقة السرعة بأسعار معقولة من التحديات الكبيرة التي تواجه مستخدمي الهواتف المحمولة في تلك الدول. ونتيجة لذلك، عمل موقع YouTube على إيجاد حلول مبتكرة لتقليل الحاجة لنقل البيانات بسرعة عند استخدام منصتها للتيسير على مستخدمي YouTube في الأماكن التي يصعب فيها الحصول على شبكة الانترنت.
واليوم يطلق موقع YouTube خدمة إعادة تشغيل الفيديوهات دون الحاجة للاتصال بالإنترنت في المزيد من دول المنطقة منها مصر والجزائر والأردن وليبيا واليمن. وتتيح تلك الخاصية المبتكرة إمكانية حفظ العديد من مقاطع الفيديو التي يرغب المستخدمون في مشاهدتها على تطبيق YouTube على هواتفهم الذكية، بحيث يمكنهم مشاهدتها وقتما يريدون، خاصة خلال الأوقات التي تنقطع فيها خدمة الإنترنت أو تكون بطيئة. وتمكن هذه الخدمة مستخدمي YouTube من حفظ ومشاهدة هذه الفيديوهات بدون الحاجة للاتصال بالإنترنت من خلال الضغط على زر "offline"، وذلك بالنسبة لجميع مقاطع الفيديو التي تدعم تلك الخاصية. وعند الانتهاء من حفظ الفيديو، تستطيع مشاهدته بدون انترنت خلال 48 ساعة من وقت حفظه، وبالتالي يمكنك الاستمتاع بمشاهدته خلال هذه الفترة بدون أن تحمل هم وجود أو بطء شبكة الانترنت (لا تتضمن تلك الخدمة الفيديوهات الموسيقية).
تسري هذه الخدمة اعتبارا من اليوم، وبذلك يستطيع جميع المستخدمين مشاهدة معظم مقاطع الفيديو في مصر والجزائر والأردن وليبيا واليمن بدون انترنت. ويشمل ذلك مقاطع من البرامج الحوارية ومقاطع الفيديو الكوميدية والمقاطع الخاصة بعرض المنتجات الجديدة وغيرها. إن توفير إمكانية إعادة تشغيل الفيديوهات المفضلة بدون إنترنت تمكن المستخدمين من التغلب على المشكلات الخاصة بعدم وجود شبكة، أو بطء نقل البيانات والتكاليف المرتبطة بذلك، وبالتالي الاستمتاع بمشاهدة مقاطع الفيديو بسلاسة، ودون الحاجة لانتظار التحميل.
إنّ خدمة إعادة تشغيل مقاطع الفيديو بدون انترنت هي مجرد بداية، لأننا نعمل حالياً على تطوير المزيد من الوسائل لإتاحة مقاطع الفيديو للمستخدمين في كل مكان بتكلفة أقل لقاعدة مستخدمي الهواتف الذكية المتنامية في المنطقة العربية.
